I ordered this muzzle so my chiropractor would feel at ease working with my achey (and thus grumpy) girl. He doesn't worry about her growls, and is able to be quicker with his healing hands! Less than 15 minutes, and we're done; so, it makes the visit good for everyone. Plus, when we go for our annual vet checkup, now we won't have to be subjected to their ill-fitting muzzle. (Another consideration that influenced my decision: I recently discovered that many states have mandatory muzzle rules for emergency evacuations; I never want to leave my girl behind, so having a muzzle is a must for us!) I also must note that the seller was so kind and helpful in working with me to determine the right size for my dog. I'd order from her again in a heartbeat! Thanks!

Romp! Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan The Alpha Duck, Nylon Review
Nothing in the product information led me to believe this was a "sturdy" toy, but I wanted to test the Dog Whisperer product line and the mesh material. No toy stands up to our lab/pitt mix, but this poor duck never stood a chance. Stitching seams are no match for aggressive chewers, now the duck looks more like a bat with the wings barely holding on. Nylon material is a nice change from our normal fuzzy critters, but I would say this needs to be limited to dogs with gentle mouth and teeth. Also, definitely is not a tug-and-pull toy. 2-stars because it may be a good "prize" for a gentle dog to tote around.

I have a small beagle sized dog and even though I received this toy as a gift I thought I would leave a review. My dog received this as an x-mas gift and in less than an hour it was destroyed. My dog basically ate $10 or however much it cost in less than 60 minutes. I am very pleased with this crate. It erected easily within moments, is extremely sturdy and big enough for all but, possibly, the giant breeds. My Rottweiler can lie down stretched out, if that is her preference, and can stand up without hunching over. She loves this crate far better than her plastic airline type crate as she has better visibility and I believe that she feels less confined. It is also much cooler in the heat of the summer than the plastic crate.
The only caveat that I would add is, if your pooch is an escape artist, you might want to put an additional clip or two on the door. The fasteners are fine for most dogs but I know my Border Collie would figure a way to open that door in no time flat. This is not a major criticism, by any means---I heartily recommend this crate. Also, the price is good when you consider the free shipping. I've seen this item listed for much less money but by the time you add the shipping (this crate is heavy!), you will pay the same or more. Also, it arrived in about a week so no complaints there.

This is a nice dog crate. It folds up easily to transport. It includes a divider, so that one can adjust the size of the crate as the puppy grows. The divider is a bit of a pain to install and adjust, but it works well. The crate also has a pull out tray at the bottom. The tray is easy to remove for cleaning. The crate also has some removable handles. They work well when the crate is set up and you want to move it across the room, but I haven't found a good way to attach the handles when the crate is folded up. On December 5, I bought a 36/24/27, single door, dog crate to prepare for our lab puppy to be picked up on Christmas Eve. Do to unfortunate circumstances, our puppy came home on December 8th! The following day the Midwest Life Stages Crate arrived I was so very happy to receive it so soon. I noticed the pan had been cracked in shipping and notified the seller, JB Wholesale Pet Supplies.Not only did JB Wholesale Pet Supplies, send a replacement pan right out in the mail, but they actually called me on the phone and apologized for any inconvenience, talked with me about puppy training, and wished us well with our new puppy.
The crate training is working well, the Lab is safe and our socks get respite! The Life stages divider is really a good idea. I would certainly do business with J. B. Wholesale Pet Supplies again what a great company!

Midwest's crates come in three "duty" ratings, light, medium, and heavy which correspond to their iCrate, Life Stages, and Ultima Pro lines respectively. The higher duty rating comes from heavier wire being used in the same sized crate.Midwestpetproducts.com website states the following:
"Midwest provides the perfect home for every breed and temperament.
Light Duty: For new puppies that will be crate trained from the start and for breeds with a mild temperament.
Medium Duty: for older puppies and breeds with an average temperament.
Heavy Duty: for adult dogs that have never been crate trained and for active breeds."
Wish they identified the duty rating clearly with their different product lines.

