Sophie loves a soft ball to chase and chew. She is a bulldog, but does not tear up her toys. To my surprise, she likes chewing the rope as much as the ball and plays tug of war with herself holding the ball with her paws and pulling the rope with her teeth.

Planet Dog 2-1/2-Inch Recycle Ball 3-toys-in-1 Value Pack Review
This set of two balls on a string must be completely indestructible. Our dog has been playing with it for about a week, and she hasn't so much as scratched the surface. She loves to carry it around in her mouth and chew on it. But when she chews it, it doesn't break apart like most toys. But that's not all. They bounce. They float in the pool. They are made from recycled rubber, so they are a safe and fun toy for your dog that will really last a long time.

I ordered this gate to replace a standard pressure mounted, plastic gate we were using to section off the living room from the kitchen. With our old gate, everytime you wanted to go into the kitchen, you either had to step over the plastic gate, or remove it and reinstall it EVERY time....such a pain. I wanted something that could stay installed but still would allow us easy access to the kitchen. This gate does just that, and does it BEAUTIFULLY. I went with this gate over the other walk-thrus since it has the widest opening and my husband is a big guy (6'8). It installed in just a few minutes and seems really sturdy. My toddler loves it because he can see through the bars, and I love it because it looks so much nicer than our old one. My favorite aspect of this gate is that you can leave the "door" of the gate in the open position if you need to, and simply close it to keep the baby out. The latch to open the gate is super easy to work with one hand (as long as you have the gate installed correctly and level). Overall, a fantastic purchase and I will definitely be buying another.
I would pick this one over the Regalo any day! (And it's cheaper!!!)
This 29-1/2-inch-high gate can accommodate openings from 29-1/2 to 35 inches wide so it can be used throughout your house. For versatility, the gate includes one 2-3/4-inch extension.
Be aware that the aforementioned 2-3/4-inch extension is included in the calculation of the 35 inches wide opening, it is not in addition to that as it might appear. So now I have to buy a load of extensions because I was misled about the width the product can support. I am not very happy about this as I specifically bought this product because I thought it would fit as is.
The only things I dislike are:
-The bottom bar: You just have to remember to step over it and being prone to tripping I worry that I'm going to forget one of these days when I am carrying a load of something.
-It says it's "easy-close", but I find you have to exert quite a bit of pressure to get the gate to close. If I push it enough to hit the frame, it will just bounce against it and stay open. It is also quite loud when you do close it and will likely wake a sleeping child who is nearby.
Still it does it's job and I don't think it's worth it to go through the trouble of taking it down and returning it.
With regards to the plastic pieces at the end of the tubes, they are quite easy to remove with a flat head screwdriver. You have to be careful because the extension pieces for the top and bottom are different sizes. Make sure you have the correct sizes and then gently tap them in to secure them.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the quality of the gate (solid metal), it secures very well between walls and the auto-close feature is very nice when you have a little one in your arms. I would certainly recommend this gate to anyone looking for one.

We have 2 baby gates the Regalo Easy Step Walk Thru and the Munchkin Easy Close Metal Gate. I would recommend the later. There is no real problem with the Regalo, the Munchkin is just better. 1. The Munchkin lock is a lift and squeeze function designed to be done with one hand, the Regalo requires that you pull back and lift up which can be done with one hand, but is far easier with two hands (and let's face it if you have toddler you never have 2 free hands!) 2. The Munchkin has an additional 3rd lock feature at the bottom of the gate which also serves to determine which way you want the door to swing (it can also be left up so that the door swings both ways). The Regalo only swings 1 direction and has no additional lock feature. 3. The Munchkin will lock automatically when pulled closed. The Regalo must be manually locked (a 1 handed operation but still 1 addition action each time you go in and out.)I would pick this one over the Regalo any day! (And it's cheaper!!!)

