These patties r super thinand small. Not even a mouth full for pit bulls. I will not be getting them again. Small dogs will like them but they are crumbleing so i would say dont feed it to them in your bed.

I have had this pet house for four-and-a-half years and it is still going strong. It is great for relatively small dogs, I'd say up to 15-20 lbs. I put a square dog bed with bolster sides on top to make it comfy, and my two chihuahuas, 7 lbs and 4 lbs, are usually up there together enjoying each other's company. There's plenty of room for both. They can both easily climb the steps and get into the bed.

The house is next to the main front window in my house, and my dogs use the top deck as a lookout perch. It is absolutely their favorite place -if I'm looking for them in the house that's the first place I check. They watch the bikers, dog walkers, cats, etc. go by and bark at them. Great entertainment for them (even if a little loud for me.) Neither one of them likes to stay in the little room underneath (although sometimes the littlest one hides in it when she knows she's been bad), but it is perfect for storing dog toys. Just toss them through the large door and voila, everything is picked up. My dogs know where their toys are and readily go into the little room to get them.

The house was easy to assemble and it is very sturdy. It's also lightweight, so it's easy to move around if necessary. The stairs are worn now (mainly the top two), but that's to be expected after 4+ years of constant use, and the appearance of the steps isn't really objectionable. The wear merely represents how much use the steps get.

I would absolutely recommend this pet house to a friend. It was a tad expensive, but it has proved to be the best purchase I've ever made for my small dogs.

I bought this house 3 years ago. For the first two years of use, it was on my covered porch and exposed to alot of the elements and held up very well. (I stuffed it with clean straw for winter use.) Easy to assemble, though it does take about 30 mintues. It is also easy to keep clean. I would buy another in a flash but don't have the room!

My four cats love this house! For a while only my outside cat used it. It took him a week or two to get used to it, but then it became his favorite outside spot. Now that he is happy living inside, he shares the house with his two brothers and sister. Quite often there is one large cat sleeping on the bottom level, while one or two are on the balcony doing "guard duty" at the window! Every one who sees the house comments on the attractive and fun design, esp. the balcony. This house is worth the price!

I bought this house for our old cat who (because of incontinence) has been moved outside. The wood on this is fairly light and there are plenty of gaps and small openings to let a breezy, cold draft in. I quickly realized that this house needed insulation. I thought of some solutions for a while, then stared down at the packaging. There are large pieces of Styrofoam which make great insulation. I traced a rough template of the four sides and top and bottom, scored it with a knife, then hot-glued it right on the interior. I then made little flaps on the entrance out of a very thin, old outdoor chair cushion. If you're going to insulate the house like I did, make sure you assemble the four sides and drop the bottom in first. My mistake was that I glued the Styrofoam on the four sides, then tried to drop the bottom in, but it wouldn't fit (I got creative and found a solution). In the end my cat loved it! He stayed in all night and didn't want to come out in the morning. Very cozy. The added bonus was that I picked this up at PetSmart on closeout for $49.

I purchased this house for my indoor/outdoor cat for $80 from Petsmart. I've been searching the internet for weeks for an affordable,quality cat house (to no avail). This was very easy to put together, took me about 15 minutes, although I omitted the lattice and steps (which seem useless for cats) and modified the front entrance. I took both sides of the steps and cut them to fit the front, gluing them one on top of the other across the bottom part of the entrance. Since this will be used during the winter, I wanted a smaller opening and something more protective from snow and rain. My 15 lb. cat eases in and out of it without any problem with the smaller opening.

And yes, I did have to caulk it, it would have most definitely leaked, there were gaps between the wood. I caulked the top and sides, sealing every single seam. I also gave it a coating of waterproof stain (additional supplies cost $15). The wood is thin and it's aromatic but not overwhelming. My cat seems to like it, taking to it quickly and it will keep him dry and warm, serving its purpose. Worth the price even on sale? Probably not, but with the modifications I made, I think it will work fine for my cats needs.

Our outdoor cat loves this product. Placed a heated bed in it. The Petsafe Wellness Heated Bed (mini) is a perfect fit. This product is not weatherproof, and should be used on a covered porch. The top is wood slats with very small gaps, and water would leak right thru to the interior. I put the cat's food on top, but not the water, as a spill would go right to his bed inside. Top is only removable if you do not use the screws and attach the top.

This is my fourth or fifth Outward Hound product I'm a huge fan of the brand and have always had great experiences with their products. Right up front, I want to urge readers to take the negative reviews of this product into consideration they are all fair (not the usual "this product suxxx") and should weigh equally as you decide on this product. I have not had any of the problems they mentioned (everything has held up nicely during use), but it does seem that quality control on this product was a little less than the usual stellar level I have come to expect from O.H. I would like to thank Boycott Boring and Kyjen for sending me a sample of this product to review they did so on the understanding that I would provide my HONEST feedback.