I looked at several brands and types of crates for my soon to arrive Doberman puppy before deciding on this one. I was considering a soft crate as an option but after I spoke with a few people who had their puppy chew right through them I decided that would be a bad choice. I couldn't see a reason to have multiple doors so I decided the single door Midwest seemed like the best solution for me.I purchased a size he can grow into when he is older because even as an adult my dogs use a crate for a peaceful area of rest and safety. Most crates now days do come with a divider and the one that comes with this crate works well but it will take a minute or two of wrestling with it to put it in place. Although this crate is a larger size is was very simple and quick to set up and is plenty sturdy. The door opens, closes and locks smoothly. The tray in the bottom is easily removed if needed and the crate doesn't rattle or shake. It is not a crate you would want to pack on a trip due to the weight and size unless you had a BIG motor home but for home use it is perfect. The dog bed that Midwest offers for this crate is a good option and seems sturdy enough for the money (we have washed in three times in a few weeks with no wear and tear).
I would just like to close this review by reminding anyone that is considering crate training to PLEASE do it! Your dog will be happier, you will house break him/her quicker and you will be able to control the time you have to watch your best friend so they don't get into anything harmful that could cause serious injury.

I don't know how this house would hold up against our 70+ lb Labrador, but it works great for our ducks!
We have 3 pet ducks who need to be protected from predators at night. We had a heck of a time finding a suitable, attractive shelter that didn't cost a fortune which is why I feel compelled to write this review.
Why it's a good duck house:
* Interior is 6.7 sq ft, which works out to 2.2 sq ft per bird for our 3 ducks an adequate amount of space for overnight confinement. (They live outside in a pen during the day.)
* Shuttered side window provides ventilation while protecting from predators.
* Hinged, latching door provides predator protection other houses we looked at didn't have a door, we would've had to rig one up. The top of the door has open bars you will want to put hardware cloth or something behind the bars to keep critters like `coons from reaching in and terrorizing your ducks. Make sure to bend the sharp edges of the hardware cloth under so your ducks won't get hurt. :)
* Removable roof and floor panels make for easy cleaning but be advised that while the roof is "removable", it is not hinged. You have to actually unscrew it I believe. We're going to modify our roof somehow, so we can just lift it up/off (but there will be a way to lock it down securely on the house).
* It's low to the ground our ducks don't need a ramp to get in. We did put a board down on the ground in front of the house as a step, but they don't really need it. They can just hop right in.
* Affordable especially through Amazon w/ free shipping.
I hope this helps any other duck owners looking for a shelter/coop for their quackers!

Very attractive doghouse. This can easily crossover as a chicken or duck coop. My chicken coop had an electrical fire. Decided no more heatlamps so got this doghouse because when the birds huddled together in it, it will keep them warm. Just have to add a few things to it to turn it into a functional coop (add cinder blocks, ramp, shelves, wedge to keep door partially open or cut bottom part of door). Was looking at other coops online and this can do the trick for 6 chickens easily. Took my handyman all of a half hour to put together.Update: 10-18-2011. Being I had someone weatherproof seal the outside, it is holding up well. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SEAL THE OUTSIDE TO MAKE IT LAST AND LOOK SOMEWHAT SHINY. It is not difficult getting the chicken eggs out of this If making it a coop, just put hay in it and the chickens lay their eggs in it.
UPDATE: May 2012. I have bought this in March of 2011. For this being over a year old, it is still in great condition. It looks like after my review, that some other people used theirs for ducks. Indeed, it is a very nice looking house. My chickens seem to like it, but they like the new barn better. You might want to paint the roof later, because chickens poo up on the top of it, other than that, it is very nice.

I recently bought this dog house for my Beagle/Hound. Its very appealing to the eye however after the first rain one of the boards on the roof started to split. (We've had it 1 month). I'm hoping it holds up because we paid a little over $200. and thats a lot of money to throw away.I will say that it was easy to put together and its very light.

After reading the reviews, we decided to try this for our duck coop (4 ducks). It was put together easily and has worked like a charm for our ducks. We added 1/4" hardware mesh on the top of the front door for some extra predator protection. I just ordered another one to work as a house for our turkey chicks.Update 05/21/2013: We are still using both of these houses for ducks. They have held up well through the winter and elements. Our chickens like to roost on the roof. While they have faded a bit over the past year, they still look great! Highly recommend!

