I'll start with the negatives, which are very few. I wish that this house was a bit wider. My dog, a leggy 90 lb purebred Lab, appears quite comfy in this house the way it is so this isn't her complaint. Her indoor hangout was a wire crate that is twice the width so I wanted her to be able to sprawl out like she did in there. She may be able to in this house but I have no clue. I can't see her when she's in there. I also wish there were vents on the side but again, in the hot, rainy, muggy South Florida weather, my dog has no complaints. She has emerged completely dry. And that's where the complaints stop.

My dog was an indoor dog but due to a family member with a weakened immune system, she had to move outdoors. I purchased another regular style dog house that came with a shingled roof, overhang for when it rains and she was fine with it but I wasn't. I was preparing to go into the expense of pulling permits to put in an outbuilding for her until I found this dog house. It is completely sealed from the elements and completely dry even after the typical torrential downpours Miami has during the summer. Flooding in the yard also isn't an issue since the water would have to be several inches high before it becomes a concern. The solar fan works like a charm. I also purchased the heater pad and cover for the cooler weeks ahead. The accessories are well made and implemented.

I've had my dog since she was old enough to be separated from her mother. She's been my best friend and companion through many ups and downs and has even saved my hide a few times. I would spend my last dime to make sure she is comfortable, safe, and protected. I love this dog house so much that when she is finally able to be an indoor dog again it will come inside with her and the crate will be put away. I initially felt that "for a dog house" it was quite expensive and what if it didn't work. Not a concern. This is worth every penny!

I bought this because I had a old dog that has some problems with incontinence. PS the vet can help with medication. But back to the bed. It is the best by far in construction and the cover is made to last through many washings. The fill is fluffy and the dogs love it. They never have to fluff it up themselves. It puffs back up when they get off of it. The zipper is top quality and the material is great. No more throwing away the bed because of urine getting in to the filler. My dogs just love it. And so does my wife. The cover washes up like a dream.

Bought two of these beds for my senior (12+ years) large (60+ lbs.) dogs. The cover material is durable and machine washes nicely. The interior pillow stays fresh and clean with the covers on. My senior dogs thoroughly enjoyed them until we brought a puppy into the house that systematically chewed the small-toothed zippers, breaking the zipper teeth, exposing the fluffy interior pillows. The uncovered pillows gave him another chew toy, resulting in the filling all over the floor. The covers themselves held up well, but no longer had the pillows to put inside them and could not zip the covers closed. I would see a puppy-proof zipper as a great improvement!

Once the puppy grows out of the oral stage (as the senior dogs did), I'll definitely consider getting these again. Not interested in buying $60 chew toys in the interim. :)

Update: The puppy grew up, and I did purchase two more for the senior dogs one of the dogs now gone. :( The beds, however are holding up well.

This is a comfortable bed with the waterproof poochpad on top, I think it is a good value. My new dog chewed it around the zipper, but I cut off the pooch pad, which is still usable, and threw away the sides and bottom.

I really wanted my dogs to love this bed. It came unbelievably fast and looks very nice. It's also sturdy and seems well made. I have two older dogs, one 50 lbs and one 20 lbs. It could be that the bed is very soft and it's hard for them to get on and off. The small dog won't get on it at all and the larger dog seems to have to launch herself in and out of it. Anyway, I'm still hoping that they'll adjust but for now, it's been a disappointment.

Update: The bigger dog is using it intermittantly. I think I may have been too hasty!

My Parson Jack Russell zipped right into this easy-to-assemble, sturdily-made, handsome log doghouse as soon as we put it in the yard! I've seen this kind of doghouse sold at more than twice the Amazon price seriously a good deal. The medium size accommodates my dog perfectly, with room for him to completely turn around inside and stick his nose out when he lies down, and he's about 22" long with his paws stretched in front of him. It really does seem to offer some protection from the heat, thanks to the slightly raised floor. As an added precaution (our summers are guaranteed to get many over-100F days), we hooked up one of those under-eave misters and he's so happy to have a place to hide from the kids and still be comfortable. The wood is solid and attractive, the inside is very smooth, so no worry of splinters, and the finish has not faded in the sun or sprinklers. Also, the shipping cost was very low for such a heavy item, and it was delivered quickly and well-packaged.

