this is a lightweight coat and the nylon outer shell is like a windbreaker weight. If this was for treking through the woods or day-long use, I'd say get something else. I use it for a Newfie with lots of hair that I'd rather not have to dry off everytime she comes in out of the rain. Works well for quick trips outside and is a great price.

The first one I ordered, a medium, based on the size chart, was way too small. Vendor kindly and quickly sent a size larger, which seemed a little too big and the velcro seemed to come off easily, finding me running a round a snow filled back yard in search of the coat. Don't know that I will use it again this winter.

This is an adorable and functional coat for our older Mini Schnauzer. She has arthritis and the coat keeps here warm on cold, damp days. The dark blue is a wonderful color because it does not show the dirt. The design is easy to put on and take off. This is a much better coat than most of the ones that I have seen at the local pet stores. When the time comes for replacement, I will purchase the same coat again.

Honest reviews on Casual Canine Barn Pet Coat - Navy Blue

This is a little coat that might work for cool or rainy weather but I was a little disappointed that it didn't cover my dog's chest. When the weather is really cold, I don't think it is adequate because it exposes so much chest/abdomen.

I really like this coat and have one for each of my three dogs. However, the extra large is sized kind of funny. I bought the extra large for my 70lb Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix. She is long and lean. The length is great and the neck area almost fits perfectly, but the middle strap is too loose. Nevertheless, the jacket does stay on, I just really need to add some extra velcro.

Works really well on rainy days, colder Falls days and Winter days. Bought this for a great price last year and have just really started using it since moving to Alaska. I would recommend this if you're looking for something durable (have washed a few times with no issues), warm and affordable.

The Arm's Reach Duplex Bunk Bed is a great bed! We have two dogs, a five year old 30 pound Beagle and a ten year old 45 pound Terrier Mix. Our Beagle loves to cuddle up with us and sometimes when she gets up on our bed she loves to hide under the blankets. Our Terrier has been sharing our bed since he was a puppy and it got to the point where he has become selfish with sharing the bed and actually kicks us if we are taking up his space. We were looking for a bed or beds that we could make the dogs comfortable and also marry their two personalities in one. While doing some research on how to keep your dogs off your bed, we decided to look into new bedding ideas. We came across the Arms Reach Duplex Bunk Bed which was the perfect idea but were skeptical that the dogs would even bother getting in the bed. To our surprise they both immediately hopped on the bed. Our Beagle (Betty) immediately snuggled up inside the bottom bed and our Terrier (Elroy) jumped on top. There's sometimes even a "struggle" for the top bunk. We love it when they share the top together, or when they switch bunks... it's really sweet!

This bed was very easy to put together, durable and easy to vacuum and clean. I can also share a great customer service experience we had with Arm's Reach, thanks to Theresa Soto. We wrote to Arm's Reach thinking their was a part missing because the bottom bunk was sinking to the floor when Betty would lay in it. The truth was that after being tested, the bottom bunk was specifically designed to sink to serve as comfort for the dog. After hearing that Betty had recently undergone spinal surgery and that we weren't comfortable with less support on the bottom, Teresa gave it little thought and immediately offered to send us a bar to snap on to the bottom of the frame and an extra base board for additional support. We received the extra pieces, and are extremely satisfied with the results.

Get this bed if you are looking to pamper your dog(s). This bed design is at a great height too. You pull it up to your own bed, this way your dogs are at "arm's reach" wink wink.

This is a wonderful dog bed! It is very durable and of excellent quality. I purchased this bed because I was looking for a way to wean our dog out of our bed. Our dog slept in our bed since he was a puppy and was used to sleeping close to us. As he got bigger, it was clear that we needed our bed back, and he needed his own space. The height of this bunk bed is perfect because it places him up to the same level as our bed and it gives him the sense that he is still sleeping with us. It has enough space to allow him to move around as he sleeps. Although it is a bunk bed and can be occupied by two dogs, it is perfect for him during the day while we are awake; He takes his naps and rests there intermittently. If you are looking for a way to get your dog or furry animal out of your bed so you can get a good nights sleep, without fur in the bed, I would highly recommend this Pet Bunk Bed. I am very pleased with this product.

Best Deals for Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Duplex Pet Bunk Bed

I purchased the medium bed in brown. I was looking for an elevated bed so she would stop trying to steal our office chairs. She likes to sit up close to us while we work.