We installed this gate on the second floor near the stairs, but far enough away that it is not actually at the stairs. It seems pretty securely attached to each of the walls and I am confident that my baby won't be able to push it down. The only things I dislike are:

I almost didn't buy this gate because I saw some negative reviews about the top latch not working or how hard it was to remove the plastic pieces for the extension. I have to say, I think it was either user error or Munchkin fixed the problems. The two gates I bought and installed were extremely easy. Initially, when I opened the box, it appeared the gate was defective because the thick metal piece on the end had a large separation between it and the latch. After reading the instructions, it was very clear that I needed to tighten the wall supports until the gap was closed. This ensures the gate is installed properly with the correct amount of compression. As far as the top latch goes, it works very well when installed correctly. With regards to the plastic pieces at the end of the tubes, they are quite easy to remove with a flat head screwdriver. You have to be careful because the extension pieces for the top and bottom are different sizes. Make sure you have the correct sizes and then gently tap them in to secure them.

Adopted a dog and one of the issues I've come across with him is anxiety. He would pant constantly, never really settle down, etc. After a vet visit confirmed he was healthy and nothing was wrong with him I spoke with the vet about putting him on some type of medication. I didn't want to do that unless it was necessary so thought I'd give these a shot, worst case scenario they wouldn't work and I'd be buying my dog happy pills. Luckily for me they work like a charm and I have slowly been easing him off of them.Best Deals for Happy Traveler - 30 - Capsule ( Multi-Pack)
Works for separation anxiety on a mix-breed traumatized rescue dog. I tried it on my pure bred Airedale's for the 4th of July and well, it had absolutely no effect what so ever. But that's Airedales. When I give it to a severely traumatized mix breed rescue dog who has found a forever home with us but panics when left, it works great!Honest reviews on Happy Traveler - 30 - Capsule ( Multi-Pack)

I use this along with a Thundershirt and it seems to do the trick. I tried these two products separately and, for my dog, I find his anxiety level to be better managed using both products during thunderstorms and fireworks.Tuesday, September 16, 2014
Buy K&H Lectro-Kennel Igloo Style Heated Pad Cover
Got a couple of these for the heating pad in a ceder outdoor cat shelter, and the neighborhood cats love them. Especially when it gets below freezing! If the cats love them, they must do the job. I recommend this and all K&H pet products that I've seen so far have been excellent. My dog is pretty good at getting the strap on cover that comes with the heater off and dragging it around the yard. This cover stays in place and is quite a bit nicer than the cover that comes with the heater.

So these treats smell gross, but I've been able to win over shy and even semi feral foster dogs with these treats. All of the dogs LOVE this salmon! I use it as a treat whenever the dogs go into their crates and they will go sit in the crate staring at the salmon in hopes they might get some extra pieces. It's been wonderful to get foster dogs comfortable with crating because it is so high value, but it is not small enough to use for training. We divide each stick into 3-4 pieces and it lasts a while. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to spoil their pups!
So many of the treats available contain way too many ingredients, many of which are questionable.
I like the fact that they are made in the US and contain at least 90% of what they claim to be.
Our dog loves every Plato's treat we've tried.
I do, however, appreciate the fact that the treats are made in the USA as too many treats are made in China; and after the debacle with melamine killing our pets I buy nothing for any of my dogs that is not made here.
These treats have not only worked with her, but with her fellow friends. I constantly refer folks to get this type of treat, when they are looking for a good training treat. And all my friends who have purchased this for their dogs are happy with their purchase.
The larger 24 oz jar is the best because they last longer and the lid prevents them from air exposure which otherwise makese these treats hard.

The filet mignon of doggy treats. Healthy, wholesome, USA made. My dogs go nutso for them!Honest reviews on Plato Pet Treats, 24-Ounce
Breaking or cutting these jerky-like sticks into bite-size pieces allows the trainer to store them in a pocket to use them as rewards for learning a behavior. They don't stain your pocket and almost all the dogs I work with enjoy them. One tiny negative is the attempt to sell these treats as brain nourishing. It was proven years ago that ginko blob had zero effect on the brains of mammals.I do, however, appreciate the fact that the treats are made in the USA as too many treats are made in China; and after the debacle with melamine killing our pets I buy nothing for any of my dogs that is not made here.

