I found this while doing a general search on the internet for a door protector. My wife and I moved into a brand new house and were only here about 10 days when we took in a 9 year old German Shep that needed a home. Due to his situation, he has TERRIBLE separation anxiety and ended up damaging one of our doors. Short of crating him, this type of product was our only option. I have actually ordered a second one to use in conjunction with this one. Our boy is very tall and can actually reach higher than it covers, so I am going to "double up" and fix that problem. In the meantime, I also received a very nice email from the seller. Have no hesitation in trying this product out, it is a winner!

I was given one by a coworker and this thing works well. Our stupid dog has been clawing the crap out of our door so now I can finally fix the door and slap this thing on to protect it. I'd recommend this to others

Was just looking for a door guard online .... Was not sure what was available but found yours in amazon . I chose yours based on the reviews and that it went over the door handle, and came off easily. .

I also like that it had a side that made

Noise To deter them from scratching further.

All of my doors are scratched from our two lovely pugs !!

Now our new home is protected !!

Has worked great . Really covered the area perfectly and now we have two good dogs and a very happy door !!

Also it comes with a little velcroe piece that holds it in place when u are using it !! Very handy so the guard does not slide all over while the dogs are scratching .

We use ours on our font door and it is great !!

Hope this helps and thank you

Honest reviews on The CLAWGUARD - The Ultimate Door Scratch Shield - Door and Door

I didn't look at it close enough in the picture because it only covers the part of the door and frame around the door knob then down but my dog was scratching up the bottom of the door and less so the area it covers. It was not long enough for our door and the very bottom was still able to be scratched. At one point my 15 pound dog was able to knock it off the door handle and chewed up 2 sides of it. It's basically a piece of flexible plastic with a hole in it you hang on your door knob. For me it wasn't worth what I paid for it.

Our 3 dogs would scratch the door/trim every time we came home and they heard the garage door open. With Clawguard not only is the wood protected but the surface of the product has made the dogs stop scratching at all. Easily cut to fit our situation... Love it!

We bought this gate to keep our shi-tzu from running off the front porch while we're sitting out relaxing, and it does the trick nicely. It's a perfect solution for a non-permanet barrier. Set up is ridiculously easy, and the gate folds up nicely and can be put out of the way when you don't need it. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the type of gate that will keep in medium/large dogs or one that likes to jump--such as a terrier--but it's a great solution for most small dogs.

As a side note, the gate is untreated wood, so it's a snap for a DIYer to customize to fit their space with paint or stain--I stained and varnished ours for outdoor use. I don't know exactly what type of wood it's made out of, but it doesn't take stain as well as pine or oak, so use a shade or two darker than you think you want.

This gate has solved our problem with our 3 mini dachshunds running through our entire house. With the 3 panels, you are able to configure it to several positions. We have a wide opening in the hallway so this gate allows us to stand it at different angles. The dogs cannot jump over it, but it is low enough that we can step right over it. Our grandson is 8 years old and he had no problem stepping over it either. The great thing about this product is that you can just pick it up and fold it up and there's no stratching or scuffing of your walls or floors. Our dogs are not very happy, but I'm no longer cleaning up "accidents" down the hall.

I was skeptical about ordering this product because it didn't seem like it would be stable enough that it wouldn't tip over when stepping over it. I had been using the kind of gates that are supposed to be pressure mounted in the doorway, but we had been propping them up because we moved them around quite a bit. This gate was the solution we'd been looking for. My 8 year old Yorkie doesn't try to move it or jump over it (although he probably could jump over if he tried). We can step over it with ease and even if your toe catches on the top of it, it is stable enough that it doesn't tip. My kids and I have no trouble getting over it. I don't normally review products, but this gate is a lifesaver!

Honest reviews on Panel Free Standing Walk Over Wood Gate

I appreciate how quickly I received the gate. It actually worked well for a couple of weeks, however my dog who is about 20 pounds learned how to move the gate on her own. I was hoping to use it when we were away from home to confine her to a certain part of the house. We do still use it when we are home to keep her from eating all of the cat's food so it is still somewhat useful. This way we don't have to keep as close an eye on her. I also like the fact that I can step over it easily but she does not jump it. If I had to do it over again, I would not have purchased this particular gate. It would be better for a very small dog.

i love when you get a product and you don't have to assemble it. this gate folded out, looks nice, no screwing (unless you want to lock the angle in place which i don't care to do) and setups up within 1 minute. i would give it a 4 because i didn't realize how short it was, but that was my own fault, so i give it a 5. although, it keeps my terrier contained yet lets the cat jump right over it. perfect for my situation

The zones work great, within the limits listed below.

