This is the second scooper of this kind I have purchased through Amazon. I was very happy with the first one, but unfortunately it didn't survive the Winter. (Shouldn't have kept it outside, but who wants a poop coated tool indoors? :) )

When I went to purchase another, the original was no longer available, so I chose this one. (It looked fine in the picture). It's not nearly as strong or sturdy as the first. The springs are weak, which makes the job so much harder. If I had read the fine print, and knew it was coming from Target, I wouldn't have chosen this one.

Now I see it's on sale for $9.99 maybe it's worth that, but not the $17.99 I paid a couple of months ago

Come on, guys. It's black with purple trim, and it has "POOP PATROL" in big letters on it. There's even a cartoon dog wearing a police hat. How can you not love this thing?

I'm now the envy of all my neighbors. They look at me, swiftly harvesting poo in my gym shorts, and they're all "Damn, he's smooth. It must be the POOP PATROL." Even my dogs are in awe, staring at it like it's some ancient relic from their canine ancestors.

This is a well made piece of equipment, it's even pretty,(purple color). Best if all it does the job. It even picks up deer droppings, a real problem in our area. Dog droppings, wet or dry, large or small are a cinch!

I bought this for my two big dogs, an English Mastiff mix and a purebred Great Dane. As they are giant breeds, they eat a ton, and tend to "return" just as much to my backyard. I don't really like the old metal rake types since they need two hands, so I picked this up. I was wary of it's size, but it does pretty well, even with the presents my dane leaves me.

The one handed operation is a key feature, I can have this in one hand and a bag in the other and usually get the yard done in short order. The jaws are flexible and strong enough to fish stray pieces out of snow or deep grass without picking up everything around them. My only complaint is that the jaws can get a bit dirty and don't clean too easily. Also, the spring will likely crap out (excuse my pun) in relatively little time, but that's fairly easy to replace. I'd recommend this to any dog owner who likes a one handed clean up.

I have had dogs my whole life and thought i would try something new this time by purchasing this scoop. i have always used the two piece metal "dust pan" type of scoop before but thought with the great reviews i read i would give this one a try. Although i call myself lazy in the title, i think that there are a lot of people out there like myself. I scoop poops once a day...thats it... no more... no less. If you are like me DO NOT BUY THIS SCOOP unless you also carry around your poop bucket. the jaws only allow you to pick up one... maybe two poops at a time. I have a big yard so i have to make trips back and forth to the garbage. the dust pan type scoop works much better if you are like me. If you only like to pick up one poop at a time this scoop is AWESOME. Hope this helps someone make there choice.

Only one of the sides is adjustable, and the tide that does adjust doesn't go quite as small as I need it to. This was being used to replace the lead for my dogs booster seat, that hooks onto his harness. When the lead is at it's shortest my dog is actually able to get out of his carseat, and I am afraid he will get hurt. Unfortunately I took the tag off of it, thinking it would work. It didn't take long for me to realize I was wrong.

Have tried other glucosamine tablets, but this one also has MSM, Vitamin C, and fatty acid esters which make a big difference. Simpler products with only glucosamine don't work as well. My dog also likes the taste of this medicinal treat and it doesn't upset her stomach.

When I bought the eCo-Concepts dog house (NewAgePet eCo-Concepts BunkHouse Style Medium Dog House), I got this door flap to go along with it. It's clear, so dogs can see through it, and it is sturdy. It comes with screws that you can twist in manually without a screwdriver. In the beginning, the flap kept coming loose on one side. I'm not sure if my dog was pulling on the flap or chewing on the screws. Eventually I reinforced the hang-tabs, and switched over to using regular screws to hold it in place. Since then, I haven't had any more problems with it coming loose.

I just got the "house" by UPS and I am thoroughly disappointed! My main complaint would have to be in the fact that this "house" consisted of a flimsy bottom half of a house that folds in at the sides with two cheap, rectangular boards that were as stiff and yet sturdy as really cheap cardboard. The roof boards get better from there though! They have no velcro, do not attach to anything, and just make it impossible to create a house! I bought this hoping for a cute little house for my cat, and instead got a flimsy "crib" that makes my cat angry. This house is not a home, heck, it isn't even a house! The only reason for buying this would be the horribly flimsy box that it comes in, at least that my cat liked!

We sell this exact "house" where I work for $9.99. I had purchased one for my two kittens. I was extremely disappointed when I unpacked it to put it together. It velcro's together very poorly and will fall down at the slightest nudge hence the word "collapsible". Also, it comes in pink and blue and both let a lot of light through. Since most cats prefer to have a dark place to hide and sleep this did not become anything mine were remotely interested in. This toy is supposed to be chewed. It is a dental stick. My 6 month old lab chewed both ends off the first week. I had to take it away from him because he ate pieces of it. It was a waste of money and not safe for even moderate chewers.