I have an english bulldog. Training my bully outside to not approach every dog without first being calm was often a challenge. I had tried to utilize numerous treats before with limited sucess at getting her to focus on my command. Plato's thinkers are not only made of great quality ingredients, but the smell and taste is something that most dogs find hard to resist. If you are looking for a great training treat I recommend these highly. Just break them up into small pieces either with a knife or by hand. These treats have not only worked with her, but with her fellow friends. I've been using this crate for 8 months and it works great. Crate training an older strong aggressive dog or one that has severe seperation anxiety might not work as easy. This is a well constructed, heavy gate with rubber skid pads for the feet. I liked the quality of the wood. I have a slick wood floor but it doesn't budge when pushed. I have two Westies (13 and 18 lbs) and neither has tried to jump over it. It definitely is for smaller dogs and would not be tall enough for medium to large dogs. While it folds flat, the feet are about 10" long so it takes up quite a bit of space in the closet. It probably wouldn't be a good choice if you have dogs that like to chew wood. Also, you can find it on other sites at lower cost than Amazon. A couple have it at $ 80 with free shipping.
I should mention I have a Aussy Sheppard as well, 60lbs so far keeps him in as well. He hasn't knocked it over, or tried to jump over.

This is a very well made product that is solid and beautiful to look at, BUT my little 8 pound Mini Schnauzer puppy quickly learned to climb over it. The horizontal bars allow it to be climbed like a ladder. So, I'm not exactly sure how that makes this dog suitable for "small to medium size dogs." Otherwise, it's very stable and adapts well to most any size opening that you would have. If you buy this product, I highly recommend training the dog to never place their front feet on the gate. A squirt bottle of water after telling them "off!" seems to work well. The optional rubber pads that stick to the bottom are a joke, the adhesive isn't nearly strong enough and they are falling off within a day or two of assemble. Fortunately, they don't really have a purpose so it's not a problem.Best Deals for Dog Gate-n-Crate for Small to Medium Size Dogs, Extends to 6-feet

I use this barrier to contain dogs for housebreaking purposes when I'm there to supervise, for senior fosters, to block off unused rooms, etc. I'm confused by people giving bad reviews because a 20" tall gate didn't contain their lab or their "mountain goat". You have to know your audience here folks. This is a wonderfully constructed, aesthetically pleasing barrier but it isn't going to stop a dog determined to get over it or one strong enough to blow through it. The beauty of this barrier is that it creates a line of demarcation discouraging dogs from crossing. I have 7 dogs and they all respect the line. My three fox terriers can jump it in a heartbeat but they know they aren't supposed to so they don't. The Chihuahuas haven't challenged it so for me it works perfectly while looking great!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dog Gate-n-Crate for Small to Medium Size Dogs, Extends to 6-feet

I have two cats, one is mine and the other is my girlfriends. My cat, although he isn't thrilled with getting the occasional "tummy pill," does do pretty well with them and doesn't usually throw too bad of a fit. My girlfriend's cat on the other hand, is quite the opposite. That little bugger will throw one of the biggest fits you ever seen when you attempt to give him a pill. You would think that we are trying to give him a bath he throws such a fit, which is another story all together!
Anyhow, we bought some of these "pill hiding treats" in an attempt to get him to take his medicine without the daily fight that is usually attached to the act of pill taking. The very first time we tried them we were both a bit apprehensive wondering if we had just wasted some money on treats instead of the normal band-aids which come in quite handy at pill time. Needless to say, these "pill pockets" worked!
We were literally amazed the first time that we gave him one with a pill in it and he actually gulped it down without even tasting it. Oh, what joy swept through our household. Little did we know that it was only going to last about 2 weeks. Just enough time for use to become complacent as far as the daily pill act was concerned.
Sure enough, we were once again outsmarted by the cat. Approximately two weeks into the "pill hiding treat" debacle, we started finding his pill on the floor but no sign of the pill pocket. We soon discovered that the little bugger was chewing the pill pocket off from around the pill and eating it without eating the pill.
Now we give him several "pill hiding treats" throughout the day, and only one of them has the pill in it, but he never knows which one it is. Although we never put it in the very first one, or the very last one. This has been working now for about a month, but I figure were running out of time on this one and had better start thinking up a new plan of attack before we are once again outsmarted by the cat.