General Info:

I have one 25 pound dog and I could fit two of her on each level. However the bed is thin but long I can fit two of her because her long-way fits the bed's short-way. If your dog were any bigger it would have to lay the long way and you could only fit one per level. I would recommend considering the large bed if your dog is 40 pounds or larger.

The Good:

-Surprisingly sturdy

-Does exactly what I needed

The Bad:

-The bed does not include the leopard print bolster you see in the pictures. That is sold separately for approximately $45.

-The synthetic canvas material used on the sides is also used to cover the mattresses. This material is not soft, comfortable, or in any way cozy. The first thing I did was put a blanket down for her. The aforementioned $45 bolster only covers the edges, leaving the uncomfortable mattress exposed.

-See that instruction manual in your hands? The one that came with the bed? Yeah, that one. OK throw it out. It shows a drawing of the completed bed, and each part of the completed bed is lettered. Then it says take Part B and attach it to Part E. OK. Hrm. See I can't tell which part is Part E and which one is Part B because the parts themselves aren't labeled and the picture only shows the whole thing assembled. Once you have the bed totally assembled you will then know which part is A and which is E. Won't that be edifying. So just toss it and you'll figure it out yourself. The screws strip really easily so make sure you have all the pieces threaded through the canvas before you screw it together.

-You will need a bit of strength to stretch the canvas over everything. I used pliers for a better grip.

-You will think you can assemble the bed in about 3 minutes but it took me an hour because of the useless instructions, having to unscrew everything that should have been threaded through the canvas first, and trying to pull the plastic canvas into submission.

-There are several clips, loops, and Velcro patches that go with optional accessories. I don't think they look nice on the bed because I like everything to be clean and have a purpose.

-It looks a little like a kiddie play-pen but I am secure with myself so I don't mind. At least I don't have a doggie stroller. Pet Gear Special Edition Pet Stroller for cats and dogs up to 45-pounds, Sage

-Double check the length measurement before you buy. It is probably longer than you think it is.

The Verdict:

I know those seem like a lot of cons for a 4 star review, but I am happy with the bed. I mostly wish the mattress had been made of a more comfortable material. Thanks and I hope you enjoy your bed!

Honest reviews on Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Duplex Pet Bunk Bed

I purchased the medium gray co-sleeper/bunk bed from Home Goods with the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Pet Bunk Bed Plush Liner, Medium, Cocoa and Black Leopard only because it was on sale and because it was already partially assembled. As soon as I brought it in the door, two of my four cats jumped on the top bunk. After I placed it where I wanted it, two cats moved into the lower bunk and the other two cats (sometimes just one cat) rested on top. Note that my cats never rested that close together for more than a few minutes before so this was a surprise to me.

Both levels have a very soft nylon covered pad that the cats like. In addition, the top liner (which is sold separately) is nylon but has a nice soft rim where my cats can rest their head or paws if they want. What I did was put a small rug inside the lower unit and a heating pad on the upper unit to make it even softer and more inviting. However, before I did that, my cats still gravitated to this bunk bed.

Although I didn't have to assemble the unit (assembly looks a bit confusing from the instructions provided), I did have to remove the two lower side bars because Home Goods did not insert the side bars into the side sleeves as they were supposed to. It was easy to disassemble the side bars and feed them through the nylon side sleeve but it was very difficult to snap one of the legs back in place because the nylon was so taut after installing the other side leg. I actually had to bend the plastic on the leg hook so I could hook it onto the existing frame. I'm so glad the plastic was malleable and did not break.

What I love about this product is:

My cats love this more than any other sleeper, cat condo, or bed I've purchased for them in the past. I have 5 elaborate cat condos, one cat playpen, and over 18 plush pet beds throughout my condo, yet I've never seen them gravitate toward any one piece of furniture as much as this for sleeping and resting.

There are three mesh doors on the bottom bunk that can be unzipped for easy access.

The unit is very light so it's easy to move around.

I suspect the nylon is easy to clean.

The only thing I don't like is that the bed area of both bunks is nylon and not furry but I suppose that is a trade-off for an easy-to-clean surface. If I were a cat, which I'm not, I'd want a furry soft surface to bury my body in. However, my cats don't seem to mind one bit and I can always add a soft blanket to provide that cottony soft feel.

