LOVE this dog collar it's super cute and looks great on our new puppy.

It comes exactly as described. The only thing we had to do was file down some of the plastic edges where they seal the fabric from fraying as a few spots were a little sharp.

All and all a great collar, I even got complements on it at the VET!

very cute and very good price at Amazon. Bought that matching lead and it got very fuzzy and frayed for some reason, but the collar has held up nicely in comparison. Don't know if it will last many years, but very cute.

I have 2 Basenjis and a Pug. These are so cute & bright. We have matching leashes. The Basenjis have to wear harnesses when out and they have stronger leashes. But when they go shopping i's cute they match. They are very soft, not bulky like so many collars. The collar is great for a small dog. Price is right.

I love the look of this little coat, but the fact that it has sleeves makes it very hard to put on. It is a bit too snug for my 7.5 pound chihuahua.

This is an absolutely adorable winter coat with great detailing. The color is great and the lining is nice and thick. But, it does run much smaller than other coats and sweaters I have bought from this same brand (East Side Collection.) I have a 6 pound Chihuahua and it is a bit tight for her when I try to velcro it up. She definitely needed the next size up, which I fear would be too big. If not for the sizing, it would be a 5 star item.

36" Blue Plaid Pet House Soft Crate Carrie Reviews

36' Blue Plaid Pet House Soft Crate Carrie
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

If you are determined to have a soft sided crate, this one is very good quality and it very easy to set up and fold down. I would not recommend it over a wire crate if you are deciding between a wire and soft-sided crate. My eight pound puppy learned out to unzip this crate in about half an hour and when I locked the zippers, she was able to tear the zipper out competely (while wearing a cone of shame two days after being spayed). This is not because the quality of the product is poor. On the contrary, it is a very heavy duty product that I would be comfortable using inside or out, but even the best zipper is not as strong as a wire-crate. The crate pad in the bottom is so comfortable I wanted to steal it and use it as a mattress pad! For a dog that doesn't mind the crate and will hang out in there without trying to destroy it, this an attractive, well-made, comfortable option. Three doors make it very convenient to get the dog and any toys or treats in there that you want. One small complaint about the ordering process was that shipping did take a while and the item was marked as shipped before it actually was shipped. (I was called and told the color I wanted was on backorder AFTER the seller marked the product as shipped.) However when I dealt with customer service, they were friendly, reasonable, and very accomodating. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and with the product which is now serving as a little hideout for my sister's cat....who also is very pleased with it.

I have two of these, one for each of my show dalmatians.....they are great for taking to shows because they fold flat, even with the mattress/pillow in them. The canvas bag they travel in is very sturdy, but I wish it came with a shoulder strap option. My dogs don't fuss about being in their crates because they can see all around them. The zipper flaps are very sturdy as well. I put different pads in them because the ones that come inside are only about 3/4" foam and not very comfortable, but the crates hold a fuller, nicer pillow really well, and can fold up with the other pillow inside.

The first time I went to set this crate up, the black plastic clasp broke when I touched it. It isn't not very durable.

Honest reviews on 36" Blue Plaid Pet House Soft Crate Carrie

I have a blue canvas crate (made by the same company) for one of my dogs, and when I decided to keep my foster dog, I decided to purchase this plaid version. It is somewhat cheaply made, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. But, it's also pretty cheap to purchase, so I'll take that trade-off.

These crates are great if you travel often. I crate my dogs when I'm not home, so during the day they each have their own crate. When I travel, I only bring one crate, and they share. The attached storage space and bags are convenient to put things in. The bag that covers the collapsed crate has enough extra space that you can put a couple soft fleece blankets in as well (which is what I use for bedding in the crate). The crate comes with a mat. I used it for awhile with the crate, but my dogs prefer to be comfortable, so I use my own bedding, and have discarded the mat.

Neither of my dogs ever tries to escape from their crate, and they aren't chewers or destructive. I don't think this would be a good purchase if you were training a puppy to stay in a crate. But because they are adults and are already accustomed to being in crates, these crates work just fine for containment and comfort.