As a guardian to five rescue dogs four rat terrier/fox terrier/Jack Russell terrier mixes and a dachshund my house is littered with dog toys. (My mother jokes that the dogs have more toys than she did growing up.) Far and away, their favorite brand is Kong. Some of the dogs are so fussy that they'll even pass up the Kong imitations in favor of the classic red and black chew toys.

The smallest of the bunch, 14-pound O-Ren, is also the roughest chewer. She can rip through some of the flimsier chew toys in just a few hours. (My lil' girl is deceptively tough!) Thus far, the Kong brand toys are the only chew toys I've found that stand a chance against her tenacious teeth. If given the opportunity, she can still dismantle a Kong but in a matter of weeks, not hours or days. Though she's a small dog, I buy her medium-sized Kongs, since they offer added resistance (but always the red ones; the black ones are tougher XTREME! so much so that I'm afraid they might knock her lil' teefies loose). Occasionally I'll experiment with large Kongs, but they usually prove too big for her.

Right now, she's hooked on the red dental sticks; I have a dozen backups stashed away in the pantry, so that when she ruins one, I can quickly replace it. As a smaller dog, she generally prefers the medium sized dental stick, however, she also has a few large ones that she'll play with on occasion. The large size is small enough that she can still reasonably chew on it, but large enough that she has trouble carrying it in her mouth. So I try to coax her into playing fetch with the medium size; and, when she's got her mind on chewing, I try to replace the medium dental stick with a large one (since they're that much more difficult to chew through). If you have a mediumor large-sized dog, you'll probably want to splurge on the large red dental Kong.

A word of caution: once your dog bites into the dental stick and starts ripping pieces loose, it's time to replace the toy. Rennie has eaten pieces of the rubber, thus upsetting her stomach and causing bouts of vomiting, usually lasting for a few days. In order to make the dental sticks last, once she rips into one end, I cut the stick in half in the middle, extending the toy's life for a few days.

Bottom line: always supervise your companion, inspect his or her toys, and replace when necessary!

When Frontline Spray was first brought out several years ago it was the most expensive product of it's kind on the market (that I knew of). But that didn't matter. It worked and it worked extremely well. The smell was mild and acceptable and the liquid was long lastingup to six weeks or more. The dogs and cats I used it on soon began to accept the occasional sprayings with gratitude. The fleas would fall off immediately onto their little backsstone cold dead. The ticks would dry up and could be brushed off by the next day or so. Fantastic. Everyone was happy.

This was a product that although owned by a French company was manufactured in the U.S. and I presume France as well. But I seemed to get the U.S. product here in Texas.

After a couple of years, and a couple of price increases, I noticed that the strength of the product was noticebly weaker than the original version. It seems that it gets weaker with each subsequent bottle that I buy. And yes, even though the miracle active ingredient has been cut repeatedly the price keeps going up. Now the fleas, at least a few of them, still fall off while spraying; but now, the little fellers just roll over, dust themselves off and promptly jump right back on the dog or cat. The ticks eventually get sick of the stuff after a few days and walk off to who knows where. Days and weeks later there are still a few fresh fleas and ticks that show up and ride around for a few days until I do a mild touch -up with the weak spray. This is the result from the product that I get now that is labeled as being manufactured in France. Seems they may be a tad greedy and getting more so. That's the only way I can explain it. The active ingredient is Fipronil.

So, after years of wholeheartedly recommending the product, I'm back to recommending the strong and effective Adams Spray. It's far more cost effective. It's just that everyone involved hates the strong odor. But it works as well as it has for many years and the price won't bust your budget to the point where you have to be late on your next car payment just to get the danged fleas off your pet.

Another product I've recently found to be very effective and relatively inexpensive, but labor intensive (depending upon your particular pets), is Zodiac Flea and Tick Shampoo for Dogs and Cats. It's effectiveness seems to last well for three to four weeks. Its active ingredients are Piperonyl Butoxide Technical and Pyrethrins.

So, to sum up, the manufacturers of Frontline Spray have taken what was a wonderful product available at a high, but fair, price and tinkered with it until now it's a mediocre product with an outrageous price.

Every few years we have a flea outbreak amongst our dog and four cats. Our veterinarian sends us home with Frontline drops which do not help us with current fleas as it takes several cycles to work, and most veterinarians do not carry the spray any longer. While the smell of the spray can be overwhelming, it gets the fleas off immediately! As you spray, the fleas surface and fall off the pet on to the floor. While the product claims that it is good for a month, we notice relief for about 7 10 days. During that time frame we will find new dead fleas on them that have hopped on from outside or from the carpets. This 7 10 day window gives you time, however, to do a fairly thorough house cleaning to get rid of the fleas. We do spray a second time which appears to eradicate all the fleas.