I highly recommend this from my four cats point of view. If I had to assemble the unit fully myself, I might have taken off one star based on the assembly instructions that came with the product. However, since I didn't have to assemble this, I consider this a 5-star pet bunk bed. Arm's Reach also makes a Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Portable Pet Bunk Bed, Medium, Cocoa that folds and is portable, but this particular unit requires assembly, is not portable and does not fold.

One other thing to note is that this co-sleeper was really designed to get your pet off the bed and into their own bed when placed right next to your bed. I did not purchase this for that reason as I want my pets in bed with me. I also located this away from my bed. However, since I purchased this, two of my four cats stay in the co-sleeper all night now instead of coming to bed with me. That my cats choose this co-sleeper over my bed is disappointing to me, of course.

Our 1-year old 55-lb lab mix is a needy little thing and doesn't like to be out of sight of us when we are in the house. We had her bed on the floor beside us and she was always jumping up on our bed whenever one of us was missing or if she got scared. She was constantly sitting up in her bed to see if we were there when she should have been sleeping. As she a med-large dog, the last thing hubs and I wanted was to be jammed in our king-size bed by our pooch. I looked at elevated beds that were very elegant but they still wouldn't let her see us in our bed. Since we got the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper (Gray-large with matching covering), our dog rarely gets on the bed. Mission accomplished.

What I like about this product:

Dog is much more comfortable being at bed height and seems to sleep so much better. We pull it close to one side of the bed when it is bedtime and slide it into a corner when we all get up. If she gets exercised about some noise she hears or is a bit restless, all I have to do is reach out and give her a reassuring pet to calm her down.

If she is ill during the night or has to go out, all she has to do is lean over and poke her nose at us--we no longer have to deal with her jumping up on the bed and stepping all over us to get our attention.

Since we only have one dog, we don't use the bottom bunk. We use it to put away some of her toys and her blanket when not in use. It's plenty big enough to store a bunch of your shoes if you need the space. It is also good for doggie sleepovers provided the dog in question is smaller.

The bed looks so much better than a bed on the floor.

It's easy to vacuum up the bed.

Set up was fairly easy once you broke the code on the instructions.

What I don't like:

The thin mattress that comes with the bed may be easy to clean but it is noisy and not a comfortable fabric to lie on. I went to Pet Smart and bought a medium oblong orthopedic bed and it fit very nicely into the large-size co-sleeper. Think the dog now has a better bed than we do.

Dogs jumping down from this bed onto a hardwood floor will quickly scratch the floor and may pull a muscle if they lose their footing on the floor. Buy a throw rug with a non-skid bottom to let your dog jump down onto that.

The instructions could be better written as some people, like me, will follow the instructions only to find out we have to disassemble the bed because there is a step missing. Just remember to put the bottom legs and bottom support bars through the bottom fabric first and then start assembling the bed up from there.

Finally, while the top bunk works great for my dog, I would have liked the bottom section to be roomier to give her the option of chilling out in a "cave". The bottom is much too small for my dog to be comfortable.

I have a 14 year old German Shepard who hasn't jumped on furniture for over 2 years due to arthritis. I've had her on the Glucosamine you get from the veterinarian and some other expensive brands..never really noticed much of a difference. She's been taking these for about 2 months and about 3 weeks ago she started to jump on the sofa in the morning so she can look out the window and hear the birds. It makes me so happy to see her do something she hasn't been able to do in so long. I will not switch to another brand..these are the absolute best!!!!!

Overall I would have to say this door is a well thought out design. That being said, I would like to meet the boob (engineer) that designed the thru-wall mounting screws!First off the threaded inserts that accept the thru-wall screws are only press fit into the frame. Mechanically, this is poor design, the inserts are only being held in by friction from a relatively thin piece of aluminum. It would be a much better design if each side of these pieces had a shoulder on each side of them. Two popped out during installation and had to be JB Welded back into place! The other brain-fart comes in the form of the actual screws. They are designed to be used on walls of different thicknesses so in order to fit it to your wall you may need to cut them to length, fine. The problem is the screw heads thread onto the rods, when tightening the screws the area with the least resistance is the screw heads. The heads actually spin instead of the stud spinning and threading into the other side, eventually the stud inteferes with the head causing your screwdriver to cam-out! VERY FRUSTRATING!!! This problem also can be easily solve if the company provided a thread locking compound. I was out of loktite so JB Weld to the rescue again. These problems, although minor, added a lot of unexpected time to the install. Please note, I am NOT bashing this product, I actually would recommend it. The design of the flaps is far superior to the standard Johnson type flap we had. I think the door will serve us well for many years to come, I just wish they would correct these minor flaws. If you do buy it make sure you've got some thread locking compound and an adhesive suitable for those inserts should the come off, good luck!