INTRO

Ok, so I definitely got some raised eyebrows from friends when I told them about the "doggy tent". I grew up with our family dogs being outdoor dogs, and though we provided them with a VERY nice wooden dog house, the idea of a special tent/shade just for them on family camping trips would have given my dad a laughter-induced heart attack! Still, this thing is pretty darn cool when set up, and serves an important purpose.

SET-UP

Mounting this shelter was incredibly easy it's about the same size as a children's play tent, and if you have set up a traditional tent before, you'll have no problems. Our first experiment was in the living room our first dog is a rescue and we wanted to introduce it in a comfortable environment. If you even SUSPECT that your dog might be weirded out by this product, I would highly suggest doing so. It took 20 minutes and plenty of treats, but she finally laid down and stayed in it. Our new pup (13 weeks old) of course loved how new and exciting it was! Moving it outside, each corner has holes for standard tent pegs, so now worries about this thing flying away with your pup in it!

MATERIALS AND QUALITY

Well, as with all Outward Hound products, the quality of fabric is very good. The ground sheet will stand up to your dogs claws, and is waterproof to protect from dew. The sides are not meant for rough and tumble, but match the quality of our family tent. The poles seem to be what everyone is having problems with. As I said at the beginning, I have had no issues after using this shade several times, but many other HAVE had issues. The good news? Replacement poles can be purchased to size from the better tent retailers, and not for crazy prices either. I absolutely agree that this shouldn't be necessary after paying for this product, but I wanted to highlight it as an option. Quality control lost this doggy tent a star, and I really would urge Outward Hound to go back to the drawing board on the poles, or at the very least change suppliers.

FUNCTIONALITY

Now as I said, this thing is a little extravagant. That said, when you're camping on a hot summer's day and your dog is on the ground trying to stay in the shade but getting bitten by passing critters, you'll wish you had something for them. This little shelter offers protection from the sun and heat, and serves to protect them from critters, dirt and yes, even wet ground. The slits in the tent are excellent for passing a rope through as long as you tie the leash higher up on a tree you won't put any undue strain on the slits. Now, this shelter is really only missing one GLARING feature...a way to enclose your dog. Now I know this isn't REALLY a tent, however for dogs that don't stay very well, a mesh closing with a zipper on the front would be so useful! It would take this shelter from being a place of shade to an all-night place of rest! I'm actually considering sewing zippered mesh on the front of the tent myself and seeing how they fare in it. I didn't take a star off because I received this product knowing there wouldn't be this feature, but I thought it worth mentioning.

OVERALL

Despite QC issues, I have had no problems with the shelter. It's super useful, big enough for our two pups to play in (25lbs apiece right now, but lanky) and definitely keeps the sun and critters to a minimum. One star was lost for quality control, and though I recommend this product, I do so with some hesitancy! It will be coming with us on our camping trip next month, but I might be making some modifications first! If decimal stars were allowed, I would rate this at 3.75 stars out of 5.

I purchased this tent for our medium size dog and she absolutely loved it! The tent material was nice and thick and we were sure we found the answer to bringing our dog camping with us without spending over $100 for a dog tent. The company was very nice when we contacted them because after several usages the poles snapped. Also the tent is starting to come apart at the seems. I certainly could resew it, however, the company stopped making this product so cannot even get replacement poles :( They told me that they had quality issues and have stopped making this product. All they can do is give you an equivelant product pricewise. Since they do not have any other dog tents, this is very frustrating.

First of all, you must realize that this is not a pop up tent, like I had originally thought it was. You have to put all of the poles into flimsy material , and while you do that, you have to be very careful not to break the poles. One of the poles bent and broke upon putting it together, which made the whole tent unusable. It would also be very time consuming to have to put this together and take it all down every time you needed to take it with you in the car. The whole purpose of this tent was to give our dogs shade during training or different outdoor trial events. This would not work with this tent, since it was not a pop up and way too flimsy.

The Kyjen dog tent is great. It is easy to set up and has great features like zipper closures and screen sides when you want to let air through for your dog. When you're done, it packs down to a really small size, making it easy to store. It's really cool. We will be taking it on outings so our dogs can just kick back in comfort.

The size they give is off.

I usually buy Simple Solutions Small Sized for up to 15 pounds and waist size of 9 to 13 inches. They fit super well, but cost more, so I wanted to try the Alfie belly band. When I got them they looked super cute. Nicely made, but I noticed they looked way to small without even trying them on. The measurements that is listed Small, Waist 10.5 12.5 inches (4" Wide) which is only 1/2 inch smaller than simple solutions. Simple solutions allow 2 inches of valcro to overlap and Alfie only allow for an 18th of an in valcro to over lap, which is not enough to hold the wrap together. Since it is a size problem I would have to pay for return shipping even though I ordered the right size according to the measurements they had listed. Anyway buy a bigger size if you were going to order them.

