The zones work great, within the limits listed below.

Good Points

1. Has a A, B, and AB setting which lets you control individual dog access to areas or objects (such as separate food bowls for special diets, rooms, etc)

2. The shock is mild but definitely uncomfortable (I tested it on me before I used it on the dogs). It is milder than the strong static shocks I regularly get around the house.

3. The dogs quickly learn to avoid things that cause shocks.

Limits

1. Collar wear is recommended to be limited to 12 hours due to rubbing by the stud on the neck. This can be a problem with intelligent dog and schedules requiring longer wear times. Intelligent dogs can quickly learn that the collar is the source of the shock and can wait until they are not wearing it to get into the forbidden.

2. The range increments listed (2-12 ft) are not dependable. I find mine, with direct line of sight, is half that or less.

3. The six available range settings are not enough. There are times that 1 or 2 ft increment is too much.

4. Area of affect is spherical. Keep this in mind when deciding where to use them. Depending on the range setting, just walking by the counter or under the table can set them off even if all you intended was to discourage Fluffy's nose from appearing on the counter/table top. The only way to alleviate this is to find some way to dangle the zone from the ceiling to correctly limit the reaction area to those 3 ft off the floor.

If you own an obnoxious young Siamese cat like I do, you understand the frustration of demolished house plants, tracked-all-over counter tops, and strewn trash. But not anymore! To my great suprise, cats shock-collar train really well :D

This device is really easy to use, though you won't be convinced after the first day. You DO have to make some adjustments to the system before it starts working the way it was designed to (zapping mr. kitty so he learns to not be into stuff!)

Some little pointers you need to know when setting up your system.

1) Placement of the trasmitter (the fire alarm looking thing): be sure you understand that on the maximum distance setting (6 notches) it is only projecting a radio signal out 6 feet in any direction (a total diameter of 12 feet). So, if you set it next to your house plant, kitty is only going to stay a maximum of 6 feet away from it (which is plenty to make your plant feel more comfortable ;o)

2) Collar fit (very important!!): this system will not work AT ALL if you do not have the collar tight enough! Remember that animals have fur, and it will mat down under the collar after about an hour. My mistake was to adjust the collar to a comfortable fit, which basically left the contact prongs just floating in fur (they have to contact the animal's skin in order to correct/zap them). So, the first day I was a little frusterated when Khemos just laid all over the transmitters and never got zapped. There were a lot of warning beeps, but no response from him. The next day, I got smart and adjusted the collar to a VERY snug fit, and was sure to move the hair out from under the prongs (you should be able to get just a finger tip under the end of the prongs when fitted correctly). And that's when the product started to work.....and boy did it! :D Don't be afraid that it's too powerful for a cat though. I zapped myself when I was testing it, and where it made me drop the collar (I was not expecting the shock when I got shocked) it didn't stop my heart or "hurt" me *lol*

Also note to be sure not to make kitty wear it all the time. It will eventually irritate the skin at the contact points, and there can be some hair loss. We keep Khemos locked up in 'his' bathroom at night, and put the collar back on him in the morning when he has run of the entire house. Also note that you can save the battery life on your transmitters if you turn them off when not in use.

If you have a long haired cat, you may want to shave a little bit of hair under the neck when you first start using this collar. You won't have to keep kitty looking that way forever (don't worry ;o) as the collar tends to train pretty quickly. It doesn't take long before the warning beep is enough to send them running away from the transmitter.

MORE HELPFUL INFORMATION 4-6-2011

Ok folks....I realize that I've already written enough about this product, but there are a couple additional pointers that will help you get the most out of this product:

1) Both prongs must be touching the skin at the same time in order to transmit a shock/"static correction". So if you're testing the collar on yourself before applying it to your pet, you will need to be touching BOTH prongs in order to experience.....well, the experience ;O)

