We've got a labradoodle who is very difficult to groom. If you look at him funny his hair mats. We've had mixed results with other grooming brushes, most of which aren't strong enough to tackle his tough coat. Master Grooming Tools Slicker Brush is a definite cut above the other slicker brushes we've tried. It's double sided, but we found only one of the sides really effective in getting through his tough coat. But it actually does work for most of the grooming tasks. We also picked up a de-matting tool: Master Grooming Tools Steel 9-Blades Dematting Ergonomic Pet Comb with Rubber Handle which works quite well in conjunction with this slicker.

I would prefer to have one large brush head, instead of two small ones side by side, so there are no missed spots. One side has the usual bent slicker brush pins, which do a pretty good job, and the other side has straight, angled pins which don't seem to work for detangling and brushing very well. I really don't know what they are supposed to be used for. This is the first brush I bought of this type.

This is my second time buying this slicker I love it, unfortunately I bent the prongs on my last one. My dog does not seem to mind this brush.
