Our dog Annie is a frisbee enthusiast. She doesn't show much excitement when we pull out an old tennis ball for catch. But get out a frisbee-or even MENTION the word Frisbee and she goes bonkers. The only problem is, she is part husky/ part lab and those front canines rip through plastic like a hot knife through butter. Yesterday she literally chewed a cheap plastic frisbee to shreds in under ten tosses.

Enter the CHUCKIT! this thing will last through thousands of throws without ripping or fraying. The shape and action it displays during flight must drive Annie nuts because she pursues it like a starved wolf. The Chuck-it Flying squirrel is a genius product. Did you know that over time, tennis balls can flatten your dogs teeth? It's like sandpaper on their canines! The Flying Squirrel is a very fun and durable alternative. Now, my dogs and I have been through A LOT of flying squirrels... we have lost a few to trees (my fault), and my dogs have lost a few to their own forgetfulness (dragged them off someplace and forgot to bring them back) but we've rarely lost a squirrel to destruction. This little creature is far more durable than it looks. That's not to say that a determined mutt couldn't shred it if he/she wanted to, but under supervision of a human this toy should last a very long time. Here are some secrets that I've learned so far. The Medium size is the strongest, and lasts the longest. The large is the weakest and I have lost 2 of these to destruction (and my dogs don't chew on toys... just a few catches frayed it). Chuck-it company was a good sport about this and replaced the product with my preferred medium. The small is great and strong but doesn't fly as well or as far as the larger sizes, but is certainly more convenient for smaller retrievers to carry.

Bailey, my Golden mix goes absolutely bananas for his flying squirrel. It's paws down his favorite toy on the planet. It works in the air, the ocean, the lake, the beach, everywhere. It slows down before landing (on a good throw) so that he can catch it and look graceful doing it. If he misses and it lands, he doesn't have to dig it up like a standard Frisbee, it's curved sides make for easy pick-up (which I might ad really saves your lawn if you are playing in the yard!!!) I also find that for my crazy retriever this is a safer toy to play with because he is less likely to do his sliding into home base, or throwing himself into a series of dangerous acrobatics to get his "prey", which is good considering he already destroyed (and had replaced) his ACL on a tennis ball.

Well, I've raved about this toy for long enough. Remember, medium is the strongest, and have a blast with this thing! Also, if your dog rips it up it's probably your fault for not supervising!

This toy rocks for Winter play. IT flies as far as you like, is easy to throw, the dog LOVES it, and it does NOT sink in the snow and get buried or lost like a ball does. Our chocolate lab lives to fetch balls, and I think she likes this thing even better. The best part is that she actually has learned to look up at the squirrel and watch it fly instead of just running full out towards where she thinks we threw the ball, then not seeing it land and the ball getting lost in the grass. Great product. Remember, it is not intended to be a chew toy, so when someone says it doesn't last, they are likely using it as a chew toy instead of a fetch toyand there IS a difference. This product has lasted for the last 6 months of winter, being fetched five times a day by a very heavy chewer dog. She chews on it a little while fetching, but we do not leave it with her to chew on. We have yet to use it in water, but supposedly they float!

Oh yeah, it also taught our dog to catch a frisbee very quickly just by chucking it!! Ha Ha!! No really, it did. I think due to its graceful nature of floating down to the ground she had enough time to catch it in her mouth early on. Great product!

Our golden retriever, Sadie the Wonder Dog, is an absolute nut for chasing and retrieving things. Her preference is for balls: tennis, softballs, rubber balls, hard baseballs, anything round that bounces. When a ball is not available, she'll come over to us and drop a rock at our feet. While I usually tell her ,"no, I will not throw a rock," Sadie's acting chops are finely tuned, and I sometimes give into them. That she finds them is a tribute to her and her breed, I suppose.

The problem with the objects mentioned above is that they're not always safe for either dog or home. Rocks and baseballs are obvious, but our vet (I mean, Sadie's vet) informed us that catching tennis balls can be rough on a dog's teeth. Enter the squirrel, a product from "Chuckit," the people who invented the Chuckit flinger--a whipping arm that enables you to toss a ball several hundred feet for a great canine work out.

THe "Flying Squirrel" won't go as far as a Chuckit flung ball, but it can hover a bit when thrown right, and may be desireable for somewhat older dogs, or any dog on a hot day. Because of it's aerodynamic properties, I find it easier to throw than a frisbee, although it won't go as far. Again, this could be an advantage. It's covered in soft material, and Sadie has yet to rip it or chew threw it, contrary to one reviewer's experience here. I'm wondering what kind of dog that person has, the "sporting" dogs were bred to retrieve fowl (and tennis balls?) without injuring (well--further injuring--since the bird has already been shot!) or clamping down on the prey.