This is a great price for such a large package of aspen bedding; however, the first time it was sent to me was in the plain brown wrapper (pictured) and it had multiple tears when it arrived. I may be pickier than most, but I don't like using/paying for a product that has spilled some of its contents while in transit. Amazon did make it right by resending the package boxed. The brown wrapper is not strong enough and the shredded material will make a mess if not properly contained.

I have two guinea pigs in a large cage which I change every three days to keep it sanitary and comfortable. Buying smaller packages of aspen bedding is costly and time consuming. I've tried other options such as the paper and pellet variety, but frankly, they don't last much longer, control odor or really absorb any better and they cost more to use. If you are a small pet owner, you should be aware that you should not use regular pine shaving or pellets (or cedar for that matter) even though they are less expensive; the odor they emit is harmful to a small animal's respiratory system.

In addition to the aspen bedding, I use two liners on the bottom of the cage, which I also buy in bulk. I would utilize these no matter what bedding I purchased. I have used both human grade chucks and the wee-wee pads for dogs; the former is less expensive. They provide an absorbent layer that draws the urine from the bedding as well as keeping it from seeping/pooling into the bottom of the cage; it makes clean up much easier. This system for small pet-cage maintenance took some trial and error to arrive at; it has worked well for me.

Note: The texture here is coarse, so this bedding would likely not be my pick for a smaller animal, such as a hamster. There are smoother shavings available in smaller packages; in my experience they are a lot more expensive.) My guinea pigs seem to be fine with this; rough edges don't appear to be an issue as the shavings are quickly flattened. As a breed, to the best of my knowledge, guinea pigs aren't litter box trainable and tend to soil indiscriminately, so it doesn't make sense to me to spend more on a finer grade of shaving (or fluffy bedding) at this point. The compromise here is that the bedding may not be as soft as others, but it is economical enough to change frequently (plus there is no dust or fumes,) which is more hygienic and healthier in the long run.

Update on 07/24/2012 from 09/27/11:

My enthusiasm has waned...

The price has jumped up considerably (approximately eight dollars) since my initial review and there has been another issue. The last two bags I purchased of this item had quite a few large chunks throughout; something akin to landscape bark. This time, I purchased aspen bedding from Foster's & Smith-their own brand-when it went on sale. While not less expensive, it is a softer, finer shred and of better absorbency & quality. Since this is no longer the bargin it once was, I think it best to look elsewhere.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

These come delivered in a giant thick paper bag and are fairly well compressed. When you start pulling the shavings out, they will fluff up and definitely fill a lot more space than the package they are shipped in. I have no complaints about these and they cost a fraction of what you would pay at pet stores or repeatedly buying smaller quantities. My only gripe is Amazon raised the price more than 60% after the first time I bought this... I should have bought more with my first order! The newer price is still reasonably competitive, but may inspire me to double check other options before I purchase again.

Best Deals for Kaytee Aspen Bedding for Pets

Living on Maui, I am used to the fact that many times I am forced to pay higher prices for certain retail items purchased locally. One good example of this is pet supplies for our Holland Lop rabbit; at the local pet store on the island, I was shelling out $14.99 for the 3200 cubic inch package of Kaytee Aspen Bedding. Several months ago, I realized that I could purchase this same product on amazon.com for $9.43 (and, since I am a member of the Amazon Prime program, there was no additional charge for shipping & handling).

Just the other day I came across the 8.0 cubic foot package of Kaytee Aspen Bedding on amazon.com for $21.99 this is a huge savings for me over anything I could find locally, and I am thrilled to be able to save so much on this product! In addition, due to the large size & weight of the product, not only is shipping free, but amazon.com sends it out to me by UPS, so I get it within 2 days.

