Dog Palace Large Dog House Reviews

I'll start with the negatives, which are very few. I wish that this house was a bit wider. My dog, a leggy 90 lb purebred Lab, appears quite comfy in this house the way it is so this isn't her complaint. Her indoor hangout was a wire crate that is twice the width so I wanted her to be able to sprawl out like she did in there. She may be able to in this house but I have no clue. I can't see her when she's in there. I also wish there were vents on the side but again, in the hot, rainy, muggy South Florida weather, my dog has no complaints. She has emerged completely dry. And that's where the complaints stop.

My dog was an indoor dog but due to a family member with a weakened immune system, she had to move outdoors. I purchased another regular style dog house that came with a shingled roof, overhang for when it rains and she was fine with it but I wasn't. I was preparing to go into the expense of pulling permits to put in an outbuilding for her until I found this dog house. It is completely sealed from the elements and completely dry even after the typical torrential downpours Miami has during the summer. Flooding in the yard also isn't an issue since the water would have to be several inches high before it becomes a concern. The solar fan works like a charm. I also purchased the heater pad and cover for the cooler weeks ahead. The accessories are well made and implemented.

I've had my dog since she was old enough to be separated from her mother. She's been my best friend and companion through many ups and downs and has even saved my hide a few times. I would spend my last dime to make sure she is comfortable, safe, and protected. I love this dog house so much that when she is finally able to be an indoor dog again it will come inside with her and the crate will be put away. I initially felt that "for a dog house" it was quite expensive and what if it didn't work. Not a concern. This is worth every penny!

I followed the instructions and sprinkled it directly on the grass and in the beds of the plants and bushes on the perimeter of my backyard. It seems to be very effective and I then sprinkled it along the outside perimeter of the entire house against the house.

I will be ordering more in the fall and like the fact that it is pet safe.

We used these pads for the first couple of months with our beagle puppy. I loved the fact that they were eco-friendly since I do try to be conscious of the waste I produce. The downfall is that they leak. The great thing about it is that it REALLY keeps the odor down. I still use them (from time to time) with a holder and it still leaks but there's no smell.

I received my stroller in just a few days..it works very well. My cat liked being able to see out from over head to sides. He laid down when we went to the vet and did not cry. He felt safe, I feel he stayed much more relaxed because the could see me and most everything.

It was also great not to carry an almost 20 pound cat from the car to getting in the vet's office. Saved my arms and back. Easy to lift the carrier off and on the stroller to put in the car.

It seems to be keeping the ants away, and it's nice that it's a tray so it can hold both the dry and wet food bowls for the cat colony. It would be much easier to use if (1) there was some way to tell how much water is in it and whether you have to refill or you are overfilling and (2) it were easier to fill (you have to be fairly precise about pouring it into the 1" hole on top). Also you have to pour slowly, because the hole is netted (to keep solids out) and slows down water entry.

Extra extra points if the company were to line the bottom with copper for the slugs!!

We have tried a variety of alternatives to stop ants from invading our cats' food. This works on two fronts. First, the water in the well keeps the ants from crawling up to where the food is. Second, the tray captures spare pieces of food that get scattered by the cats.

I bought this crate for shipping my 70lb Malamute/Shepherd from Seattle to Hawaii. It worked perfectly, got him to me safe and sound, and turns out to be a great on-the-go carrier as well.

In researching carriers I decided to go with a bigger than necessary carrier as my dog is fluffy and tall. This way he would pass muster at the airport. The carrier was delivered timely and without a problem. It was even easily assembled by my not quite mechanically inclined father. The carrier is solidly molded plastic with metal screws and plastic nuts that hold the two halves together. There are two screws at the door (one on each side), three along each side, and two in the back. The screws also have a square neck at their base allowing them to 'lock' into the bottom half of the carrier and not unscrew themselves in transit. There are full panels of large vents on all three sides (*back included*) on the top half of the carrier. I went with this style mainly because my dog is a bit of an escape artist and I read reviews of the other 'set-in' wire vents being popped out. It is also one of the few large carriers that has venting in the back to be IATA compliant. The door is a simple squeeze type lock, that rotates on a single stationary rod. The metal rods protrude into small molded cavities for each contact point (not just a hole) making it nice and secure. There are also pre-drilled zip-tie holes to even more securely lock the door. They even got these right putting one hole on each side at the top corners of the door, one on each side on the bottom corners of the door, and one on each side in the middle of the door sides and staggered it so one side zips to the top half of the carrier, and the other zips to the bottom half. They also have pre-drilled airplane tie down holes in the corners of the lip where two halves meet. The bottom of the carrier has a raised center area creating an approximately 2 inch border "moat" around the outer edge of the crate bottom that helps pool any fluids away from the dog should they be unable to control themselves on the scary flight. It does not come with a carry handle on the top of the carrier (it's too heavy to carry like that) but does have built in carry grips on the sides of the carrier. The camouflage color is actually subtle and not obnoxious at all. The bottom half is solid dark green. I am very pleased with the carrier and definitely recommend it for your pet transport needs.

