I have recently bought and installed the large Endura double flap dog door. Installation went very smoothly indeed, largely because I dispensed with the metal tunnel and simply blocked out an oversized opening(from previous pet door) in the wall using 2x6's up against the studs. The door itself is amazing. Even though it is the highest priced dog door I have seen on the market, it is a bargain in the long run for sure. I have installed and replaced the cheaper flap kind over the years. From the looks of this Endura door, I will not need to replace it in my lifetime. The weather seal function is incredible very well designed and durable, much better than the competition. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS THE BEST VALUE PET DOOR even without the increased savings from the better seal. One caveat note it is called a dog door and not a pet door. The flap may require more push than other pets a cat or rabbit could muster.

Overall:

After having installed 2 of these, this is head and shoulders above any other dog doors I've ever used, for the reasons listed below:

Insulation Each door is double-paned, so to speak, with hollow cores

Sealing Most doors only have magnets along the bottom edge; these flaps are magnetically sealed on both sides as well as the bottom

Construction Solid framing, metal tunnel, solid hinges and a quality lock-door for the inside

Installation Well thought-out instructions (if you don't find 4 nuts included, don't fret, the nuts are now threaded inside the outside framing)

Completeness Included are silicone sealant for the tunnel's seams, 303 vinyl solar protectant for the flaps as well as a metal-cutting jigsaw blade. Nice touch.

Living in high desert, we get hot days and cold nights up to 60 degree swings between day and night and constant wind (saw 65 mph gusts today). This is the only door I've had that doesn't include a cold spot on the floor beside it. It seals well and doesn't blow open. Ever. I haven't had to close it in the middle of the night because of a storm, haven't had to build a doghouse "tunnel" outside it or do anything else to help insulate the house better, nor have I had to replace any of the components. It looks brand-new after 6 months of constant use.

Installation for both the doors I've put in took in the neighborhood of 8 hours, which is about par for putting a dog door in (for me, at least). That includes having to re-route electrical wire that ran through the studs (and the trip to the big-box store for junction boxes, wire and wire nuts). That being said, I would definitely recommend a stud-finder that includes a current detector like the Zircon i65 or the Zircon i520, so you don't put your sawzall through anything you don't intend to. You'll need a sawzall, too.

It's expensive, but totally worth it.

Great high qualitydog door. Flaps seal terrifically. My only complaint that left this a 4 versus a 5 rating, is that the flap would only work without additional fabrication on an 8" thick wall opening. My house is brick and the total wall opening is about 8.5 inches. I had to trim out the inside of the door framing with self stick floor tiles to make the flap work properly. The linoleum self stick tiles actually make for a better inside finish than the stock metal/aluminum.

It took a lot longer to train our 85 pound Weimaraner to go through this that it was for the single-flap door we had through the back door of our old house. This was due to the extra heft/thickness of the doors, the 3 magnets instead of just one, plus the double doors. He kept thinking that it was shut when he hit the 2nd door. However, now he going in and out with ease.

Love the insulating properties of this compared to the single flap model through the door. Over the lifetime of the product/house I'm sure that this will end up paying for itself in energy savings.