Good Points

1. Has a A, B, and AB setting which lets you control individual dog access to areas or objects (such as separate food bowls for special diets, rooms, etc)

2. The shock is mild but definitely uncomfortable (I tested it on me before I used it on the dogs). It is milder than the strong static shocks I regularly get around the house.

3. The dogs quickly learn to avoid things that cause shocks.

Limits

1. Collar wear is recommended to be limited to 12 hours due to rubbing by the stud on the neck. This can be a problem with intelligent dog and schedules requiring longer wear times. Intelligent dogs can quickly learn that the collar is the source of the shock and can wait until they are not wearing it to get into the forbidden.

2. The range increments listed (2-12 ft) are not dependable. I find mine, with direct line of sight, is half that or less.

3. The six available range settings are not enough. There are times that 1 or 2 ft increment is too much.

4. Area of affect is spherical. Keep this in mind when deciding where to use them. Depending on the range setting, just walking by the counter or under the table can set them off even if all you intended was to discourage Fluffy's nose from appearing on the counter/table top. The only way to alleviate this is to find some way to dangle the zone from the ceiling to correctly limit the reaction area to those 3 ft off the floor.

If you own an obnoxious young Siamese cat like I do, you understand the frustration of demolished house plants, tracked-all-over counter tops, and strewn trash. But not anymore! To my great suprise, cats shock-collar train really well :D

This device is really easy to use, though you won't be convinced after the first day. You DO have to make some adjustments to the system before it starts working the way it was designed to (zapping mr. kitty so he learns to not be into stuff!)

Some little pointers you need to know when setting up your system.

1) Placement of the trasmitter (the fire alarm looking thing): be sure you understand that on the maximum distance setting (6 notches) it is only projecting a radio signal out 6 feet in any direction (a total diameter of 12 feet). So, if you set it next to your house plant, kitty is only going to stay a maximum of 6 feet away from it (which is plenty to make your plant feel more comfortable ;o)

2) Collar fit (very important!!): this system will not work AT ALL if you do not have the collar tight enough! Remember that animals have fur, and it will mat down under the collar after about an hour. My mistake was to adjust the collar to a comfortable fit, which basically left the contact prongs just floating in fur (they have to contact the animal's skin in order to correct/zap them). So, the first day I was a little frusterated when Khemos just laid all over the transmitters and never got zapped. There were a lot of warning beeps, but no response from him. The next day, I got smart and adjusted the collar to a VERY snug fit, and was sure to move the hair out from under the prongs (you should be able to get just a finger tip under the end of the prongs when fitted correctly). And that's when the product started to work.....and boy did it! :D Don't be afraid that it's too powerful for a cat though. I zapped myself when I was testing it, and where it made me drop the collar (I was not expecting the shock when I got shocked) it didn't stop my heart or "hurt" me *lol*

Also note to be sure not to make kitty wear it all the time. It will eventually irritate the skin at the contact points, and there can be some hair loss. We keep Khemos locked up in 'his' bathroom at night, and put the collar back on him in the morning when he has run of the entire house. Also note that you can save the battery life on your transmitters if you turn them off when not in use.

If you have a long haired cat, you may want to shave a little bit of hair under the neck when you first start using this collar. You won't have to keep kitty looking that way forever (don't worry ;o) as the collar tends to train pretty quickly. It doesn't take long before the warning beep is enough to send them running away from the transmitter.

MORE HELPFUL INFORMATION 4-6-2011

Ok folks....I realize that I've already written enough about this product, but there are a couple additional pointers that will help you get the most out of this product:

1) Both prongs must be touching the skin at the same time in order to transmit a shock/"static correction". So if you're testing the collar on yourself before applying it to your pet, you will need to be touching BOTH prongs in order to experience.....well, the experience ;O)

2) If you happen to have a kitty with razor sharp hind claws, you will probably have to replace the handy-dandy collar this unit comes with (our's was scratched to smithereens within 6 months). After spending a great deal of time trying to find a replacement collar that would easily thread through the receiver's slots, the thought occurred to me that I could easily make a new collar! So I went down to our local JoAnn's Fabric store, and purchased about 18 inches of black, 3/4" wide elastic. To construct the collar, simply cut the old collar off the buckle, and thread one end of the elastic through it. Pull about 1 inch through and stitch through both layers to secure the buckle (it's easier than it sounds). I chose elastic over plain nylon web for it's stretchiness, and it's made a BIG difference (don't know why Innotek/PetSafe hasn't thought of this yet!?) The elastic gives a little making the collar MUCH easier/faster to fasten to a snug fit on a squirming cat. It also helps the prongs stay in better contact with the skin if the animal scratches the receiver out of position. Lastly, I think the little bit of give provides a more humane fit (which i know is a weird point to make about a 'shock collar' ;o)

These zones are a terrific investment. Our dog is very intelligent, so my wife and I devised a plan. I always put the collar on before we take the dog outside. He gets so excited that he associates the collar with going outside and never puts 2 and 2 together. He has figured out that the source of the shock emanates from the zone though.