2) If you happen to have a kitty with razor sharp hind claws, you will probably have to replace the handy-dandy collar this unit comes with (our's was scratched to smithereens within 6 months). After spending a great deal of time trying to find a replacement collar that would easily thread through the receiver's slots, the thought occurred to me that I could easily make a new collar! So I went down to our local JoAnn's Fabric store, and purchased about 18 inches of black, 3/4" wide elastic. To construct the collar, simply cut the old collar off the buckle, and thread one end of the elastic through it. Pull about 1 inch through and stitch through both layers to secure the buckle (it's easier than it sounds). I chose elastic over plain nylon web for it's stretchiness, and it's made a BIG difference (don't know why Innotek/PetSafe hasn't thought of this yet!?) The elastic gives a little making the collar MUCH easier/faster to fasten to a snug fit on a squirming cat. It also helps the prongs stay in better contact with the skin if the animal scratches the receiver out of position. Lastly, I think the little bit of give provides a more humane fit (which i know is a weird point to make about a 'shock collar' ;o)

These zones are a terrific investment. Our dog is very intelligent, so my wife and I devised a plan. I always put the collar on before we take the dog outside. He gets so excited that he associates the collar with going outside and never puts 2 and 2 together. He has figured out that the source of the shock emanates from the zone though.

Even so, he doesn't mess with them. After numerous episodes of his destructive shenanigans and many failed attempts at containment, this finally did the trick!!

Honest reviews on PetSafe Pawz Away Extra Indoor Pet Barrier, ZND-1000

This product simply did not work. I have two beagle puppies, 6 and 10 months. The 6 month old puppy didn't seem to even notice anything. The 10-month puppy twitched a little every few seconds but kept right on doing whatever she wanted to do.

I put the collar on my wrist to see if it was working and because I wanted to see what I was subjecting my dogs to. It was working, but the range was sporadic sometimes up to the three feet advertised and sometimes I had to be very close. The shock was very, very mild. I have since bought a SportDog 400S collar and it works great on the lowest setting, though of course it is manual so I have to actually be watching the puppies to correct anything. But the point is, my dogs are not immune to the shock training...just the ZND-1000 is not even close to powerful enough.

A word of caution I bought the product from because they were cheaper than amazon at the time (wish now I had bought from amazon because they have a better return policy). When I returned it they took a 20% re-stocking fee, so I lost $27 for the two collars and systems. Check the store's return policy before you buy this!!!! The packaging is hermetically sealed and it is impossible to get the system out to test it without destroying the packaging, so if the store wants all packaging intact for a return you are basically totally committed to the product whether it works or not.

We purchased the disc as an add-on to the Innotek contain n train system. While it took some time to get our 2 dogs conditioned to the underground fence and the remote trainer, the disc worked right out of the box... Within a day, both dogs avoided the area and after less than a month, both dogs seemed to respect the zone whether they had their collars on or not. We've had one disc for around 3 months and just ordered a second one for another area of the house because we love how well the zones work.

Cheap Benny's Bully Liver Chops Original Dog Treats

I was first introduced to Benny Bully's Liver Chops at a veterinary exhibit hall. The company was giving out free samples, and when I told them I had a picky "treat-snob" dog, they handed me a pack of liver chop treats. Well, the company was correct my dog couldn't resist these liver treats.

What I like about this product: it's made in the USA, has no additives, fillers, coloring, or preservatives, and they are extremely palatable. The ingredients are simple to understand just one: Pure beef liver.

These treats are perfect for puppy obedience training for that dog who isn't food motivated even he (or she) will sit for these!

We researched a lot of portable, soft sided kennels. After reading review after review...we finally settled on this one. Couldn't be happier! It has no "odor" like some of the other kennels seemed to have. Also for our growing Golden, I really love the open air mesh on the sides. Assembly was super-easy really no assembly required. It just popped up. Overall, would rate it 6 out of 5 stars. The one we ordered will be plenty big for our Retriever when grown. Oh...did I mention how nice that a mat came WITH the kennel? A really nice fleecy mat that fits perfectly. I hope others like it as much as we do!