One cat still loves them. I have to watch her carefully or she will steal the pills from the others.
One cat has figured out how to eat around the pill.
One cat sometimes takes them, but at other times just sniffs the pocket and skips it.
I have figured out a few tricks that help:
There are two types of pockets for cats: chicken and salmon. The chicken is slightly larger and more pliable and works better with larger pills. However, I think that the cats find the salmon tastier.
Get another cat treat and stick it to the side of the pill pocket. Then place the pocket so the treat faces down. My finicky cat is much more likely to eat the whole thing that way.
The pill pocket still helps with the cat who eats around it. After she eats the pill pocket, it is easier to shove the pill down her throat. She is more likely to swallow it instead of spitting it out if it tastes of pill pocket.
If you have two pills, try to fit them both in one pocket. Giving the cat fewer pockets will make it seem more of a treat.
UPDATE!
I decided to give the Pill Pockets one more try, this time success!
The key, as I hinted above, is that you must take extreme care not to get the flavor or odor of the pill on the outside of the treat. If you are right handed putting the pill in, use your left hand to pinch the treat shut.
Even better is this sequence of steps:
1. Withhold food from the cat for three to four hours so he is good and hungry.
2. Lock the cat in another room so he can't see or smell what you are doing.
3. Get out the pill and prepare it (such as cutting in half if this is the doseage given), then set it on the counter.
4. Wash your hands carefully, using a soap that the cat doesn't mind, rinse your hands well and dry with a paper towel or clean dish towel.
5. Use tweezers to insert the pill into the Pill Pocket, do not use your hands!
6. Now pinch the Pill Pocket shut, being careful not to touch the pill.
7. Now feed it to the cat.
I first thought that when the cat started chewing, he would spit out the pill, but he didn't! He licked his nose, which is a sign that he swallowed everything.
Based on this new experience, I have upgraded my rating to three stars. The product would get five stars if the package had given instructions similar to these.

So glad I got these. My cat is on a motility agent and I dreaded giving him the pills remembering the nightmare it was last year when I had to give him antibiotics for a month. With these it's no sweat. He gobbles it up. So much so that he begs for them. Today I got home and he'd managed to get the whole bag off the shelf he normally doesn't reach and tore up the bag and ate them all (more than 30 of them were left). I cringed at the thought of what would have happened if I'd decided to prefill the pockets with the meds. It would have been a tragedy he would have overdosed and died. Thank goodness I had the instinct not to do that. So word of advice is do never prefill the treats in bulk. No matter how safe you think your storage place is.Honest reviews on Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, 1.6-Ounce
My cat is pretty laid back, but when it comes to pills, it is a two person job to "pill the cat". The pill pockets worked exactly two times before the cat got wise to the ruse and refused to have anything to do with them. He won't even eat a pill pocket as it comes straight out of the package now. You might improve your odds by making certain that you pinch the treat shut with the other hand, so that the outside does not pick up the flavor or smell of the pill. I did this, but I think that the cat still knew that there was something "funny" about this treat. Maybe my cat really doesn't like Salmon flavor, but he did eat them twice.UPDATE!

I have three older cats who take arthritis pills. One also takes a thyroid pill. I decided to try the pill pockets. For the first month or so, they all loved them, and they made it easy to give the pills. However, after three months:One cat still loves them.

Best Ectopamine Natural Flea, Tick and Mosquito Control for Cats, 6 Pack Deals
I have 2 small cats with a very mild flea problemI've only seen a couple fleas on them. I tried this natural flea product after reading about the horrible side effects of topical pet pesticides (Frontline, Advantage, etc.) and even side effects of other "natural products" like Natural Defense. My cats disliked the intense smell of Ectopamine but, more importantly, it seemed to have no effect. I applied it on a Wednesday and by the following Saturday the oils had evaporated and the fleas were back. I am also concerned about reapplying Ectopamine repeatedly since its main ingredients are peppermint, clove, and lemon grass oil and these oils can cause liver damage in cats over time because cats can't metabolize essential oils like we humans can.