I have to admit that if a ball is around, the squirrel gets cursory attention, but it seems to have more appeal than a rock. I think it's good for variety, or when you or --especially--your pet want a quieter, less energetic day of throwing and retrieving. The bright colors and relatively slow flight make it easier to track and find, and it fits easily into a backpack or a backseat so you're ready when your dog lets you know it's time to run!

I bought this product because of the ingredient list. I feed my dogs home cooked food and although I always try to balance their diet there are times they don't get everything they need. This product had some of the ingredients that they need and the one dog needs a probiotic so this was something I thought would work as a daily supplement. My small dog will growl at food she doesn't like and will leave her veggies but she doesn't seem to mind this powder and she has been eating some of her veggies if I put the powder on them. Overall, the dog that needs the probiotics seems to be better with less stomach problems. Not sure if the powder was responsible for their decrease in scratching but since they stopped itching about 2 weeks after starting this product it probably did help. I also have been adding more oil during this time because their skin gets very dry in the colder weather causing them to itch. But they are definitely better than last year when they only had the oil. I wish this could be bought on the automatic shipping for convenience.

We have a Golden who inhales his food. In fact, he has an amazing resemblance to my Shop-Vac when he's eating.

This has slowed him somewhat, but it's certainly not a relaxing dinner over a glass of wine. It's probably a 50% improvement from a 30 second affair out to maybe 45 seconds.

We also tried one of the bowls with the built-in obstructions. He pushed it all over the room trying to get to his food. Then he picked it up and dumped it out.

At least he hasn't tried to eat the ball. Yet...

I have been using this product for about 6 months for my 80 lb dog. He used to gulp his food down so fast he would throw up after almost every feeding. We had experienced choking, vomiting, and belching before we tried the large stainless steel Portion Pacer. Since we have been using it our dog Boomer eats much slower and does not vomit after eating. We lost Boomers sister to GDV (Bloat) a year and a half ago and we were really concerned that the same thing would happen to him. Unfortunately the bowls designed to slow dogs down didn't work for him as he has a pushed in face and couldn't eat around the pegs in the bowl. This product has been a life saver for our dog. He has never tried to take it out of the bowl and he eats around it without a problem. I would recommend this to anyone whose dog eats too fast. Big Bonus, dishwasher safe!!

Bought it and used it once for my fast eating Basset Hound. It worked reasonably well. Then my slower eating Basset Hound picked it up out of the bowl and carried it about 10 feet before dropping it on the tile floor where it shattered immediately. It's a heavy ball but unless you have very small dogs that can't pick it up I would avoid this one. Opt for the stainless steel model or for an obstacle that's built into the bowl.

I have bought a ton of stuff off of Amazon and sadly have never written a review on anything. Not today, this item impressed me so much that I am doing it right now! I have read some of the other reviews and to the ones that say it doesn't really work, they are clueless and don't know how to use this item. First off, you have to figure out the correct size you need based on what kind of bowls you use at home. I bought the small balls which are about the size of a tennis ball and they take up MOST of the room in my Chihuahua's dog bowls. You can't put this ball in the middle of a gigantic dog bowl and then complain it isn't really effective. They need to work for the food to slow down the eating, in my situation they have just enough room around the ball and bowl to fit their snout and lick up some food. This item tripled my dog's eating time if not more! Buy this product but figure out what size ball and bowl combination works best for you. I have now had this End-table Hideaway for my Greyhound for 3 years. Since our family room is open to our kitchen and our dogs hang out with us, I wanted to do away with the unsightly hairy dog beds. Plus it was a challenge to figure out what corner or out of the way spot the 'dog bed' could go in. This solved it. Now I don't have to worry about that any more. It looks just as new today. She has not scratched up the inside with her long nails a bit. She really does love it, she can curl up or spread out when she wants. It really is made well. I purchased the large (Exterior Dimensions: 31.5" H x 25" W x 35.5" L). The door on the large does not have the removable insert, the video shows. I just left the front door off. I purchased this bowl for a feral cat colony (housed in a garage transformed into a strawbale "barn" for the kitties) and needed something that was sturdy enough to not be tipped over by a few of the cats who like to drink with their paws on the sides of the water bowl.

Living in Minnesota, a water bowl that would keep water from freezing is essential. In these parts the season known as "Fall" lasts approximately 12 hrs. The timeframe it goes from 78 to a daytime high of 38 the next day, with overnight lows in the 20's and 30's.

We've already had overnight lows (with windchill) in the low 20's and teens so I've had a chance to see how well the bowl would handle a dozen kitties as well as the cold temps.

Works like a charm. One day the water was frozen, I plugged in the bowl and no more frozen water the next day, and the weeks following.