My only complaint (and this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that the bedding was not sealed in any kind of plastic wrapping, but simply in brown packaging paper. It's not as secure as the plastic wrapping might be, and as you can see from the photo I uploaded, there is a small rip in the package....and the bedding is starting to make a mess everywhere. I would recommend plastic packaging for this type of product in the future.

UPDATE as of September 2012: I just re-ordered this product, and was very pleased that this time it was wrapped very securely in thick plastic packaging (see photo). The price did increase by a substantial percentage, but for my situation (living in Maui), even this cost including with it the free shipping through Amazon Prime membership still beats anything else I could either purchase locally or order from the mainland.

Honest reviews on Kaytee Aspen Bedding for Pets

I was a little apprehensive about having this delivered because I've seen complaints about the packaging, but it arrived inside a box and inside the package itself is plastic. So if you're worried about it getting wet/torn, it doesn't look like it should happen. The bedding is very clean, almost no dust and no smell. My guinea pigs are fine with it. Someone said the pieces are to large, but in the package I got they were regular sized shaving pieces (it may vary from one package to next, I don't know about that). I put newspaper and absorbent pads underneath to protect the cage floor because it does get moved with active animals running on it. Obviously it's a natural product, so it doesn't have any odor masking qualities, but refreshing it mid-week and a full change once a week has worked for me very well so far.

I'm not an aspen bedding expert. This is only the second bag I've purchased. I thought these were more like shavings. They have the texture of chips with shredded sharp edges. If I had to live and sleep on this stuff I'd be full of wood slivers. The last brand I bought was Harlan Sani-chips which was much more to my liking. They were wood shavings, softer w/o the sharp splintered edges. Looks like Harlan was just bought out so I hope the new owners are putting out the same product because I'm ordering a bag. I'm not buying another bag of Kaytee.

11-28-11

I'm going to suck it up and say that my opinion of the Kaytee litter has improved. The critters (dwarf hamsters) love to burrow into it and make nests out of it which they can't do w/ the Sani-Chips. So in the future I'll buy some of both since the critters give them both a thumbs up for different reasons.

I received my stroller in just a few days..it works very well. My cat liked being able to see out from over head to sides. He laid down when we went to the vet and did not cry. He felt safe, I feel he stayed much more relaxed because the could see me and most everything.

It was also great not to carry an almost 20 pound cat from the car to getting in the vet's office. Saved my arms and back. Easy to lift the carrier off and on the stroller to put in the car.

Very disappointing. It initially seemed like a good and healthier alternative to rawhide. I am extremely unhappy that this item is made in China! I NEVER give my pets anything made in China. There is much information out there about pets becoming ill and dying from products made in China.

Bought a small SmartBones chicken dog chew for our mini dachshund this afternoon from the pet store and just discovered that this product is made in China!! NO THANKS!

Best Deals for Chicken Dog Treat

Having to watch what my three dogs eat, I first ordered a single package of SmartBones from another website as a trial. Since everyone was fine and the dogs loved them, I ordered a bag of each flavor from Amazon.com. After a single small SmartBone all three dogs became very ill. The two larger dogs were able to recover on their own but the smallest dog spent 6 days in the vet hospital, came home a few days, and is back in the hospital again.

I took the SmartBones package to the vet to make sure I hadn't overlooked an ingredient they shouldn't have and the first thing the vet noted was this product is made in China where there is no assurance of either contents or quality. My vet has treated several pets who became ill from Chinese products and also said there are reports of salmonella discovered in other pet products manufactured in China. I share this information to spare others the agony of seeing their pets become ill, along with the considerable expense ($500 and counting) of trying to get them well.

Honest reviews on Chicken Dog Treat

Our dog loves these. When given a choice between a regular rawhide, Smart Bones wins every time. Definitely viewed as a treat. We also prefer these to rawhides which can leave a chewy mess on furniture which isn't as much of a problem with Smart Bones. However, rawhides are great because they keep our dog occupied for hours. Our dog goes through Smart Bones in less than 30 minutes. I'll continue to get these since they are so loved but I'll have to keep looking for a suitable and safe substitute for rawhide.