Oh, the only down side. For travel purposes it does not come with food/water bowls, or required 'live animal' stickers. But those are easily found here on Amazon, or at your local pet store.

I have a small dog with long hair, but her coat is not very thick. The double row rake does a good job of removing tangles and mats, however when using the shedding blade over her back she kept crying like it hurt. I thought she was just being difficult so I ran it lightly down my are, the scratches were deep and painful.It may be fine for a dog who's coat is thick enough that it can't reach the skin, but it's not right for every dog.

Great for dogs with long thick coats. I have used rakes before but the rotating pins make all the difference in the world. Not crazy about the blade on the back though. We have only been through one container of SEP, but it seems to be working on my two dogs. If we come home late or leave them alone in their dog run for too long, we'll still see evidence that they have eaten a bit of their poop (guh, so gross!), but it seems that they only eat a little bit of it now -which is way better than it was before when they only left little remnants. It just seems that something about the SEP turns them off the taste (what could possibly taste worse?!?), whereas previously they were really enthusiastic about the poop-eating. Anyway, this is a much better result than previous pills and products that we used to use (including feeding them spinach and pumpkin) -none of which seemed to have an effect. At this point, short of quitting our jobs and staying home with the dogs all day, this is the best we can do to curtail this disgusting habit. We walk them in the morning and again when we get home from work, but during the work day they are pretty much all alone in the run and when they gotta go, they gotta go -and I guess they get bored! :(

And yes -similar to other folks -we have doubled the amount recommended in the instructions.

I've put a lot of time and money into finding either a product or a homemade remedy for "the problem." This stuff has really cut down on the consumption of deposits. I do have to treat four dogs to discourage only one of them. This supplement has not yet broken her entirely, but the frequency has really decreased. I have much more to pick up from the yard. We are still in the two-week twice a day treatment (I also feed twice a day so it is easy) so I do not know what will happen if and when I switch to a once a day dose. It does have a strong, pungent odor but I do not find it offensive. Clearly better than poop-breath. Nothing else I have tried works to this degree I'll buy it until the habit is broken or as long I as need it. May have to look into purchasing by the case.

Our otherwise very smart, very trainable shephard would do this one gross thing--recycle his waste which caused gastric distress. We started using S.E.P. and the behavior stopped. We find if we take him off S.E.P. the behavior returns, so we use it every meal. We are pleased.

We added a two-year old corgi to our family in August. She'd been living in multi-dog households (meaning four dogs or more) for her entire life. We just have one other dog, her brother. She immediately began ingesting feces from both her and her brother. I'm not sure if this is a habit from living with many other dogs or was brought on by the stress of being in a new home, but I was determined to stop it.

We tried a product from Drs. Foster and Smith called Distaste and it worked quite well, but my male dog wasn't terribly thrilled with it-it came in chew form and he didn't seem to like them. So I found this SEP and was glad to see it's something mixed into their food. It does not work as well as the Distaste, but seems to discourage her. All winter I have noticed my female picking up frozen specimens and marching around the yard with them... but she doesn't seem to be eating them. I plan to double the dose, as some other reviewers have noted, and we'll see how things go through the spring. We are typically quick about cleaning up after them, particularly now that we can see the ground, but occasionally we miss a pile. I'm hoping that the problems we had this winter with the SEP not working well were maybe because the feces were frozen, and now that things are thawing, maybe the SEP will discourage her more strongly.

So bottom line, it seems to be working fairly well, but has not broken the habit completely. My only other comment is the smell of the product itself. It smells like Pixie Stick dust, or something similarly sweet/sour and I find the smell really awful. My husband and two sons don't seem to mind, but I hold my breath until I get it mixed into the dogs' food.