I was a little skidish to buy this because of its price. All of the other dog houses are much more expensive and I do beleive "you get what you pay for". But this dog house is awesone! The moment you open the box you get a burst of cedar smell. It set up in 5 minutes and was super easy. I didnt even have to read the instructions. It very sturdy and solid. And my 30pd Jack Russell/Fox Terrier mix loves it!

These coats are very well made, they are thick, the fleece side is very soft and warm. I have two pit bulls, and they won't go outside in the rain or snow without their coats. Instead, they sit by the door and look at their coats until we put them on.

Our dogs do run around an play in their coats, but not as rough as they normally do. I think the coats restrict them a little. But, the coats have no evidence that they are damaged. We bought these coats toward the end of last winter and have only used them a few times this winter. All in all, probably 2 months of regular use.

The coats are very east to get on. Before these, the dogs had hoodies which were difficult and frustrating to get on and off. With these, it doesn't matter if they are sitting, standing, even walking I can get them on and off!

This is the 2nd blanket I bought for my German Short Hair. She plays hard with labs larger than her,and this blanket stays put! I really like the reflective tape,as she sometimes ventures toward the road at night. The fact that is is reversable is like having 2 blankets. She got a small rip in it probably from barbed wire on the farm and it has not frayed at all. I haven't washed it yet, but I believe it will hold up well. Mud wipes right off the nylon shell. I bought this coat for my 9-lb. short-hair chihuahua mix, because she hates going out in the rain and snow. I thought this would keep her a little warmer and drier. Unfortunately, the fit is not right for her. She has a longer body, so I ordered the small. The length is fine, but the rest is too big. The front part that goes around her chest is what makes it unusable for her. It comes down in front of her legs making it difficult for her to walk. It's too bad, because the quality of the coat is good.

Something I would recommend is to visit the vendor's actual website before purchasing this dog coat. Amazon does not post their actual sizing chart, so I mistakenly purchased a large for my 9 month old Weimaraner who actually needs an extra-large. Other than, that, the velcro closures work really well and he doesn't seem to mind it much, when we can get it on him.

This has been a great pen with a lot of space and very safe. I have owned mine for over a year and it is the only pen that can contain my 3 ferrets. I bought one from a different brand and it only took my ferret Jello 5 minutes to figure out how to escape. This pen will hook up easily and opens easily for cleaning. With all 11 panels hooked up it is large enough for me to sit in and play with my ferrets in, which has been great. It is in my opinion the best set up for ferrets especially for apartment dwellers like myself. I think I had to buy a separate canvas mat to put underneath it which is a must to keep ferrets from digging at carpet/floor. I inherited my late sister's ferrets and although I love animals, I wasn't happy with the usual ferret alternatives: keep them caged up, give them the run of a limited area (which I tried but which promptly became a hygiene nightmare) or give them the run of the house and be careful of treading in ferret poop. For readers who are voluntary ferret parents, I completely understand the appeal and I "get" that I was undereducated, unprepared, not particularly enthusiastic and probably ill-informed about ferret care. But even I could see that the largest big-dog cage available wasn't adequate for such active little guys, but giving them unfettered access to any free space meant signing up for intensive poo-cleaning duties. I tried giving them the run of the house but could never find them when it was time to put them back in the spare bathroom where they ran free. I really struggled with the idea of paying $75 for this collection of wire panels, but it really did solve the problem. I set it up in a tiled, air-conditioned sunroom in about 5 minutes flat it is absolutely foolproof. The brackets connecting the panels are metal and appear very sturdy. There are plastic latches to connect the last 2 panels into a circle and they might be the first pieces that fail, but they are pretty heavy and could in a pinch be replaced with twist ties or wire. The little guys, who could climb onto a 4" bathroom counter, couldn't climb their way out of this contraption. They seemed to feel more free without a top to cage them in and it was easier for me to step in and give them attention. My cats never jumped inside (it's a pretty tall wall to jump or even step into from the ground) but they could nuzzle and bat through the outside, which the ferrets seemed to enjoy. Luckily, a more ferret-aware friend adopted the two little guys but she still found this to be a useful tool in introducing them to her own ferret, since they could interact without being able to attack each other. I've fostered a number of small animals over the years and would give this an enthusiastic thumbs-up for rodents (are ferrets and gerbils rodents? Anyway, for that sort of animal) and even for small dogs. This product is a little like the anchor so simple it seems incredible that no one has thought of it before or that one would need to pay for it, but so incredibly effective that it's worth it!