I have recently bought and installed the large Endura double flap dog door. Installation went very smoothly indeed, largely because I dispensed with the metal tunnel and simply blocked out an oversized opening(from previous pet door) in the wall using 2x6's up against the studs. The door itself is amazing. Even though it is the highest priced dog door I have seen on the market, it is a bargain in the long run for sure. I have installed and replaced the cheaper flap kind over the years. From the looks of this Endura door, I will not need to replace it in my lifetime. The weather seal function is incredible very well designed and durable, much better than the competition. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS THE BEST VALUE PET DOOR even without the increased savings from the better seal. One caveat note it is called a dog door and not a pet door. The flap may require more push than other pets a cat or rabbit could muster.

Overall:

After having installed 2 of these, this is head and shoulders above any other dog doors I've ever used, for the reasons listed below:

Insulation Each door is double-paned, so to speak, with hollow cores

Sealing Most doors only have magnets along the bottom edge; these flaps are magnetically sealed on both sides as well as the bottom

Construction Solid framing, metal tunnel, solid hinges and a quality lock-door for the inside

Installation Well thought-out instructions (if you don't find 4 nuts included, don't fret, the nuts are now threaded inside the outside framing)

Completeness Included are silicone sealant for the tunnel's seams, 303 vinyl solar protectant for the flaps as well as a metal-cutting jigsaw blade. Nice touch.

Living in high desert, we get hot days and cold nights up to 60 degree swings between day and night and constant wind (saw 65 mph gusts today). This is the only door I've had that doesn't include a cold spot on the floor beside it. It seals well and doesn't blow open. Ever. I haven't had to close it in the middle of the night because of a storm, haven't had to build a doghouse "tunnel" outside it or do anything else to help insulate the house better, nor have I had to replace any of the components. It looks brand-new after 6 months of constant use.

Installation for both the doors I've put in took in the neighborhood of 8 hours, which is about par for putting a dog door in (for me, at least). That includes having to re-route electrical wire that ran through the studs (and the trip to the big-box store for junction boxes, wire and wire nuts). That being said, I would definitely recommend a stud-finder that includes a current detector like the Zircon i65 or the Zircon i520, so you don't put your sawzall through anything you don't intend to. You'll need a sawzall, too.

It's expensive, but totally worth it.

Great high qualitydog door. Flaps seal terrifically. My only complaint that left this a 4 versus a 5 rating, is that the flap would only work without additional fabrication on an 8" thick wall opening. My house is brick and the total wall opening is about 8.5 inches. I had to trim out the inside of the door framing with self stick floor tiles to make the flap work properly. The linoleum self stick tiles actually make for a better inside finish than the stock metal/aluminum.

It took a lot longer to train our 85 pound Weimaraner to go through this that it was for the single-flap door we had through the back door of our old house. This was due to the extra heft/thickness of the doors, the 3 magnets instead of just one, plus the double doors. He kept thinking that it was shut when he hit the 2nd door. However, now he going in and out with ease.

Love the insulating properties of this compared to the single flap model through the door. Over the lifetime of the product/house I'm sure that this will end up paying for itself in energy savings.

Cheap wood-splinters and splits, guess that is why is was inexpensive. The wood definately needs be protected, painted,and sanded. The finish is a stain,and when cleaning in gets pink on the cloth. Did have a few problems putting together,and had to redo some areas and use glue. I still need to paint or protect the wood. I have it inside, It is not made for outdoors, unless you do all the prepping and keep off the ground.

We are so pleased with this product. We got a puppy last June and spent the Winter housetraining him. He urinated in the house once the first week we got him and was in a pet pen and thoroughly trained for 4 months. The 5th month we allowed him to roam the house at will when we were home. Three months later we had the carpets cleaned. Within two weeks, this 1-year-old dog urinated in the house 3 times. After the second time, we bought a belly band from PetSmart. The next day he urinated in the house again and the belly band went on him! The problem was that it fit like a bloomer and was hard to fasten because of the design. With him in and out of the house every hour or two, this became a hassle so we purchased this product. It is easy to put on him when he comes in and easier to take off when he goes outside to play. I bought one of these a year ago and liked it very much. However when I started looking for another 1.5 years later they were nowhere to be found. Luckily I found one on Amazon.com and although it is not as much of a "deluxe" model as the one I have, it is a good crate. It is easy to fold up and store in a closet or take on trips and is well made. Quick, easy assembly...and the grow feature is invaluable for crate training a puppy. However, having previously raised a large breed, I don't think this product would hold up to as it is not terribly beefy. Get out a tape measure to calculate what size you'll need. Don't depend on the size descriptions as they vary from brand to brand. This one is quite size appropriate for our dog who will top out around 50 pounds.

I have had 1 of these for 4 years and recently purchased a second for my latest canine addition. The crate is easy to set up, sides lock in place well with no need for additional support. Bottom liner is removable from separate door on the bottom. 2 Latches on door is nice to ensure secure closure. Will buy another if need be.