This pet crate was the perfect size for my chihuahua mix. He weighs about 3 lbs. The mat in the bottom is soft and removes easily to be washed. The crate folds easily and seems sturdy. I like that the crate comes with 2 zippered pouches for storing items in. It also comes with stakes and has a built in lead, so you can stake the cage out and tie the dog down if you were out where they couldn't run loose. The only issue I had was that my dog had figured out how to escape from the top zipper! A zip tie holding the 2 zippers together fixed that issue. I also clip the front zippers together when I need our pup to stay in, so that way he can't sneak out. I use the clip that is on the end of the built in lead, so it all works great. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I looked at a lot of crates. For the price and features, this one is wonderful!

Like this cage and my dog likes it. BUT it comes with a liner that when I washed for the first time came apart along the zipper. I haven't even had this 15 days. I notified the seller and asked if was possible them just to send a liner, thinking it would be easier than sending the cage back. They said they didn't have any liners to send that I would have to return the whole cage. Also that now they considered it damaged and would not give a full refund and also the shipping would not be refunded and it would cost me send it back even though I would be getting another cage in its place. WOULD NEVER ORDER THIS IF I WERE YOU, THEY WON'T STAND BEHIND IT.

Honest reviews on Travel Pet Crate in Blue

We used to lug our yellow lab's 42" metal crate with us wherever we went. He's still a pup and hence a bit of a chewer. The metal crate was cumbersome to load into our SUV, rattled like crazy during the car ride and took up half the rear passenger space. We knew there had to be a better solution. A quick search for "travel crate" brought us here. We looked at several crates, the first one we bought (also a GoPetClub) was too tall to fit in our SUV so we returned it and got this one.

The AC40 is a bit smaller than your average 42" crate but there's still plenty of space for our 72lbs lab to turn around and find a comfy spot. The frame itself is very easy to setup and once the bars are connected (one on each side) it is very sturdy but still light and easy to handle. The external accessory bag is a good size and can hold leashes, treats, and water bottle easily. There's a rollup mesh door and sunroof and what appears to be a short leash. The included crate pad has a soft faux-wool cover over a corrugated plastic board underneath, it isn't soft by any means but it sure beats sleeping on a cold, hard surface. It seems designed to be easy to clean in case of any accidents.

The biggest drawback is that the interior of the crate has too many places where a bored puppy could get his/her chew on. The short leash hangs inside and there are a few too many exposed flaps and seams. We do pull the short leash out through the sunroof when he's crated and also treated the exposed flaps and seams with some bitter apple. So far nothing has been chewed off.

Some other drawbacks there isn't a solid outer panel you can zip over the mesh panels to give your doggie some privacy or shade. There aren't any tie down loops at the corners so I'm not sure why there's even a short leash. I doubt the material is water resistant. I wouldn't plan on using this for a camping trip unless the weather calls for completely clear skies or you can bring another tent/canopy just for the dog.

Overall we are really happy with this crate and would recommend it if your pet isn't big on chewing, is crate trained and your use case doesn't involve outdoor adventures with the chance for inclement weather.

I bought this kennel to use when we go camping. It is lightweight, easy to set up and is very sturdy. I would not recommend it for kennel/crate training but its perfect for a dog who is happy in a kennel. When we're not camping we keep it in the livingroom as a second kennel and our dog chooses to go in it all on her own! It literally sets up in less than a minute and has a couple handy compartments on it for leashes and stuff. We love it! Ohand it comes with a nice, fleece pad too! Bonus!

This toy lasted an hour with my dog. This toy is not recommended for powerful chewing dogs like American Bully's! :(

I ordered one of the Small, Blue Stuff n' Throw Balls for my Mom's Pomeranian by accident. Her dog had taken an interest in my dog's Stuff n' Throw LOCK (which is pictured instead of the ball), and I thought ordering a small version (ours is large, for a Golden) would be as easy as looking at the photo, then choosing the size. So, we were a little surprised when the ball came, instead of the lock, but we've been pretty happy with it. My dogs have the large ball, in addition to the large lock. We stuff both of them with peanut butter, as does my Mom, instead of using treats. The balls hold a lot more peanut butter than the locks, and they're much easier to clean. I can see how the lock would hold treats pretty well, and how dogs could reach in there with their tongue/teeth to pull the treats out, but I don't know how easy it would be (or if it would be possible at all) for a dog to get the treat out of the ball. I suppose it depends on the size of the treat and how far you put it into the ball. Overall, we're happy with the lock and the ball. We probably like the ball a little better, just because it's easier to clean and has more surface area inside for more treats/peanut butter.