This sturdy pen turned out to be very useful for me. I have two female rats, one who comes when called and the other who doesn't. The one who doesn't is also fatter and can't climb out of this pen, although the other girl can. I guess it's mainly a ferret pen so I wasn't sure if it would work for the ratties, but in my particular situation it works great. The bars are too close together for the girls to either slip through or get their heads stuck. All in all I would recommend this both as a playpen for ferrets OR rats, especially if your rats are on the large, fat side! :)

Picked up this playpen for my ferret. I use it as an extension to his cage so that he has room to run around while I am not around. He has never escaped and doesn't seem particularly interested in escaping as it offers a fairly large area for him to do his thing. It unlatches pretty easily and can be expanded by adding more panels. When not in use it folds up pretty neatly as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a functional, seemingly ferret proof solution.

I must say, having this playpen has been a lifesaver. It's durable and I have had no problems with escaping critters. The only thing I don't like is that the whole thing is attached together, except at the two ends. I had thought it was more flexible in terms of use and that each section could detach, but I suppose it does make it safer int he end. And honestly, it's not that hard to pry the wires apart so that you can detach them.

If you do buy this product and are planning on moving it around frequently (i use mine outdoors and indoors), then I would HIGHLY recommend getting the tote bag. The cage is heavier than it looks and not as easy to move around as I had thought it would be. Especially the 11-panel one.

Overall, a great product!

This is a great price for such a large package of aspen bedding; however, the first time it was sent to me was in the plain brown wrapper (pictured) and it had multiple tears when it arrived. I may be pickier than most, but I don't like using/paying for a product that has spilled some of its contents while in transit. Amazon did make it right by resending the package boxed. The brown wrapper is not strong enough and the shredded material will make a mess if not properly contained.

I have two guinea pigs in a large cage which I change every three days to keep it sanitary and comfortable. Buying smaller packages of aspen bedding is costly and time consuming. I've tried other options such as the paper and pellet variety, but frankly, they don't last much longer, control odor or really absorb any better and they cost more to use. If you are a small pet owner, you should be aware that you should not use regular pine shaving or pellets (or cedar for that matter) even though they are less expensive; the odor they emit is harmful to a small animal's respiratory system.

In addition to the aspen bedding, I use two liners on the bottom of the cage, which I also buy in bulk. I would utilize these no matter what bedding I purchased. I have used both human grade chucks and the wee-wee pads for dogs; the former is less expensive. They provide an absorbent layer that draws the urine from the bedding as well as keeping it from seeping/pooling into the bottom of the cage; it makes clean up much easier. This system for small pet-cage maintenance took some trial and error to arrive at; it has worked well for me.

Note: The texture here is coarse, so this bedding would likely not be my pick for a smaller animal, such as a hamster. There are smoother shavings available in smaller packages; in my experience they are a lot more expensive.) My guinea pigs seem to be fine with this; rough edges don't appear to be an issue as the shavings are quickly flattened. As a breed, to the best of my knowledge, guinea pigs aren't litter box trainable and tend to soil indiscriminately, so it doesn't make sense to me to spend more on a finer grade of shaving (or fluffy bedding) at this point. The compromise here is that the bedding may not be as soft as others, but it is economical enough to change frequently (plus there is no dust or fumes,) which is more hygienic and healthier in the long run.

Update on 07/24/2012 from 09/27/11:

My enthusiasm has waned...

The price has jumped up considerably (approximately eight dollars) since my initial review and there has been another issue. The last two bags I purchased of this item had quite a few large chunks throughout; something akin to landscape bark. This time, I purchased aspen bedding from Foster's & Smith-their own brand-when it went on sale. While not less expensive, it is a softer, finer shred and of better absorbency & quality. Since this is no longer the bargin it once was, I think it best to look elsewhere.

These come delivered in a giant thick paper bag and are fairly well compressed. When you start pulling the shavings out, they will fluff up and definitely fill a lot more space than the package they are shipped in. I have no complaints about these and they cost a fraction of what you would pay at pet stores or repeatedly buying smaller quantities. My only gripe is Amazon raised the price more than 60% after the first time I bought this... I should have bought more with my first order! The newer price is still reasonably competitive, but may inspire me to double check other options before I purchase again.