This is just what I expected. Teddy hasn't worn it yet but I expect it will be fine. I have used a belly band-before, and started about 15 minutes at a time until he became accustomed to it. I like that a pad will stay in place in this one. Only 4 stars because it could be a little more attractive. But very macho.

I noticed that 2 different size mediums with different patterns were listed as different dimensions in the description. I went for the one that matched my dogs measurement. I ordered the set of 2 belly bands (camo and giraffe print). The camo is a little bigger than the giraffe print one. It seems to slip off easily. The giraffe print one works great! I ordered a zebra print one hoping that it will be more like the giraffe one.

This are my dog's favorite toy! This purchase was just to upgrade an original purchase. We bought the whole "Hide-a-Squirrel" stump with the squirrels for her for Christmas, and she loves them! She takes the squirrels all around the house with her. They go in her bed, in bed with her humans, and she has never destroyed them like she has every other stuffed toy with squeakers. Any other stuffed toy has become like "road-kill" in a few days, as she chews them until she gets the squeaker out and then pulls the all the stuffing out. These are like her little babies. We just had to upgrade the squirrels because she has started to wear them out from the doggy "slobber" that is always on them from carrying them in her mouth. The actual toy is great! My dogs love it and my house looks like a squirrel massacre! However, the item name needs to be updated because these are not the Large squirrels. They are quite small in fact. I know this is the wrong size because I've already bought the actual large toy, and the squirrels are much bigger! We ordered a set of replacement squirrels at the same time as ordering one of the Hide a Squirrel juniors not realizing the squirrels were a different size. It wasn't a big deal because the replacements were a fun toy size for our little Yorkie-Poo. She was a big fan of the squirrels while they lasted. They are soft, furry, and not overly sqweaky. As has already been stated, the squirrels hold up a lot longer than most of the tough dog toys. Normally, she can shred an indestructable in a day or two but the squirrels took weeks. Well worth the money and a lot of fun to watch.

I have a one-year-old Golden-Retriever-and-Border-Collie mix, and he loves these squirrels. He likes getting them out of the stump, but he loves working on the squeakers in these squirrels. Every once in a while he gets worked up and rips apart a squirrel, hence the need to periodically buy replacements, but they last a decently long time. Many toys with squeekers don't last more than a week (including all those "indestructable" toys).

I give it 3 stars because my Siberian Husky LOVES these in combo with "Kyjen Egg Babies Dog Toy, Original Series, Platypus". It has a pouch you are suppose to put eggs into, but you can stuff these in there as well!

It makes them last far longer, and my dog finds these squirrels much more interesting than an oval egg.

I'll confirm what you are probably expecting. These things last MAYBE 5 minutes otherwise.

They also contain an astonishing amount of stuffing for their size, which means it'll be EVERYWHERE.

In other words, only get these if you get the other toy to stuff them into. Your dog will love you, and they'll last FAR longer. Otherwise, these will last 5 minutes each (15 minutes total), which is also how long it'll take you to clean up the mess.

Our guineas love this hideout. It's easily bendable into a tunnel which they love to run through and hide under. Very sturdy, although they haven't chewed it much, it's good that they have the option of the wood to chew on.

I love the Fiddle Sticks Hideout. It comes flat, and has wire going thru the wood sticks that allows you to bend it either into a wave or the arch as shown. My piggy likes to hide under it with it laying down like a tunnel, or he chews on the ends. We also stand the tunnel up (as shown in the picture) and use it as a wall that my guinea pig jumps over. (It looked waaay to tall to be possible, but piggys jump high!) Pigs can see color, and mine loves this.

This has been a popular toy with our guinea pigs over the years, but I did want to mention that, as with any wood toy or hidey, it's important to watch out for signs of excessive soiling or chew damage. Because products like this come in regular contact with wet bedding, etc., they are breeding grounds for bacteria and mold. Wood splinters can also cause mouth injury or become a choking hazard.

Speaking of wood...I recently followed up with SuperPet after another reviewer asserted that the FiddleSticks toy is made from oak. SuperPet responded that the wood used for this item is heat-treated *pine.* Not sure where that customer got his/her information.

Overall, a decent toy that should be removed/replaced once it has become soiled or damaged. I'd give it a 5-star rating if the materials and labor were Certified-USA (it's made in China, like most pet toys these days).

I bought one of these off amazon and want to buy another. guinea pig loves it. she chews it all the time to keep her teeth trimmed and enjoys hiding underneath it. the metal in the mechanism works fantastically and you can make it flat, like a ramp, so the pig can climb up to a higher level of boxes to hide inside. it can bend into a steep Tee-Pee shape, or into a stair zig zag shape. it's VERY sturdy, almost difficult to bend into the shape you want, but it is sturdy for the animal! makes for a great step-up staircase for my pig.