I have used dog doors for many years, and have always installed them myself. This is the fifth different brand/style of dog door that I have used. It is not the easiest to install, nor the most difficult. I will say that it would be easier to install the door with a helper. I did it alone. Lining up the long screws proved to be quite a challenge, but do-able. You should be somewhat handy, or get the help of a freind that is.

Once the door is installed it is truly the best. Mine has been in use for about a year now. Because of the location of my door I have always had problems with the wind blowing it open. No more. This door seals and seals well. Strong winds do not move it. It also insulates much better than any other door that I have had. 101 degree heat or below freezing, the door does not 'leak'. I no longer feel a large temperature difference near the dog door. In the past I have used single piece flaps and two part flaps, flaps with magnets, flaps with 'brushes'. None have sealed or held up as well as this door.

Other doors usually have screws holding the flaps in place. Over time the movement of the flaps causes the screws to loosen or fall out. The unique hinge system on the Endura door eliminates this problem. So far, the flaps are not showing the wear that I have seen in other doors: no warping, no cracking, no stiffening or discoloration.

Both of my dogs are used to dog doors. The double flap Endura did not take much adjustment. I removed some of the magnets for the first couple of days, to reduce the amount of pressure required to open the door. I quickly (day three or four) replaced all the magnets in both flaps and the dogs fly through with no issues.

Finally, I am impressed with the locking cover. I have had a dog open a 'locked' Johnson Pet Door in the past, the metal 'locking' cover just bent and popped out of the frame. Neither of my dogs have been able to come through the Endura when I put the cover on.

I have recommended the product to freinds, and will continue to do so.

The door clearly gets five stars for being the best ever door once installed. If I were to rate only the installation, it would get a three. Installation of this door is average difficulty compared to others that I have done. I can't let installation influence my overall rating, though, as I don't think you can find a better door for durability, insulation and security.

Best Deals for Endura Flap Dog Door for Doors

We have large dogs along with cats. We do not want the cats outside. How do you accomplish this?

I was resigned to complicated electronic solutions, which would require our dogs to each wear collars. We'd also have to maintain batteries in collars and in the electronic door system. And they are not foolproof, if you read the reviews. Some of these electronic dog doors cost over a thousand dollars! Yikes.

I resisted buying these things, and came across this dog door. Sounded great. The larger sizes with double flaps can be costly, but the medium to small size was more reasonable. In addition, the description promised a high-quality construction with solid materials. I've had other dog and cat doors, and this alone would be worth it; just tired of crappy plastic stuff.

This is a great door. Installation was a breeze. And the doors themselves are very solid. I would call them commercial grade. I was very pleased when I pulled them out of the box and saw how substantial they were. Any plastic is not structural.

We bought the double flap. This means instead of one frame with a flap and one frame without a flap, you get two frames with flaps, essentially duplicates except one side accepts the attachment screws, and should be used on the outside (you don't want a thief to be able to pry off the screw hole covers and expose the heads of the phillips screws allowing removal).

The door works great. The flap mechanism is substantial and effective. They secure with a firm "click" of the magnets. I feel like my door is still secure and weatherproof, even with these things on. And the appearance is of quality, not some cheap plastic.

About going in and out of the door: If your dogs are the least bit reticent, it will take some training. The magnetic closure is secure and it takes a significant push to free the flap. Twice that with double flaps. But with diligent training I think any dog will take to the door. Lots of treats and help until they go in and out without a second thought.

About cats: A big deterrent for buying those electronic doors, in addition to the collars and batteries and expense and maintenance, was the reviews that said smart cats still find a way to get out! Either they hang out at the door until the dogs go through and take advantage of the opportunity, or they learn to signal the dogs to open the door for them! Yikes again. Here I could have purchased an expensive plastic electronic assembly and found out it still let the cats out. Thank you reviewers for pointing this out.