Living on Maui, I am used to the fact that many times I am forced to pay higher prices for certain retail items purchased locally. One good example of this is pet supplies for our Holland Lop rabbit; at the local pet store on the island, I was shelling out $14.99 for the 3200 cubic inch package of Kaytee Aspen Bedding. Several months ago, I realized that I could purchase this same product on amazon.com for $9.43 (and, since I am a member of the Amazon Prime program, there was no additional charge for shipping & handling).

Just the other day I came across the 8.0 cubic foot package of Kaytee Aspen Bedding on amazon.com for $21.99 this is a huge savings for me over anything I could find locally, and I am thrilled to be able to save so much on this product! In addition, due to the large size & weight of the product, not only is shipping free, but amazon.com sends it out to me by UPS, so I get it within 2 days.

My only complaint (and this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that the bedding was not sealed in any kind of plastic wrapping, but simply in brown packaging paper. It's not as secure as the plastic wrapping might be, and as you can see from the photo I uploaded, there is a small rip in the package....and the bedding is starting to make a mess everywhere. I would recommend plastic packaging for this type of product in the future.

UPDATE as of September 2012: I just re-ordered this product, and was very pleased that this time it was wrapped very securely in thick plastic packaging (see photo). The price did increase by a substantial percentage, but for my situation (living in Maui), even this cost including with it the free shipping through Amazon Prime membership still beats anything else I could either purchase locally or order from the mainland.

I was a little apprehensive about having this delivered because I've seen complaints about the packaging, but it arrived inside a box and inside the package itself is plastic. So if you're worried about it getting wet/torn, it doesn't look like it should happen. The bedding is very clean, almost no dust and no smell. My guinea pigs are fine with it. Someone said the pieces are to large, but in the package I got they were regular sized shaving pieces (it may vary from one package to next, I don't know about that). I put newspaper and absorbent pads underneath to protect the cage floor because it does get moved with active animals running on it. Obviously it's a natural product, so it doesn't have any odor masking qualities, but refreshing it mid-week and a full change once a week has worked for me very well so far.

I'm not an aspen bedding expert. This is only the second bag I've purchased. I thought these were more like shavings. They have the texture of chips with shredded sharp edges. If I had to live and sleep on this stuff I'd be full of wood slivers. The last brand I bought was Harlan Sani-chips which was much more to my liking. They were wood shavings, softer w/o the sharp splintered edges. Looks like Harlan was just bought out so I hope the new owners are putting out the same product because I'm ordering a bag. I'm not buying another bag of Kaytee.

I'm going to suck it up and say that my opinion of the Kaytee litter has improved. The critters (dwarf hamsters) love to burrow into it and make nests out of it which they can't do w/ the Sani-Chips. So in the future I'll buy some of both since the critters give them both a thumbs up for different reasons.

My first effort in finding a doghouse was the PETMATE Dogloo Xt Medium which was way too small. But the PETMATE Barn Medium is just right for my 20# puppy. While the igloo shape of the Dogloo is fun, it takes up more ground space, even tho it's much smaller inside. Also, it's much harder to get into the igloo for cleaning purposes or to retrieve a toy. Jedi loved to rest inside this barn on hot days when the sun was beating down on her. And now that fall has come, she frequently takes refuge inside when it's raining or windy. The barn is sturdy, snaps together effortlessly, is easy to clean...perfect!

I purchased this heater for my 6 year old sulcuta tortoise. She lives outside and sometimes, even in Florida it drops into the 30s.

This heater is perfect because it doens't get too hot. It is also good to use outside because it it plastic. It raises her house about 15-20 degrees.

This product does what it was designed to do. Unfortunately, I did not measure the Kitty Tube and found upon arrival that this element didn't fit, and since it has a hard plastic shell, it is not bendable. However, it turned out not to be a problem, as I decided to simply use it for my other formerly stray kitty, Henry, in the garage. There's a comfy old chair with arms out there that I'd placed a microfiber blanket upon, and since it's gotten below freezing now, I needed a heating pad for him as well. He does like it, and the product seems to be energy efficient. It also appears to be well constructed. Baby Jo Jo has another heated bed en route from Amazon for his Kitty Tube. This one will fit since I've now done my homework!