I got this toy for my Bearded Collie. He is normally bored by treat toys (the treat pocket is too small on most kongs and other toys and all he can do is get small kibbles out and they come out too easily), but this toy has a wider pocket for treats...so I can stick larger biscuits in the pocket which he has to work to get out. I think he also likes the smell of the stuff n' throw. It smells like vanilla, not rubber. It also appears to stand up to moderate chewing. Best of all (for me) is that it is non-toxic and made in the USA!

Honest reviews on Wigzi Stuff-n-Throw Ball - Treat Stuffer Chew Ball

This ball is awesome, would recommend to anyone with a dog.

I got medium size; same size as tennis ball.

Why this ball is great:

-Great bounce, almost acts as a 'kong' at times because of the holes in ball

-Durable. My dog chews though just about any toy she has / balls. This is still in perfect condition after 6 months

-Glows in the dark

-Great price

-Dishwasher safe

-Made in USA (Maine)

-Non-toxic

-Floats

-Smells nice, not rubbery

-For whatever reason(s), she just loves this ball. It has been one of her favorite toys since I got it

I looked pretty extensively for a dog house before settling on the Precision. Our dog isn't going to be in it full-time so I think it's going to suit her fine. The materials are decent quality. The roof isn't removeable unless you don't screw it down which is what we did. Because the roof isn't heavy it's easy to lift off for cleaning. We live in an area with extreme heat and cold. I would NOT recommend this house for those types of climates if this is going to be where your dog actually lives. There is no insulation and it will not be sufficiently warm in the winter, nor provide cool refuge in the summer. However, if you are looking for a decent house for a reasonable price that will provide adequate shelter for limited periods of time, then this is a good choice. I also would not recommend this house for a dog over 60-70 pounds. Although the specs indicate it will hold larger dogs, there's no way a bigger dog will be comfortable.

I had hoped that this toy might prove more durable than all of the other toys we've been buying for Ruby, our seven-month old mixed breed puppy (35 lbs), but three days after receiving this from Amazon it was completely destroyed. Oh well. Maybe this was the penultimate fish? Is there another, even more indestructible dog toy out there somewhere? She chewed the last Kong toy into pieces.

I have a 50lb black lab and the Tuffy toys are the absolute best! Abby is a big chewer and has a tendency to tear through toys extremely quickly (she has been known to chew through a rope in about 15 minutes). We have bought several of the Tuffy Ultimate toys and they all have lasted her at least 6 weeks a very long time for her! She absolutely loves them all. The fish is probably her favorite. We can tell her to "go get your fish!" and she'll scour the house until she finds it! Buying from amazon is definitely the way to go too almost half the price of buying them at our local pet store.

Best Deals for Tuffy's Ultimate Fish Dog Toy

My dog Scooby loves his fish. This is one toy that he plays with for hours and it still looks brand new. Wonderful product for any age dog. I have others that Scooby got when he was a puppy (he's now 4 years old) and they all look like new. Just throw them in the washer and dryer to clean them up.

Honest reviews on Tuffy's Ultimate Fish Dog Toy

Four months after purchase this is my dog's favorite toy, and it's still in one piece (mostly). She ripped the back corner and disabled the squeaker but other than that this toy has lasted the test of time.

My dog is a 120 pound great dane that will completely destroy a typical pet shop toy in about 20 minutes, or at a minimum remove all the stuffing and make it look like it snowed inside the house.

I'd recommend this style toy to anyone and plan on buying more.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Tuffy's Ultimate Fish Dog Toy

Don't get me wrong, this is a solid toy. Much more solid than I would have thought based on the picture. Our dog, a Golden Doodle, is a heavy chewer. A few times at the black edging was enough to get the toy opened, the two squeakers "killed" and all of the stuffing pulled out. The only reason it lasted a week, I think, was because any time it looked like he was really going to tear into it, we distracted him with another toy. If this is a toy one would use for fetching, it would probably work for you.