Even so, he doesn't mess with them. After numerous episodes of his destructive shenanigans and many failed attempts at containment, this finally did the trick!!

Honest reviews on PetSafe Pawz Away Extra Indoor Pet Barrier, ZND-1000

This product simply did not work. I have two beagle puppies, 6 and 10 months. The 6 month old puppy didn't seem to even notice anything. The 10-month puppy twitched a little every few seconds but kept right on doing whatever she wanted to do.

I put the collar on my wrist to see if it was working and because I wanted to see what I was subjecting my dogs to. It was working, but the range was sporadic sometimes up to the three feet advertised and sometimes I had to be very close. The shock was very, very mild. I have since bought a SportDog 400S collar and it works great on the lowest setting, though of course it is manual so I have to actually be watching the puppies to correct anything. But the point is, my dogs are not immune to the shock training...just the ZND-1000 is not even close to powerful enough.

A word of caution I bought the product from because they were cheaper than amazon at the time (wish now I had bought from amazon because they have a better return policy). When I returned it they took a 20% re-stocking fee, so I lost $27 for the two collars and systems. Check the store's return policy before you buy this!!!! The packaging is hermetically sealed and it is impossible to get the system out to test it without destroying the packaging, so if the store wants all packaging intact for a return you are basically totally committed to the product whether it works or not.

We purchased the disc as an add-on to the Innotek contain n train system. While it took some time to get our 2 dogs conditioned to the underground fence and the remote trainer, the disc worked right out of the box... Within a day, both dogs avoided the area and after less than a month, both dogs seemed to respect the zone whether they had their collars on or not. We've had one disc for around 3 months and just ordered a second one for another area of the house because we love how well the zones work.

Best ProSelect Stainless Steel Modular Cage with Plastic Tray Deals

These modular crates come fron Pet Edge, a large grooming and pet supply wholesaler. My company has been a customer of theirs for approximately 4 years, and we have 14 of these crate modules that we bought directly from Pete Edge for approximately $200 ea.

They are pretty much indestructable, with the exception of the spring loaded wire latch used to secure the crate door closed. When a dog puts pressure on the door the latch bends, and when you attempt to bend it back into the correct shape, it breaks. 6 out of the 14 crate modules we own currently have broken spring latches. No other part has ever broken on any of the crates.

Pet Edge has available for sale every spare part for these crates except one. You guessed it, the only one that breaks, the spring latch. This latch is less wire than a coat hanger and a 4 cent spring. Even after offering to buy complete new doors their best suggestion was for me to just replace the $1200 crates with new ones.

I have no choice and will, but they will certainly come from a different manufacturer.

Pinnacle Holistic Duck and Potato Formula Dog Food Review

Pinnacle Holistic Duck and Potato Formula Dog Food, 7.5-Pound

We have a German Shepard/ Akita mix with food allergies to just about everything. This is the only food she can eat without a reaction. Natural Balance now has a very similar limited ingredient, duck and sweet potato product, but for some reason, that one makes the dog's stomach run. The biggest cons with this product is price and availability. We have to order it online because there are no local retailers that carry this product, and having such an expensive dog food shipped only makes the price harder to handle. But the dog's gatta eat!

Our dog had a groin rash. On the advice of our breeder we switched him to duck and potato. He was previously on a grain based dog food. His rash has gone away and his skin is healthy. When we first got this, I tried mixing in the new dog food with the old, but he picked out and ate only the new dog food. He actually enjoys eating this. Highly recommended.

I was so relieved to find it and from all that I read, it gets great reviews across the board. the only draw back is that its not stocked in many local pet stores but now that i can buy it on line, that problem is settled.

We switched to Pinnacle Duck and Potato to help solve our rescue beagle's food allergies. Prior to using this dog food, she would scratch wounds in her face, but following the switch, her allergies cleared up and she allergy free for five years now. We have a Golden who inhales his food. In fact, he has an amazing resemblance to my Shop-Vac when he's eating.

This has slowed him somewhat, but it's certainly not a relaxing dinner over a glass of wine. It's probably a 50% improvement from a 30 second affair out to maybe 45 seconds.

We also tried one of the bowls with the built-in obstructions. He pushed it all over the room trying to get to his food. Then he picked it up and dumped it out.

At least he hasn't tried to eat the ball. Yet...