If you have outdoor pets and cold overnight lows, this water bowl is what you need. Didn't seem to up my electric bill either which is nice.

Yes, I would recommend this item. Also, it took 1 week from time of ordering to arrive. I think they shipped the day after the order was processed, the only reason it took that long to arrive, was due to a weekend that fell a few days after I ordered.

Best Deals for K&H Thermal Bowl

I purchased this bowl as I have two dogs that stay outdoors. As the winters in Nebraska can get cold, I figured this would be the best option instead of refilling their water bowl twice an hour. I tested it out in the upper twenty degree temperatures along with another bowl of water (that froze) and was satisfied with the outcome of the water in this heated bowl. The bowl itself does not get hot, but warm enough to keep the water from freezing. The cable also has a metal "spring" surrounding it as an anti-chew device. As I see it being a deterrent, I would say that if your dog is a chewer, you might want to cover it with something else (like PVC pipe) and secure it well. I give this product 5 stars!

P.S. Before people start critizing that my dogs are outside, they have a heated doghouse. Thanks!

We use our heated bowl in the henhouse where we have a small flock of two dozen laying hens. It's so much easier to carry a plastic milk-gallon of water to them every morning instead of chipping ice from their bowl, or using a 5 gallon poultry waterer with a heated coil. We live in Maine, where so far this winter the temperature has been hovering near zero. The water is always thawed. It's wonderful.

My three dogs go crazy over any Dingo product. However, they are expensive compared to other dog treats and after our dogs have chewed out the meat filling, they leave the rawhide cover on the floor and beg for another Dingo even though they haven't finished the first one. Pig Ears seem to be a better value for the money because the dogs eat the entire treat and end up spending more time exercising their teeth. I'll save the Dingos for very special occasions.

I didn't wanted to buy anything that was made with rawhide but a friend gave my pup a Dingo and he loved it. So I forced myself and brought my first bag of Dingo Dental Bones a month ago. Stitch loved it! I loved it too because he actually spent a good 45 minutes~2 hours on a Dingo Dental Bone. I didn't really like the red dye in the chicken meat but it wasn't overwhelming. If you actually crack a piece of the chicken off you can still see some non-dyed chicken.

So I ordered a second bag of Dingo, just the original red package. The red dye was so strong that the whole piece of chicken was blood red and it even DYED the rawhide pinkish red!! It's kind of ridiculous to dye something the dog can smell! It's not necessary as long it tastes delicious.

Anyhow I am on the search for something else, hopefully a better alternative other than Dingos.

At least it wasn't made in China.

I rarely do product reviews, but I had to in this case. My Ori Pei was starting to act aggressive toward the teen kids, and that was simply not acceptable. I tried all the ghost whisperer techniques, read a bunch of books, etc. Nothing worked. I saw a can of this in the pet store and figured it couldn't hurt. 2 uses was all it took! First use she barked up a storm, but backed off. It took about 15 seconds, and she went and laid down nice and calm. Like the others said, now she just sees the can and changes her behaviour. Only time I actually spray it now is when she's acting crazy and I can't get her attention (like barking at the fence at the dogs next door). One spray, even from 50ft. away and she stops acting up. I'm out now, so I'm stocking up. Amazing product.

I have the most horrible dogs when it comes to barking....we couldnt stand it anymore and I was about to go insane. I didnt want shock collars so I looked for something else and bought this based on all the good reviews. Day 3 and not 1 bark....NOT 1!! I was amazed at how well this product has worked in controlling my 1 year old shihlhasa puppies nonsense barking. I was very skeptical about buying it as the price was over $10 but I was tired of him barking just to hear himself bark. The first time I sprayed I did not know what to expect. This stuff is AWESOME!! It doesn't hurt your animal at ALL I think it's the sound of the gas coming out forcefully that really causes my dog to jump and STOP doing whatever it is I'm telling him to stop. He has been cured with only 2 uses of this little miracle worker of jumping up on people when they come in (he's a Golden Retriever and LOVES everyone he meets!). Now allI have to do when I want him to stop doing something (barking for instance), is show him the orange can and he stops right away. The smell is extremely mild and pleasant you can hardly smell a thing. I highly recommend this. Amazing product.

Reason for 3 star vs 5 star is the size is misleading. I got this for my puppy since my husband is a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. We have a boxer puppy and at 14 weeks and 25 pounds this just barely fit her. Update 2 weeks later and she is now 30 pounds and I can no longer get it to tie around her neck. Just for comparison my puppy currently wears a small in the Kong harness and Top Paw collar but she is getting moved to the medium next week. This bandanna would be good for small dogs or any dog that you can fit a small collar, if your dog wears any size bigger this will not fit.
