I bought these at the Humane Society store right after adopting a rescue dog. Hadn't had a dog since I was a kid 3 decades ago. Things have changed a lot with the price of dog stuff. Maybe I was a bit stunned by this fact because I rather blindly followed the recommendations of the store attendant. I didn't realize until after the 2nd bag that it was made in China. I worry about that fact, but I'm more concerned about the foods that use Chinese-sourced ingredients and don't disclose it. All I can say is this has been a great treat for my dogs over the past 10 months. It probably helps their teeth as well as any other similar products and the ingredients are grainfree and haven't affected my dogs in any negative way so far. I bought this dog house for my 85lb. Golden Retriever and it looks great!It was very easy to put together. It took less than 5 minutes. There is plenty of room and it looks like a piece of furniture. I only wish that there were more slats in the side or an optional door or window on the side. My dog likes to see whats going on around him and it is taking some time for him to get uesd to it after his standard crate.

I ordered this gate for the top of the stairs leading to our basement. Seeing as I now have this gate and the only other retractable gate from Lascal I will compare the two for other consumers.
This gate was cheaper by $21 at the time. Compared to the Lascal unit it seemed easier to install due to the plastic templates that are supplied so you know exactly where to install the hardware onto the walls. It comes with extra hardware pieces I suppose it is in case the original ones break (They seem sturdy enough though). It also comes with plenty of screws which in my opinion are not the best ones for the job (more on that later).
The gate itself is solid, and the knob that controls the gate is easier to use than the Lascal model. Neither this gate nor the Lascal gate is easy to open without using both hands, but I'd have to say this one is harder because of the hook design. The Lascal model has hooks that are wider horizontally which makes it easier to remove the gate when you want to retract it. With this gate the hooks are smaller which means there is not a lot of room between the wall and the edge of the hook to release the gate. Also the screws that are supplied do not seat flush into the hook hardware which reduces the play room for removing the gate. I found that the bottom of the gate gets caught on the screw a lot and you have to physically reach down and jiggle it to get it to come off. You can fix this by using screws with a flatter head most likely.
I would recommend this gate for an area that you do not constantly need to go in or out of. It might drive you a bit crazy if you have to use that doorway all the time.

Love this gate. I get compliments and comments on it from all of my guests. I use it at the top of the stairs in a bi-level home, so we use it all of the time to come and go. When it's not in use, it retracts into this skinny roll (tube) that hides behind our banister. This is worth all of the negatives for me to be able to fold and hide a baby gate since it is the first thing you see when you walk through our front door, and I don't want to have a huge gate swinging around in our already cramped house.The gate itself is like a thick white mesh-like material. It seems well made. My dogs have attempted to tear it down several times when they get excited about a visitor and it has held up to 90+ lb dogs trying to put their paws up on it.
I know a lot of the reviews say it requires 2 hands to open and close, but I never use 2 hands. It's a 2 step process (first to unlock the gate, then to pull the gate open or closed), but you can do the two steps with one hand. I am easily able to open and close this gate with one hand with baby in the other arm.
It does have some downsides: 1) it's not exactly great for top of the stair safety. Since it bends and is flexible, I am pretty sure that my 10 month old baby could squeeze herself under it. I keep a close eye on that. 2) It's noisy when it retracts if you don't use 2 hands at once 3) the screws it came with are worthless. Easy solution is to use different screws. 4) the process to open and close is not simple, so frequently, you have to try several times to get the unlock/open sequence right if you are using 1 hand.
It seems like a lot of negatives, but for me, the ability to retract and hide the gate away when not in use and to not have to have a big gate swinging around all of the time is worth it to us.

We have 2 inches of molding/baseboards around the edge of our floor, so we couldn't place the gate flush with the floor (the baseboard is decorative/not flat so we cannot attach the bottom of the gate to it). I didn't think 2 inches would be enough room for my 9 month old to crawl under, but I was wrong. I guess he learned from watching our dogs do it who had no problem getting under it. In other words, I just have a very expensive limbo bar between my kitchen and living room now.