I've tried Frontline in the past, but it no longer works on fleas in our area. After researching I realized how dangerous it is not only for the pet for the humans around them as well. We tried Ectopamine and it definitely works, but it has a sharp drop off in effectiveness after 2 1/2 to 3 weeks depending on how bad your fleas are. We have two cats living in the same house, but one cat has fleas and other does not regardless of what we try to do around our house. In any event, ectopamine has kept at least one cat free of fleas while the other sleeps in places like hiding spots around the house that the fleas live. If ectopamine doesn't work for you it's because you need to get rid of fleas at their source. Flea treatments are only a repellent, not a solution for the source of fleas.Best Deals for Ectopamine Natural Flea, Tick and Mosquito Control for Cats, 6 Pack
I bought these drops thinking that maybe if they were natural and That they wouldn't harm my cat. Well, they certainly won't harm my cat because THEY DON"T WORK! Period.Honest reviews on Ectopamine Natural Flea, Tick and Mosquito Control for Cats, 6 Pack
I have 3 cats now and I have always used it during the winter months and also in the summer months for my cats now that do not go out and stay out all day. My other cat that stays out all day I use Advantage because it is stronger. The smell is strong to this product when you first put it on because its herbal but its not an unpleasant smell at all. it has worked just fine for me when I use it as stated above. And the price is SO AFFORDABLE! I've always ordered from MedvetFind helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ectopamine Natural Flea, Tick and Mosquito Control for Cats, 6 Pack
This doesn't work in the dry summer. Even the heavy chemical products have a hard time in hot weather, but I only use this when I want to give the cat a break from too many chemicals. I like the smell, the cat doesn't. But I pay the bills, so I make the decisions.Monday, February 10, 2014
FurGOpet Deshedding Kit, 4" Deshedding Tool for Dogs + Comb Review
We have a Siberian husky who sheds constantly. So we LOVE this product. Had this product had a quick release to remove the hair in action then this would be perfect.
As I was looking around I saw a huge display of the FURminator brushes. They looked real nice. But then I saw the price tag and my jaw about hit the floor. I would have bought one on the spot if it wasn't for the price. $80.00 full retail price. So I went home came to amazon and found them so much cheaper. But then this set caught my eye.
After doing a little research I found out that the FurGOpet is put out by the FURminator. It works basically the same way the only real difference being there is a little release button on the FURminator that pushes out the hair instead of manually pulling it out and this set has not just the de-shedder tool but the comb and wire atatchment. I didn't really need the other tools, but I got it so I could give them to my Grandmother, so she could use it on her long haired cat.
The deshedding tool works so well. After just a few passes of the brush I could have built another dog with the amount of hair it brushed out. I brushed him for about 15 minutes and it was still taking out tons of hair but I decided to quit and do it a little bit at a time each day to not irritate him just in case it bothered him, but he really didn't seem to mind. You don't have to apply to much pressure to the brush to do a good job and the only thing that the FURminator is better for is the release button. I really do like the idea of just pressing the button while holding the brush over the garbage can instead of having to pull the hair out but it's not difficult at all and it does come out easy. All in all this is a fantastic product. It does what it's supposed to. I may give it to my Grandma later and purchase the FURminator for my self since I really don't need the other tools. But for a person with a long haired dog who needs everything in the kit you can't go wrong. Everything is made sturdy and will last if taken care of properly for years to come.

I have a mutt that seems to be some sort of border terrier cross, but he's only got two coats, not three. These tools are just what I needed to groom him. I really can't rave enough about them. Recently I visited one of the nations largest "chain" pet stores in search of a good brush for my Dog. He's a medium hair hound who sheds year round by the ton. No matter how often I brush him there is always lots of loose hair still falling out. I could brush him 3 times a day for a week and not get it all. I don't like using wire brushes on him because his hair isn't quite long enough and it leaves him irritated. As I was looking around I saw a huge display of the FURminator brushes. Base is sturdy, need a drill to get screw to attach base and ball bed tight (all the way down or ball bed wobbles), smaller than photo (cat size), cushion not as soft for wicker-like frame but suitable and as advertised, bed looks decorative for any room. Worth the money, but pricey at same time. Would have given five stars if assembly didn't require buying a power tool.
So IF it arrives correctly, i think it will be fine. I couldn't have imagined how complicated returning a defective product was going to be. This is more a negative review of the company rather than the product.
Just check your bed right after you get it and heaven help you if it's defective!
UPDATE: After speaking with the president of the company, it's a toss up as to whether it was "defective." Bottom line, the first run of the product failed to leave a hole in the wicker to allow placement of the stem. so the hole is present, but the wicker runs right over top of it. i had to get screwdrivers and pliers and carefully wiggle the bolt thru the wicker in order to attach the 2 pieces. Not exactly what i expected from a $150 luxury cat bed. Pretty shoddy design and fairly inexcuseable that it wasn't recalled when they realized the "oops". I know it's a small company and they're working out the kinks but still, that's a major screwup. it's only 2 pieces and attaching them is a 1 step process. It's a fatal flaw when that 1 step involves a DIY juryrigging process. As a consumer, when i pay that much for a cat bed, i expect it to be made properly.
All that aside, not one of my cats has shown the slightest interest in it. I'm very surprised, i thought it would be right up their alley.