We've got a labradoodle who is very difficult to groom. If you look at him funny his hair mats. We've had mixed results with other grooming brushes, most of which aren't strong enough to tackle his tough coat. Master Grooming Tools Slicker Brush is a definite cut above the other slicker brushes we've tried. It's double sided, but we found only one of the sides really effective in getting through his tough coat. But it actually does work for most of the grooming tasks. I would prefer to have one large brush head, instead of two small ones side by side, so there are no missed spots. One side has the usual bent slicker brush pins, which do a pretty good job, and the other side has straight, angled pins which don't seem to work for detangling and brushing very well. I really don't know what they are supposed to be used for. This is the first brush I bought of this type.

We have two small dogs (8 lbs and 11 lbs) so I ordered the small pet domes. I did measure prior to ordering to make sure I did not need the medium. However, while the crates are plenty long enough they could definitely be a few inches taller in proportion to the length. No reflection on the crates themselves though, love the way they collapse into small little carrying cases! Shipping was prompt and crates arrived earlier than expected.

I got this today and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is, plus it is plenty big for my cats. I have 3 cats ranging in size from 6 11 pounds and was afraid that my 11# wouldn't fit so I ordered a different kind for her that cost more. As it turns out, she would have easily fit in this. Looks like I ended up spending more and didn't have to. I love the way you can put the cat in the top by flipping it open on the hinge side and then it closes firmly. Every time we would try to put one of our cats in the typical front open carrier, they all seemed to become all paws and claws! Even standing it up on one end and putting them in feet first, didn't work. They caught on to that trick rather quickly. This is so much easier! I know the other review said it was hard to open, but I think that is a good thing. I don't want it to easily flip open without a little effort on my part. This way I can feel my cat is secure until the vet or myself is ready to get her out. I am totally happy with this and like I said, could have ordered 3 and saved some money.

UPDATE 12-31-2011: We have used this several times to take our 3 cats to the vet for check ups and nail trims etc., and these carriers are definitely the way to go. So easy to use that even the vet and his staff were impressed with them. Plus, we did end up buying 2 more so all 3 cats have their own.

This carrier is NOT the one in the picture. It is a solid top do it does not have the top wire opening. No side door either. It opens like a suitcase.

I have not used product yet, but appears awkward, and unsure of how sturdy it is.

I will not return it because I would have to pay shipping and 15% of the cost of the product. If I can not use it as a cat carrier I will use it for something else. I believe it will work for my kitten, but it seems like he will out grow it soon.

I loved the kennel. My cat is pretty large for a 1 year old. He's not fat, but he is VERY muscular. He didn't have a problem with this kennel at all. I was even delayed by 6 hours, and I let him out in the pet area, but he didn't seem to mind being in it either.

It's not real large, but it fits PURRFECTLY under the seats of the plane. He flew in cabin with me, and slept.

The product was sturdy and a great buy. My best friend after seeing it now wants one. If I had to purchase another before flying I would definitely go back to this.

I exchanged mine with wire top. I haven't used it, yet. I think it'll fit under the seat, and the right size for my bunny

While I was visiting Puerto Rico in October 1997 I fell in love with a kitten that had been abandoned. When I called the airlines to see if it would be possible to carry my new kitten on the plane WITH ME (she was too small, only 4 weeks old to go in cargo) they recommended that I buy a carrier that could fit under the airplane seat. I had not heard of anything like this, but I went to the closest pet store and asked them if they had one. THEY DID this very one for less than $20. I bought it and brought her back home with me.

Not only was the carrier a perfect fit under the seat it was a perfect size to sit on top of the seat tray so I could check on her (feed her/comfort her). PLUS I loved that you couldn't really see inside and poke around because it kept her more calm. I have had this carrier since! Nothing has broken! Anytime I had to carry her anywhere (moving, vets, pet-sitters) I used it. In her adult senior age she was used to it, and although it didn't give her a lot of wiggle room this was by far the best way to transport her. I once used a "new" carrier thinking the extra wiggle room would be appreciated but half way through the drive she peed. Sometimes less is best.

Today I am buying another one so the new kitten doesn't have to share but I still have the 1st one and I will never get rid of it.