I bought two of these gates: one at the bottom of a stairs and the other across my tv console area. Works great for those purposes. However, I would be careful about installing it at the top of the stairs. It is just cloth so there is a give to the fabric, even if it is locked. Make sure you have it as close to the floor as possible. Because of the way the mounting brackets are designed, even if you have the guide all the way at the bottom, there is still a two to three inch gap at the bottom. A baby can easily lift the fabric up another couple of inches. A very determined baby may be able to wiggle out. The first one I did, I started above the baseboard and it was too high. The second time, I started as close to the floor as possible and it was fine. My baby is still able to lift it up a little but not enough to get out. I used various pieces of thin wood to make the brackets even. Worth the money to just get the baseboard adjuster pieces that are sold separately. I love the fact that it rolls up out of the way.Addendum:
It's been a couple of months and we still love the gate. However, as some people have commented, the hardware that comes with the gate is crap, especially the wall anchors. They are not worth the effort. My baby has already ripped the gate out of the wall. I've instead remounted the gate using good wall anchors (the kind that looks like a big screw) and it's been fine.
2nd Addendum. It's been almost a year since I installed these gates and they are still a life saver. My little one is VERY determined to get out sometimes and hangs on these gates. They have taken quite a beating but are still holding up nicely. Definitely worth the money. I recommend it to all my friends with kids.

I have a 6 month old baby and live in a 3 story townhouse. When I was searching for baby gates the standard large swinging gates would have taken up my entire stair well and living room. I purchased this product and it was easy to install (the hardest part was finding the studs in my walls) and it takes up very little room. Also it locks down and comes up off of the brackets easily to be moved to another set of brackets and each kit comes with 2 sets of brackets. I can take my upstairs gate down to the kitchen during the day to keep the baby out of the kitchen. This is a pretty sturdy gate but getting it to hold in place is not good. There is a bar in the middle that you adjust the width of the gate to get it between two walls. But if your space doesn't fit the notches on the bar, it is too loose and a pet that jumps on it can make it fall. It would have been better if the pressure pads were attached by say 2-3 inch screws that you could use to adjust it even more by tightening or loosing the screw. Found such padded screws at hardware store but I got too small a size (1 1/2 inch). Need to get a bigger size. Works good if you put a kitchen chair on each side to hold it up and use the pressure against the wall. I don't recommend it for animals that would jump on it or try to force it down unless you find a wall to permanently attach/hook it to the wall some how. Say a hinge on one side an a hook/clip on the other wall side.

the gate itself is very high well made and i especially like that its wire...the last one i had several years ago look the same but shorter but not made with wire but plastic so that when hauled it out of garage +most of the plastic had rotted off.i got this becuase i got a new kitten and wanted to separate himand the older menapausal cranky cat for a while. well little cat loves a challenge and she hefted her 9 week 2 pound body up and over the fence like a marine in basic training.
aslo it is a hassle when i have to go into room where gate is and have to move it. there ar gates i've seem that have a pass thru door. Had i known height wasn't going to matter i would have opted for one of those

Pet containing items are expensive. I know this, and every pet owner knows this. If your pet container doesn't work, the results are distastrous. I especially know this, after my dog learned how to jump out his $120 pen only two weeks after purchasing it. I come home to find my apartment a mess. I can only imagine how many pet owners can relate. Well, the good news is that this extra-high dog gate does work, and it works great. The thing is deceitfully strong, and with the wire mesh somewhat flexible, the dog can pull at it fiercely with having minimal effect on removing the wood frame from its place. The remaining star goes out to the desire of having the frame be made of metal or even plastic. The wood seems fine, but I think it will wear out sooner than any other material choice.As a note, I would get the *extra-tall* gate seen below-I have an 8-lb Pomeranian and he could easily figure out how to climb over the shorter version of this gate despite being so low to the ground.