My kitties love to sleep in this for hours on end. When I first got it, it was fun for them to jump and play on the top of it as well, but now they're used to it the thrill is just about gone. ;) They STILL take turns spending lots of cat naps in it though, and it's been a year. I even moved it out onto my enclosed patio I had built for my furries(their catio) and it's held up like it's been pampered indoors. This bed is very attractive and cool looking, very well made, and I love it as much as the kitties do. The pod swivels to boot, so you can change the direction the opening faces without moving the base. I just ordered a second one for my critter crew as it's proven it's self to be worth every penny. If you're thinking of getting this, just do it. Fantastic little bed!Best Deals for Kitty Ball Rattan Cat Bed
i ordered mine from petsmart on black friday for 50% off. when it arrived, the hole was drilled in the wrong place. When assembled, mine looked like a wine goblet instead of a crescent moon. the opening pointed straight up! Funny at first but after 25 minutes on the phone with petsmart customer service, i wasn't laughing as much. It came direct from the manufacturer so for starters, i have to return this one before i can get refunded. Petsmart can't give me the same discount I received initially b/c it exceeds the amount they are allowed to disount, so they will have to issue me a credit for the difference on the 2nd one, in addition to full credit for my defective one. To make matters worse, petsmart is out of stock on the color I ordered, so it's all a moot point right now anyway. I had to call the manufacturer directly and leave a voicemail, waiting on a return call.So IF it arrives correctly, i think it will be fine. Honest reviews on Kitty Ball Rattan Cat Bed
I have to admit that when I got this, I was thrilled when I took it out of the box. Looks like real wicker, and came in 2 pieces. A bit challenging to balance it to screw it together for one person, but I was determined, and won. At first my two full grown cats were curious, but wouldn't get into it. I put some catnip on the cushion inside the dome. Both checked it out, played for a few minutes and got out. I tried it in various parts of the room, but they just weren't that interested in it overall. I was worried I'd wasted my money. It does sit low to the ground. I got an idea and put it up onto a dresser and provided an easy access to it. I'm seeing them use it a lot more now because "it's high up" and you know how cats love to be "high up". I'll give it a 5 star rating because its completely darling and looks great in my home, and when the cats are using it, they look so content. I believe its growing on them now that I've raised it up!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Kitty Ball Rattan Cat Bed
If you have large cat this item is too small. My cat couldn't fit in. However, if you have a smaller cat it is a very nice looking chair and is made well. I had no problem putting it together either. One screw and you are done.Friday, December 20, 2013
Discount Pet Buddies PB150-6 Poop Posse - Poop Collection Tool Set 2 - Pieces
I work at a doggie daycare in DC and we pick up a lot of dog poop. I've been through many different types of pooper scoopers in the past 14 years and have found that Poop Posse scoopers do the same job as any other scooper. They all fall apart after a while and the plastic will break if you're too rough with it in colder weather. We put these scoopers through A LOT as they are always outside, including storage. We also clean them with bleach water. They last long enough but we always need to replace them. I can't believe most scoopers charge separately for the spade and the scooper on TOP of shipping costs...and they all do the same job...pick up poop.

I have used these devices for a few decades, but have never had the rack/scoop unit break on my first time using it. The plastic broke horizontally between the rack and wood handle. I was running the rack along the surface of the grass, so there were no rocks or obvious obstacles visible. Appears to be poor quality plastic. I'll look for a metal rack instead, probably at a retail store, so I can visually inspect the product.Honest reviews on Pet Buddies PB150-6 Poop Posse - Poop Collection Tool Set 2 - Pieces

The poop holder broke off after a week of use. It is assembled cheap. Invest in a better product that will last.