Cats will not get out this door, unless they are tigers. It's just too hard to push through; especially the double flap. Indeed, the box or instructions state 'not for cats'. (Keep in mind we are using the large size 10 with double flaps. Your experience might vary for smaller doors with single flaps and single-minded, strong cats.)

Anyhow, our cat hasn't even attempted to get out. I am very pleased with this door and recommend it highly. Even without cats I would get this door. It sort of puts the others to shame.

Note: A reviewer said they had problems aligning the screws. Well, I've had to align screws hundreds of times, in more difficult scenarios; this one just wasn't a big deal. Put the door on a flat surface, like a workbench (not strung between two saw horses, which is how you cut the hole). Try using a flashlight, shining a light into the hole, adjusting so the screw hole appears lined up, and slide the screw in straight. We didn't even have to use the flashlight, just squared the doors more or less equally on the opening and the screws found their holes readily. It was straight forward.

Honest reviews on Endura Flap Dog Door for Doors

This was the best investment in pet doors we have ever made. We've had this door for almost 2 years now and I'm sure it has more than paid for itself in terms of energy savings as well as replacement parts.

The door itself is pretty standard, I do like that it is metal and not plastic as it's easier to clean. The flap is still in great shape and we were going through flaps for the pet safe doors (several versions) about ever 6 mo as our dogs like to charge through the door. I was concerned about the wind, this was by far our biggest complaint in other brands, we get 60+ mph wind gusts regularly and it would always come open, not this one. Also we have not had a single mouse in the house since purchasing this door, which leads me to believe they were getting in through the dog door.

Instalation was not an issue for us, we had to re-cut the hole we had existing in our metal insulated door and it was all pretty easy, took about 2 hrs to get it re-cut and fully installed. It's taller and more narrow that most other doors so we specifically had to make sure this door would be larger than our existing hole. I think the only down side we've had is that my 2 year old (and 4 year old) can easily fit through the large size and often head outside to play without telling me first. All in all I would very much recomend this product.

This is the best dog door I could find. We've had ours for almost 2 years and it works great. It was easy to install. We have 3 large doogs who use this door a lot in all weather conditions and it has held up very well...really no significant signs of wear or indicators that it would fail to function or need any parts replaced. The flap is much thicker than most other doors I've seen and it withstands the weather well. Be sure to measure accurately. The first door we ordered was too big (my fault), but the vendor shipped the right one quickly and issued a refund when they recieved the first one no problem. The Endura flap door costs a bit more than most others, but it is a great product.

Pugs are notoriously fast eaters. My youngest pug has choked on his food twice because a) he eats so fast and b) he doesn't bother to chew. This bowl doesn't solve the chewing issue, but it has certainly slowed him down.

I only gave 4 stars because I think the bowl with the knobs would be better suited for pugs. It's a little too hard for him to get to his food due to the dividers. I think this bowl works better for dogs with actual snouts.

My pug would probably give it 1 star. He is not too happy with this bowl. Every time I set it down in front of him, he looks at me like, "Seriously? We're still doing this?" But at least there's no more worries about him choking! (Until he figures out how to turn it over)

I have 4 beagles and these bowls have really helped with them not gobbling thier food down, especailly when they are all together, afraid that one will get the others. It holds about 1 cup on the med size bowl even though I only give them 1/2 cup twice a day.

Honest reviews on JW Pet SkidStop Slow Feed Pet Bowl

This bowl is sturdy with grippy feet. It does slow down my dog but it is best used sitting in the middle of the floor without anything he can push it against. Otherwise, once he can push the bowl against the wall or other object, he can really dig in and resume his speed eating. I am still not totally satisfied but the bowl is better than a regular one. This jumbo size is recommended for my Rottweiler. The large size is way too small.

We have 3 boxers that would eat their food very fast and then throw it all back up. These bowls have solved that problem, 100%. We've had the bowls for about a month now, 2 feedings/day and no issues whatsoever. The 'skid stop' is a joke, though... they get pushed all over the place.