Any toy that lasts 2 months is a 5 star toy to me. My Great Dane loves this thing. I needed something for the bottom of the stairsbut because of railings and trim, I needed something that could differ a little bit in width(top and bottom). Because you can adjust all 4 mounts, it fit perfectly! My dogs can't get thru it, its taller than the wooden gates so they can't jump it, and you can leave the gate in an open position when its not needed. It takes a little getting used to as far as opening with one hand, but overall it's great. i plan on ordering more!
Initially unwilling to accept this, I decided to baby-gate him into the kitchen (for easy "accident" clean-up on the tile floor) and thus invested in 2 standard baby gates (the wooden frame, crisscrossing plastic mesh type) and much to my surprise he hopped it with no problem. I decided to try TWO baby gates in the doorway, one atop another. Although impractical, it seemed there was no way he'd be able to leap over the fortress wall. You can imagine my surprise when I came home one afternoon to find him scaling the mesh like spiderman, near the top of the second gate, calculating HOW he could get over the top and have pure freedom. Clearly this wasn't working.
On visits back and forth to my parent's house, we had to separate the dogs as their great dane thought my dog was "snacktime" ... and my dad invested in a gate very similar to the evenflo, for about twice the price. The benefits of that gate were as follows:
1) vertical "jail bars" meant my dog couldn't climb his way over to freedom
2) it was exceptionally tall which prevented our dane from being able to peek over (we covered it with blankets so it didn't drive him crazy to see the little dog running around on the other side)
...a few months ago I relocated to a new house on a busy road, and after three near-escapes, I decided it was time to create a separation between the back and front part of the house so the dog didn't end up getting killed if he finally managed to run past someone.
I found the evenflo gate at Meijers, and was pleasantly surprised that it seemed to offer all the benefits of the more expensive gate, but at half the price. Other features I enjoy about this gate include:
1) NO automatically closing door. While auto-close may be helpful for people with kids, my gate is left open 99% of the time. The gate is positioned in a walk-through area and it would be a HUGE pain to have to open it every time I wanted to walk from one side of the house to another. The only time I close the date is if I need to leave the door open (taking out trash, etc.) and then I make sure the dog is on the other side of the gate, close it, and go about my business.
2) vertical jail bars mean no impromptu climbing expeditions
3) pressure-mount --I will admit the first time we installed a pressure mount gate it was a pain and a headache, but once you get it, its a snap.
I will give a word of warning, however. My doorway is the minimum size for this gate (29 inches I believe) and it BARELY BARELY fits. If your doorway is undersized or even slightly smaller than the minimum, don't waste your money. There is really no way to rig these gates if you can't squeeze it into your doorway level.
My hopefully helpful notes to you regarding this gate:
(1) They say not to put it at the top of the stairs. Pretty sure they're just covering their collective legal butts there. I could see why. If you put one at the top of the stairs and give it a gentle nudge, you may notice it give a little -especially if you've put in the extender. A toddler is unlikely to make it topple but be forewarned. That's on you.
(2) RE: the extender -I feel like there's a little wobble and give when you have the extender attached. Doesn't feel as sturdy.
(3) It's nice having the four corners as independently adjustable. Let's you put this just about anywhere. That said, there seems to be some "exact" width that won't work. Where I installed ours, the baseboard moulding was too wide to install this without the extender -but with the extender it wouldn't fit and we had to "raise up" the gate to install it over the baseboard moulding. And so it goes.
(4) The handle/latch mechanism is... well, it takes some getting used to. It takes some force and finesse. Give yourself a day or two to get used to it. Give yourself a week before you really get used to it.
Am I pleased? Pleased enough. It gets the job done and I don't have to fret with stepping over a "traditional" baby gate (nor put it up and take it down twice a day...)
OPTIONAL: Use a zip-tie strap, etc. to secure the gate before removing to temporary storage. Can ease reinstall, but not necessary.
NOTE: I lay a small rug over the lower bar once set up as a visual reminder to step over the lower bar. Necessary if I go barefoot and want to spare my toes.

This gate was purchased at a local baby store it installs in just a few minutes, but broke the first time we tried to open it. All forces applied against the gate when closed are focused on a tiny plastic peg about 1/3 inch in diameter. This snapped off instantly. Upon examination the piece is actually hollow! We called evenflo who sent us another gate. This gate arrived broken in the exact same place! If I could give negative or at least 0 stars, I would. My 1/2 Yorkie & 1/2 Doxie is too long for "small" and too "small" for medium, so glad I found this in-between size. Kyjen Holiday Festive Christmas Gingerbread House Theme Pet Dog Reviews
I ordered the Gingerbread House Puzzle more because of the Christmas theme than for its usefulness. The items inside the house are okay as dog toys, but I'm not sure how well they are going to hold up when actually played with. The house itself has a cardboard bottom that I don't care for as much as the Bee Hive and the Squirrels Nest that are soft all around. All in all this product is pretty much as I expected and looks cute sitting amongst the Christmas decorations.

I purchased this gate to contain my athletic 6 month old lab. I use it at the top of the stairs. I slide one end under the coat closet door knob and fold the other two sides so that the other end slides along a rail. My home is a bi-level and the rail is at the top of the stairs. It keeps it in place. If the dog is especially active , I use a bungee cord to hold the rail side in place.
The gate is very well made,attractive,worth the expense. It is like a lovely piece of furniture. And it keeps the dog where he needs to be.
When I need to go to the lower level, I simply slide the gate and fold one side back. Works great for me.

This looks like nicely finished furniture. It is easy to move and change configurations. Most stable in the u-shape.Very well made and nice to look at.

Fits perfectly onto my truck, and the magnet is definitely strong enough to keep it in place. With some car magnets they tend to slide off, but that is not the case with this one. Well made and durable. I also have the "I heart my pitbull" magnet as well.