I have been using this product for about 6 months for my 80 lb dog. He used to gulp his food down so fast he would throw up after almost every feeding. We had experienced choking, vomiting, and belching before we tried the large stainless steel Portion Pacer. Since we have been using it our dog Boomer eats much slower and does not vomit after eating. We lost Boomers sister to GDV (Bloat) a year and a half ago and we were really concerned that the same thing would happen to him. Unfortunately the bowls designed to slow dogs down didn't work for him as he has a pushed in face and couldn't eat around the pegs in the bowl. This product has been a life saver for our dog. He has never tried to take it out of the bowl and he eats around it without a problem. I would recommend this to anyone whose dog eats too fast. Big Bonus, dishwasher safe!!

Bought it and used it once for my fast eating Basset Hound. It worked reasonably well. Then my slower eating Basset Hound picked it up out of the bowl and carried it about 10 feet before dropping it on the tile floor where it shattered immediately. It's a heavy ball but unless you have very small dogs that can't pick it up I would avoid this one. Opt for the stainless steel model or for an obstacle that's built into the bowl.

Honest reviews on Omega Paw Portion Pacer, Stainless Steel, Large

I have bought a ton of stuff off of Amazon and sadly have never written a review on anything. Not today, this item impressed me so much that I am doing it right now! I have read some of the other reviews and to the ones that say it doesn't really work, they are clueless and don't know how to use this item. First off, you have to figure out the correct size you need based on what kind of bowls you use at home. I bought the small balls which are about the size of a tennis ball and they take up MOST of the room in my Chihuahua's dog bowls. You can't put this ball in the middle of a gigantic dog bowl and then complain it isn't really effective. They need to work for the food to slow down the eating, in my situation they have just enough room around the ball and bowl to fit their snout and lick up some food. This item tripled my dog's eating time if not more! Buy this product but figure out what size ball and bowl combination works best for you. Not sure how big large is but size small is about the size of a tennis ball. Click here for more size info from the manufacturers website: I am so grateful for this product!

K&H 1.5 gal. Thermal Bowl, assorted colors

I provide some food, shelter and water for stray animals during the

cold winter months. I used to have to break the ice out of the water

dish several times a day and hope that my little friends came before

it froze over. This thermal bowl is exactly what I needed! We've had

temperatures in the single digits, and the bowl keeps the water liquid

without a sign of ice. I have recommended it to friends who have

outdoor pets.

I purchased this bowl for a feral cat colony (housed in a garage transformed into a strawbale "barn" for the kitties) and needed something that was sturdy enough to not be tipped over by a few of the cats who like to drink with their paws on the sides of the water bowl.

Living in Minnesota, a water bowl that would keep water from freezing is essential. In these parts the season known as "Fall" lasts approximately 12 hrs. The timeframe it goes from 78 to a daytime high of 38 the next day, with overnight lows in the 20's and 30's.

We've already had overnight lows (with windchill) in the low 20's and teens so I've had a chance to see how well the bowl would handle a dozen kitties as well as the cold temps.

Works like a charm. One day the water was frozen, I plugged in the bowl and no more frozen water the next day, and the weeks following.

If you have outdoor pets and cold overnight lows, this water bowl is what you need. Didn't seem to up my electric bill either which is nice.

Yes, I would recommend this item. Also, it took 1 week from time of ordering to arrive. I think they shipped the day after the order was processed, the only reason it took that long to arrive, was due to a weekend that fell a few days after I ordered.

Best Deals for K&H Thermal Bowl

I purchased this bowl as I have two dogs that stay outdoors. As the winters in Nebraska can get cold, I figured this would be the best option instead of refilling their water bowl twice an hour. I tested it out in the upper twenty degree temperatures along with another bowl of water (that froze) and was satisfied with the outcome of the water in this heated bowl. The bowl itself does not get hot, but warm enough to keep the water from freezing. The cable also has a metal "spring" surrounding it as an anti-chew device. As I see it being a deterrent, I would say that if your dog is a chewer, you might want to cover it with something else (like PVC pipe) and secure it well. I give this product 5 stars!

P.S. Before people start critizing that my dogs are outside, they have a heated doghouse. Thanks!

Honest reviews on K&H Thermal Bowl

I've tried one other bowl. It did not keep water from freezing when air temps fell below about 10 degrees. This bowl has performed much better. We've had several nights with temps below zero and have not had a problem yet.

We use our heated bowl in the henhouse where we have a small flock of two dozen laying hens. It's so much easier to carry a plastic milk-gallon of water to them every morning instead of chipping ice from their bowl, or using a 5 gallon poultry waterer with a heated coil. We live in Maine, where so far this winter the temperature has been hovering near zero. The water is always thawed. It's wonderful.