One of our cats is rather large not fat, but just big tall and long and lean and muscular and regular kitty toys are just too small for him. So, he'd pick up my shoes and carry them around and chew on them. Some time ago, I came across this toy in a store and bought it for him. HE LOVED IT! He carried that thing everywhere. He loved chewing on the belly of the chick to make it "cheep-cheep-cheep." He brought it to bed with him (er, us) at night. If I went outside, he'd carry his chick to the door and sit there and cry, chewing on his chick and waiting for me to come back. Eventually, the little electronic sound 'button' inside the chick stopped working. I tried to find another one of these chicks to replace the original. I found a similar one, but it's noise-maker was just one of those squeaky things. My cat didn't like it as much. I was thrilled to find this on Amazon. As soon it arrived, I gave it a squeeze and my cat went nuts! His eyes got HUGE and he started purring right away! Even though it's been a few years since his chick could make the "cheep-cheep-cheep" noise, he remembered it! He just loves this toy. Many people would find the quacking annoying but we find it funny. It is by far my dog's favorite toy. We bought this dog house about 8+ years ago for one of our older dogs. She has now passed on and our 3 border collies have taken residence & use this to rest & shelter in when they are outside.It was very easy to put together and has not fallen apart in 8+yrs. We have taken it apart to move and clean it, and we move it to different spots around the yard and it holds up well.
Our big border collie (60 lbs) and the small one (40lbs) both fit in there in a rain, thunder or snow storm. They dont seem to mind both being together in there as long as they are sheltered. Years ago, for a joke , I can remember my husband actually got into it and he's 230lbs he backed in as far as he could go and fit !!!
The snow and rain only get inside if it's blowing sideways, I made a bed to fit inside and it rarely gets wet, but we put the house in the most sheltered position for rain/snow.
Our youngest Border Collie chews everything plastic and I mean EVERYTHING, but she has never even tried to chew this house thank goodness.
Even after daily use for 8+yrs it still looks really good and does not look old and weathered, the floor/walls/roof have not buckled or become mis-shapen, even with the extremes of temperatures we get in Colorado. I would buy this house again in a heartbeat if anything happened to this one.

I have owned this for over a year and I can write an honest review. WORTHLESS. Buy something else or build your own. I wanted a doghouse for our 85# doberman. Some of the reviews spoke about dogs larger than mine, so I figured this would work plus our dog is 50/50 inside and outside so I knew it wouldn't have heavy use.Basic requirements:
1. Large enough for him to curl up inside: Pass (barely-THAT photo has to be a small lab)
2. Keep the wind off of him in the winter: Fail
3. Keep the sun off of him in the summer: Pass
4. Keep him dry. Fail--miserably.
Problem: The sides of the house do not line up flush with base(see pic) so any rain that hits the side rolls down and goes inside the dog house instead of down onto the ground outside. (either that or its curling under the roof(which I don't think so)) I have to constantly replace cedar chips, even a slight rain will seep inside.
Its not just at the opening thats getting wet. It apparently leaks all the way around as evidenced by the rain we got last night, since the bottom piece is concaved inside it looks like a cedar chip swimming pool. ( I am ticked off this thing cost $200.00 bucks)
The picture that is posted is misleading. The fit is not that good. If the reviews from 3-4 years ago are honest(I am suspicious) then the manufactuer has fired its quality control person. I recieved all the parts and it snapped together easily enough--this isn't a heavy duty dog house it is just an expensive shelter. But even shelters should have the ability to keep a dog's bed dry. (call me crazy for thinking this is a basic requirement)

My dogs did not like this house as it has no insulation to keep them warm. If you get strong winds it will blow over as it's very light weight. If you live in a warm place all year round with little wind it might be good, but after a year and my dogs didn't use it I gave it away to a friend. I always bring them inside at night and in bad weather anyway and feel this was a waste of money. Better to build your own out of wood with insulation and a shingle roof.Saturday, May 31, 2014