This also works for me very well, but I had to use it for a while to get the hang of it. It's important to hold it at a 90 degree angle to the coat, brush in the direction that the fur is growing, apply a little bit of pressure and use the comb facing in the right direction. Some of our cats hate the wire brush I use, especially the one with diabetes who has tender skin, and it does seem to irritate all of them after a bit of use. The wire brush also makes noise as it passes over their fur which some of them don't like. They all seem to like this comb, it's silent, doesn't hurt, and does pull out a lot of big clumps of undercoat, leaving all five of our cats looking and feeling better than they ever have before. In fact, they like it! It naturally gets more fur out of the ones with thick undercoats, but I noticed it pulling fur out of the undercoats of the ones with thinner coats who usually don't have a lot of hair that comes out on a brush.

This comb is very small and it is a bit of a chore to get a whole cat done in one sitting. I would recommend using a bigger brush first to get out as much loose fur as possible then finish grooming with this. I have not tried the FURminator mentioned, but would still recommend having this around, too. It doesn't need batteries or electricity, it's cheap, and it's especially handy on areas harder to reach with a bigger brush or tool, ie around the haunches and tail area which seem to accumulate a lot of fur.

Other drawbacks are that it works on some parts of their bodies better than others (the sides were hard to get anything out of, as opposed to their backs) and only being able to use it in one direction can get tricky, because these guys like to turn around in circles when I comb them, so I have to do some maneuvering to stay in the right position. Nice alternative to petting in front of the tv, anyway. :)

I got mine at Walgreens.

i got this for my cat (ocicat breed). he's a short-haired cat that doesn't generally need much grooming except when the season changes. shedender worked just like the commericals. one brush and fur goes flying everywhere. it does remove hair however the teeth of the comb are not deep so the removed hair goes either flying or stays on top of the fur towards the back. as u can see in the picture the tool is small. if you have the patience and extra time (and if your pet has the patience too!) u can think about saving some money with this tool. if you want something more efficient, invest some extra money and go for the furminator instead. i bought both and compared them but i'm keeping my furminator despite the much higher price.

I dont know what the other two guys issue was with this item but I had no problem at all. I have a pug and the little guy sheds like there is no tomorrow. I bought this thing at my local mall for 9.99 and tried it out today. It was awsome, the amount of fur that came off of him was nuts, I had a pile of hair that was the size of my pug. He loved it and seemed to want more even after I stoped. I am going to assume that the other two bad reviews here are pure user error, it has to be. This item works great and I would recomend it to anyone that has a pet with a sheding problem.

Honest reviews on As Seen On Tv Shed Ender

I tried the tool and it is junk. The way the handle holds the blade, you can't control the angle and it is very difficult to use. The caps covering the screws both fell off and the handle feels hard and cheap. I tried a friend's furminator and it worked 10 times better.

What a great grooming tool! I bought it because I have three long-haired cats and always seem to be vacumming up hair. The Shed Ender got down to the undercoat, just like it claimed. I was absolutely amazed at how much fur I pulled out of their coats! I had brushed them with a regular brush before I started, and gotten very little hair off. The Shed Ender removed piles and piles of hair in fact, the pile of hair was almost as big as my cat! It took a little practice to get the hang of how to use it, but I was very impressed with the results. It takes some time to go through the animal's whole coat, but it's toally worth it!

Other reviewers said they liked the Furminator better, but it costs quite a bit more. I went to a local pet store to check out the prices of the Furminator, and the least expensive one (the smallest) was $34.95 (versus the same size Shed Ender at $9.99!). I say, try the Shed Ender first you'll love it!

The PET GEAR OCTAGON PET PEN is a snap to set up. It's basically one piece actually two if you count the zip on cover that folds up and pops open for an easy to use den for your cat or dog, while on the road.

I just got a Shiba Inu puppy in October and I bought the PENTAGON PEN to use in my office because I wanted a secure place for her while I'm working. I'm one of the lucky folks who can bring their pets to work, so that's what I use it for.

My puppy has a regular metal crate at home for potty training and sleeping in, so this is just her home-away-from-home den, which she naps in, plays in, and eats lunch and has her snacks in.

It's been pretty durable so far, and like I say it's easy to set-up: just unfold and the PENTAGON PEN will pop open. It has a floor covering, so you don't have to worry about putting something down on the floor before using it, which makes it great for outdoors or inside on carpet. There's a zippered door that can be closed or opened for easy access and the mesh windows all around give your pet a room with a view, but also comfort and security.