My dogs are terriers, so they like to chew. Rawhide is not good for them, so I was glad that I found this chicken flavored alternative. It doesn't make them sick, and they seem to like the flavor. They love it and happy dogs = happy owners.

Roll Around Dog Carrier Large Red
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I got this for my new dog for his first flight. He's a 14lb terrier mix. This rolling bag was excellent! It was large enough for him and we were able to open the top most of the time while rolling him through the airport so he was able to look around. We flew Southwest and it advertises 8.5" height limit but this is much bigger. All you have to do when you get on the plane is take out the bottom (comes out easily and velcros back in easily) and it fits under just fine. Our dog doesn't like to be enclosed in any sort of crate so it was good that he was able to sit upright the whole time and pop his head out. The only time we had to lay the bag down horizontally was during the flight. The bag is light and easy to roll around and much better than having to carry it the whole time. But it has backpack handles and a top handle if you do want to carry it. It also has a leash inside to hook his collar to so you don't have to worry when the top is open. You can also open the sides when its laying down flat. It also has large pockets on both sides for treats, food, leash, water bowl, etc. I ordered a couple different ones to compare and this one was the best quality and most spacious. I would definitely recommend!

This is a great durable carrier. I have used it twice so far to transport my two chihuahuas 6 lbs and 7 lbs with me on flights. This would be the max weight combo I would recommend. My dogs are snug in there but not too tight. I have had no issues fitting this carrier under the seat in front of me. The middle isle is the most accommodating however. Overall, great carrier.

Best Deals for Wheel Around Travel Pet Carrier in Khaki

First off, let me start by saying: I'm basing this on my 10lb shih tzu pekingese mix & just a few airplanes I've been on.

Just because it says "airline approved" doesn't mean you get to take Fido IN the cabin with you.

It doesn't mean this will fit under the seat. You might get a seat behind a bulk head, then what? The overhead?

>>>Check with the airline.

If you want to take Fido be sure to write questions down before booking. Check out seatguru.com/

Seat guru will be a little informative as seating & stowage go.

Some carriers who fly over water have emergency equipment under the seats & therefore 3in less headroom for pup.

Now, just because you are not flying over water doesn't mean that equipment is not there.

>>>Check with the airline.

Newer planes have "airbags" in the seatbelts in 1st class & the row or 1st couple of rows behind 1st class, & are supplied by equipment on the seat support. This takes up roughly 3inches of latteral room for Fido.

>>>Check with the airline.

The lower support platform can be removed easily by peeling the velcro off the front lower edge.

With the lower support platform installed the following apply.

This seat fits okay under 1st class seating & coach window or middle seats.

Isle seat storage is narrower & this carrier won't fit & with the lower platform removed it will be extremely tight & uncomfortable for your pet.

>>>Check with the airline.

With the platform removed the above storage improves but the carrier becomes semisoft.

With the steel support rods this becomes somewhat collapsable for storage.

I can't say this carrier is the most comfortable as a backpack, that's not the main purpose.

Great car carrier when lower platform is removed, this just keeps the hard plastic pegs from digging into your car seat & yet the wheels stay on.

I am pretty satisfied with this purchase.

Honest reviews on Wheel Around Travel Pet Carrier in Khaki

well made, looks great, durable. but it's way too small for my 6lb puppy. she's more long than tall and just couldn't get comfy in this. made her look like a sardine. and when i would roll it, the angle made her slip to the bottom of the case and she would keep scrambling to stand. maybe if they made one that was wider instead of taller.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Wheel Around Travel Pet Carrier in Khaki

I would have given this product a 5+ ratting but for the misleading weight capacity. When I received the box, in large letters the weight capacity is really 21 lbs, NOT THE 30 LB LIMIT as stated in this ad. The 30 lb limit is for a pet bed, not as a traveling device.