The Guardian Gear Vinyl Dog Rain Jacket with Reflective Strip is a good product. The sizing chart was very hard to locate online and I couldn't find it with the Amazon.com listing of this jacket but once I found the chart, I determined which size my dog needed. Once I received the rain jacket I put it on my Smooth Collie. I found that the chest sizing wasn't accurate on the chart. The jacket's chest strap is way too long for the sewn on velcro stips to latch together. So I have to improvise and make the chest strap loop around in order for the velcro stip to latch together properly. The rain jacket itself is of good vinyl quality. It is sewn together nicely. And it comes with a little hood. But this hood is too little and short to fit over a larger dog's head, like my Collie. So it basically sits at the back of her head and ears. The back/rear part of the rain jacket sits about a few inches away from the end of her back, so if it is raining, her tail end will get wet. But for the most part, her back and sides and neck area will be protected. The extra material under the neck is I suppose for looks. It's totally unnecessary. Also, there are very thin, cheap pieces of elastic to fit around the rear legs so the rain jacket doesn't slip off the dog's back and land under the dog while it walks. I found that if you don't put these elastic loops around your dog, the jacket will slide to the dog's side or under the dog. So these elastic loops are necessary but very cheap and I am certain they will stretch out over time and not work as well. Overall, the Guardian Gear Vinyl Dog Rain Jacket with Reflective Strip is a good and well sewn product. But the manufacturer's sizing chart doesn't reflect how the jacket actually fits on the dog. The strap that holds the jacket in place on the chest is made too long for a Smooth Collie sized dog, which for my dog is X-Large. This jacket is a nice way to protect your dog from the elements and I will use it for my Smooth Collie even though the strap is long. I will make it work. But for those folks reading this review, just know that the back of the jacket needs to be longer, the strap needs to be shorter and the hood needs to be larger. Other than that, it's a nice doggie rain jacket.

My dog is a slender, long legged 15#s and the small coat fits him well. I had to take in the belly band because he's slim through the middle, but it should even fit over his winter coat. It works great.We all laughed (with) him and his buddies all barked at him because they didn't recognize him, but he was unfazed. If you run the leash through the slot on the back, the hood stays up.
There's even a pocket for him to carry his cellphone or money for a call. I love the coat.

The medium size fits well for my 20 lb dog, except that the hood doesn't cover enough of his head. The hole for the leash is kind of far down the back, so it works well using our dog harness, but then the hood isn't far enough up to cover his head much. (But maybe my dog wouldn't like his head covered anyways.) My dog also has a long curly tail which curls up, not down, so the jacket doesn't cover over it, nor his bottom. The gate is tall and works well in the standard door jam I am using it in. I use it for my crazy chocolate lab, and it works well. I was concerned she would jump over the typical 36" gates. The 44" height was the main reason I bought it. When I took it out of the box a few screws were loose, and one was even stripped. A little chintzy when it is standing free, but is quote solid when in-place. The total quality is somewhat lacking, but it gets the job done.

I don't know if you have tried to find extra tall gates for a reasonable price, but I found it damn near impossible. I was quite excited when I stumbled upon this gate. My dog likes to jump and can leap over almost all regular sized gates. Luckily she won't even try with this one she knows she has no chance! It looks huge coming out of the box, but that's exactly what I wanted. It probably could a little higher in quality, but I have been more than pleased with this gate. I bought the gate because I needed to contain the cats that I foster to the back of the house (my resident kitty doesn't like other cats wandering the house and I foster about 30 cats a year for the local animal shelter). I was skeptical a gate would work and was very pleased when it actually contained the cats. I did have a minor problem with the fit my hallway is actually 50 1/4 inches where I installed the gate. I solved the problem by using stick-on felt protectors. The 44 inch height is perfect. The first day that I had the gate up the cats did try to climb over, but a couple of verbal warnings was all I needed to deter them. There is nothing fancy about this gate. It is the old standby "baby gate" that is taller than most. It is dependable, made well, and works just like you would expect. I found the price was good. But this gate, because it is taller than most, is not a gate you can climb over, which I think, if you are ordering tall to begin with, you probably realize. It needs to be used on a doorway that you don't use very often, because you'll have to remove it each and every time you want to go through the opening. I would highly recommend this gate. I use it for my cat...anything lower she would be able to jump. The gate is very sturdy, well made. I got it at a lower price from Amazon...the only damage was to the box, and didn't affect the gate at all...a real bargain.