I wouldn't recommend the PET GEAR OCTAGON PET PEN for use with potty training, however. The inside is too large and you can't section areas off, which means your pup can just go to the other side to do his/her business, but it isn't so large that it would qualify as an exercise pen. That's why I say that this is more of a temporary use type of thing rather than something that your pet could use long term. If you are shopping around and looking at the various dens/kennels that are available, particularly if you're shopping for the arrival of your new puppy, I would suggest getting Midwest Life Stages Double-Door Folding Metal Dog Crate, 36 Inches by 24 Inches by 27 Inches. That crate is metal and can be divided and expanded to fit your puppy when he/she gets older.

The PET GEAR OCTAGON PET PEN is pretty light-weight, even when fully opened up, so you can move it around easily.

I deducted one-star because on the inside of pen, there are two vinyl tabs that are reinforcements for the external pocket. This is simply irresistible to a dog or puppy and I've caught my Shiba eagerly chewing on them. The tabs aren't sewn flush against the inside of the pen and so they have edges that are too easily grabbed by a dog's teeth to play tug with. I've sprayed bitter apple on them to stop the chewing, but I'm sure in time this will prove to be the weakest link in this pen. I would have preferred no external pocket and no tabs because everything else inside the crate/pen is pretty secure, i.e. all seams are covered, etc.

Anyway, it's great for temporary use as in office or travel but I don't think this will hold up to stand alone use unless you already have a well-behaved, toilet-trained pooch, who doesn't jump around too much.

We bought this pen for our 5 month old Wheaten Terrier. The first few times she was fine but after about a week or so she figured out that she could tip it over and escape relatively easily by jumping up on one side. She's a little too big to put the roof on so for now we are going to save it for our next puppy. Very durable pen and great construction, I would recommend for smaller breads or go with the bigger pen.

This Pet Pen is perfect for my Yorkie Puppy. She instantly went into it without coaxing once I put her bed in it. She goes in and out and feels very secure in it. I use it also for when I leave the house knowing that she is safe and secure. The item is quite sturdy and I have used it outside in the wind and I was expecting it to lift but it stayed in place. The only thing that was different than depicted in the pictures is that the zip top is only partially canvas and the rest is mesh. In the picture it looks like the top is mostly canvas providing more shade.

Honest reviews on Pet Gear Octagon Pet Pen with Removable Top for Cats and Dogs

The pen is not made by Pet Gear, as described. It is a cheaply made, inferior product. The photo has been changed, since I ordered, to reflect the pen you will receive, which is not Pet Gear. Don't be fooled by the "savings" because the original price of this pen cannot be as indicated. Extremely disappointed. Returned pen, and will purchase a Pet Gear, or another quality brand, at pet store chain, where I know what I'll be getting.

We were traveling cross country and knew we'd need something like this. We got well ahead of time and left it sit around our apartment for a while. The cats liked and would often go sit around in it for no reason at all. While we were traveling it turned out we didn't it as we discovered the hotel chain we were staying at had base boards running around the beds, so we didn't have to worry about the kitties hiding under the bed and refusing to come out. However we set this up anyway, and left it open, and the cats stayed in it anyway if they weren't on the bed with us because it was a familiar zone in a strange room.

One cat is fairly large, 12 lbs (not a fat 12 lbs, he's not overweight, just large enough to weight 12 lbs) and the other cat is a small 6.5 7 lbs. I found this was large enough for the both of them even if they wanted to sit away from each other and also have room for a small dish of food and water and small small litter box. You're not supposed to keep all those things so close together, but our vet said it would be fine for the short period of time of overnights for a few days. And like I said, it turned out we didn't need to keep them closed in it, so left the food and litter box out of it and away from each other.

too small, and dimensions were not clear on the description... I have seen a large one, but there must be a reason why they are no longer available

We have two small dogs (8 lbs and 11 lbs) so I ordered the small pet domes. I did measure prior to ordering to make sure I did not need the medium. However, while the crates are plenty long enough they could definitely be a few inches taller in proportion to the length. No reflection on the crates themselves though, love the way they collapse into small little carrying cases! Shipping was prompt and crates arrived earlier than expected.

This is the first product that my puppy curiously got into. He was fine to enter and exit smoothly unlike his crate. We bought the dome for summer handouts and and short getaways when he needs to be safe and squared away but still in the mix. The compact and convertible design is brilliant, practical and easy to travel with.