This product is very well made. My cocker spaniel is 25 lbs, and fits snugly into this carrier. I didn't return it because Daisy is in it for a very very short period of time...5 minutes at a time and she really doesn't mind. Daisy can see through the mesh on all sides although her head touches the top. If this large carrier was 2 inches taller it would be great and again it is well constructed.

This is the second stroller I've purchased for my little prince and I love it! Super spacious for him (he's 10lbs) and the cup holder is very convenient ! Awesome product!

Honest reviews on Guardian Gear Roadster II Stroller for Dogs and Cats

The stroller has been very useful for my 12-year dog who can't walk as much as she used to. It took her no time to get used to it. She absolutely loves it.

The quality seems good. The two cup holders are convenient and there is even a small basket just under the bed. Easy to navigate and I really like that there are 2 safety clips that can be attached to your dog's harness. I find the mesh ventilators in the front and back very useful. I like that I can leave them either unzipped or zipped up. Plenty of room to aerate.

I only gave it 4 stars b/c the handlebar cushion (feels like Styrofoam) ripped when it was delivered. This made me wonder about the quality and durability of the material. But I decided to keep it because it was so heavy and my dog, recovering from a surgery, needed it right away. Although it can be folded, it is definitely not for carrying due to its weight. Overall, I would recommend the product.

After trying 3 different gates (that all had high ratings on Amazon), this is my favorite. I turned my home into my own version of a baby gate showroom to figure out which one I wanted, so here's my take on three different gates.

I think they are all pretty good gates, it just depends on your situation and what features you're looking for. The key features that ended up making a difference to me were 1) the width of the gate opening and 2) the latch mechanism

Kidco Center Gateway:

---------------------

cost $85 & extensions $24 / gate is 29.5" Tall / fits 29.25" to 37.5" doorway width / 1" bar to step over / gate opening 22"

Has the widest gate opening (the space you walk thru, not the doorway that it fits into) of any of them about 22". (This certainly won points from my 6'2" husband who was pretty irritated when walking thru some of the others). I was surprised after reading so many reviews on all these gates that there wasn't more mention of this feature.

This one also had the most secure latch feature. You have to push a button to lift the handle and lift the gate over a little ledge to open it and walk thru. I figure this will absolutely be the hardest one for my little one to figure out.

This gate has the most adjustable widths and therefore would probably be the strongest in most door widths. The gate has about 2.75" pieces on the ends that you can use or not with the optional extensions (more 2.75" spindles as additions 2 per box) to provide the most width flexibility. Because all the gates become "weaker" if the posts are extended too much, this one seems the sturdiest in my doorways. (ie. if the gate says it fits up to 37" and your door opening is 36.5", it won't seem as sturdy as if the doorway was 34").

It doesn't have its brand name printed on it anywhere (a plus in my book) so it's totally white.

It has the lowest bar across the floor that you have to step over at only 1" high (seems less of a tripping risk).

This is the one that has the highest rating from Consumer Reports. (Child safety gates 08/04)

Unfortunately, it also is the most expensive of the bunch at about $85 + any extensions you need.

I do have to say that this one had the most confusing directions, but you can still figure it out ok none of them took longer than 10 minutes to set up.

It's the shortest gate and I wish it was a little taller.

All in all, if you can afford the price of this one, it's definitely worth it!

Summer Infant Sure & Secure Extra Tall Gate

---------------------------------------------

cost $60 & extensions included / gate is 36" Tall / fits 28"-48" doorway width / 2" bar to step over / gate opening 19"

This is the one that I wanted to like because I thought it was the best deal.

The gate opening is about 19" which I thought was ok, but hubby wanted wider.

The latch mechanism is really easy to operate and I thought kids could figure it out easily, but because the gate is so tall, they would probably have a hard time reaching it.

It does come with its own extensions in 5" and 10" so it more easily fits the wider doorways.

However, depending on the width of your doorway, this one may or may not fit as well. For example, I had a lot of doorways that are about 33" and this gate didn't end up fitting well in them because the gate without any extensions was too small and the posts had to be extended so far it didn't seem stable. And the 5" extension was too big to add. (vs. the kidco gate's extensions add 2.75" as needed).

It's by far the tallest and I liked that since my daughter has been in the 95% so far. I also just like the way the taller gate looks.

It does have the highest bar across the bottom to step over 2".

If it fits well in your doorway it is probably the best value for the money.

First Years Hands-Free Gate

-----------------------------

cost $50 & extensions $15 / gate is 32" Tall / fits 29"-34" doorway width / 1.5" bar to step over / gate opening 17"

My gripe with this gate was primarily because the gate opening is only 17" wide! I'm 5'8" and I felt like I was going to have to really pay attention walking through it so I wouldn't end up bumping it every time. However...

The hands-free step pedal is pretty cool and worked pretty easily. I wouldn't worry about a little kid figuring it out and having enough weight to be able to push it down to open it. For me it just wasn't cool enough to overcome my issue with the gate opening width.

Good height to the gate.

It was very sturdy in my doorway.

This one did have a little ramp feature for the bar that goes across the floor that helps minimize the tripping factor.

Fits only up to 34" doorways so has the best chance of needing an extension.

All that being said, if you really want a hands free gate, and the width of the gate opening doesn't bug you, try this one.

All three gates seemed to:

Fit pretty tightly in the doorways after being adjusted properly. Depending on your walls and if you have moldings etc, you might need to take an extra 5-10 minutes to adjust them and get them straight and hanging correctly.

Had the same type of post for the pressure-mount that is covered with a rubbery material to help it not slip on the wall.

Were pretty easy to set up.

All look about the same from a quality point of view in other words one of them didn't look "cheaper" to me than the others.

Please remember that for safety, only hardware mounted gates are considered stable enough to put at the top of stairs, so don't use any of these for that. Think about how you will use these gates in your house and what features you will value. Good luck with your own purchase!

We bought this gate to use with our 13 month old and were very excited not have to install hardware to the wall. It was up for about 24 hours when I heard the baby cring that cry that you know they are in pain. I found her at the gate, both knees were wedged between the vertical poles. I managed to get one knee out but had to put vegtable oil on the other one to free it. She of course was screaming the whole time and her knees were bruised. Very nice design but I bought it for safety and that's not what I got. The company said they just shortened the space between the rails, but I think it's too close now seeing how her knees got stuck. Good luck to anyone trying to keep little ones out of harms way. That's a job in itself.

I needed a gate that would not only stop my adventurous climber but be easy enough for my 9 and 5 year olds to manage. It is so sturdy my 12 month old is not able to pull it down (hard as he tries) and it with-stood 7 nine year old boys going up and down the stairs at my son's birthday party. I've had other swing open gates, but this one is the best so far!

We bought this gate because we have an old school thin metal banister on one side of our steep stairs coupled with a 6 inch tall molding on the wall on the other side, and it was very hard to find a solution to keep our one year old from speeding up the steps at will. We originally bought a cheapo that worked fine but I couldn't stand having to move it every time I was going up or coming down with my arms full, so we started shopping around.

This Kidco center gate has been WONDERFUL so far because of the expandability (we didn't need the extension), the four independent spindles (which make for an extremely tight fit), and a 3 step process to open the gate (although frustrating, its also way more comforting knowing she can't open it).

I definitely recommend it for those who don't mind spending and are able to spend more (the cheapo is already very distorted from moving it around so much) for a gateway that is so simple you can set it up while your baby is playing with you and your husband is putting away the groceries!

My mother and Father-In-Law have this gate at the top of their staircase and my 2 year old has figured out how to open it. However, my 10 month old has not had any problems with it. The design is nice, but it was somewhat difficult to install, and seems to need adjusting quite often. We have a spring-loaded gate at home that has stayed in place, but does not swing open. I would recommend this gate if you have a child that is not yet able to climb to a standing position or pull up on it.
