He hates the shampoo but then again he hates all shampoo so I wouldn't go by his opinion. In my opinion the shampoo is fabulous and he smells like a giant apple after we give him a bath. After he's dry he goes totally ballistic and starts running around the house trying to dig holes in the hardwood floor and jumping all over the furniture so even if he claims he doesn't like the shampoo I think he actually does. Oh, and it helps with all the shedding he does too.

I wanted to purchase a soft crate, thinking that it would be more comfortable for my small dog. He was able to push his way through it easily and break the entrance within a span of two hours. I'm disappointed with the quality. I recommend that only dogs who are really comfortable being crated use this crate-already trained and not in the process of training-should use this crate, otherwise I highly recommend that you stick to a wire or plastic crate.

I have a 4 year old boxer who has always been fighting allergies. He would dry heave and throw up due to allergies. After researching I found out that dogs that suffer from allergies tend to suffer from inflamation which could strike in their intestines, stomach, bones etc. It started about 2 years ago when my dog would dry heave and throw up once every three weeks and began to happen more frequently. I racked my brain, changing out his food 4 different times. Consulted the vet and he told me as long as he is not throwing up more then once a week that it was ok and just allergies to just give him Benadryl. In the last 6 months my dog would throw up every 4 days and his flagellation was absolutely out of control. He also suffered from sneezing and runny nose. I spent many hours on the internet researching possible causes and remedies when I ran into this product. Desperate I decided to try and I am absolutely impressed. Also I quickly learned that it is very common that animals suffer from some sort of allergies and inflamation from these allergies will cause severe issues such as itching, hair loss, arthritis and even heart problems. Fatty acids like the ones that are in this product help fight the inflamation and most animals do not produce these acids. Also I read that pet food that advertises they include these fatty acids are not good enough. I plan to make this product a permanent part of my dog's diet.

This brand was recommended to me by my veterinarian for my dog's allergies and overall heart health. They don't sell it in their office, so it wasn't just a sale to them. I found the best price on Amazon, much cheaper than they are at the healthy grocery store chain.

Since taking it, my English Bulldog sheds significantly less, his hair is a little softer, his ears bother him less frequently (chronic ear infections), and he smells a little better. He still gets ear infections, so he isn't cured of all that ails him, but it's less often than it had been.

My main concern was the size of the pill. They are about the same size as the human fish oil pills, and I thought my dog wouldn't swallow it. Bulldogs don't have very big throats, but I keep a little softened butter on the counter and I dip the pill in it. He gobbles it up like a treat and I assume the butter helps it go down smoothly. Olive oil has also worked, but he will spit it out occasionally. The dog likes his butter.

I'll definitely keep buying these.

I have a small indoor dog who is very picky about wanting a clean puppy pad. So I thought this product would be the answer to my prayers, offering my dog a clean, dry place to go while relieving me of the burden of changing his pad several times a day and eliminating accidents caused by me not getting the pad changed often enough to suit his royal dogginess. I bought my Pet Loo from Gulf Coast Pet Products here at Amazon, and it arrived in good condition, although the grass was very flattened and I've never been able to get it to stand up properly. Still, not a big issue.

It took quite a while to train my dog to the Pet Loo mainly because he HATES anything that shifts underneath his feet, and doesn't like unlevel flooring. But I finally won out, thanks to a snowstorm, and was able to get rid of the pads at last. Or so I thought.

I followed the company's instructions carefully. I made sure to rinse it with hot water every night, and put it in the tub for a good, thorough cleaning once a week. The company assured consumers on it's website that, if these instructions were followed, odor would not become a problem. Boy, were they wrong. After a couple of weeks of constant use by my 10 lb. dog, it began to seriously stink of urine. I've tried flushing it out twice a day instead of once (which didn't help at all), and even tried adding bleach to the water the last time I cleaned it. The bleach worked, for a couple of days then it was right back where it was before its weekly cleaning. This is a serious issue, as the unit is in my bedroom and the smell spreads all through the back half of our house.

I've examined it to try to figure out what is going wrong, and my best guess is that the holes drilled into the grass to allow the urine to drain aren't spaced closely enough together. In some areas, they're two or three (or more) inches apart, and I suspect that's what is causing the issue, as the holes on my grass look nothing like the holes in their photos of how the underside of the grass is supposed to look.

I doubt I'm the only one who has had this problem. When I purchased the product, almost a year ago, the company website claimed that nothing more than a daily rinse and weekly wash was necessary to control odor. I recently visited the site to find that they had begun recommending a spray 2-3x/week of an enzymatic cleaner they produce in order to get effective odor control. Since the bottles are about $15/16oz (including shipping) this means that the cost benefit of not having to buy puppy pads has been erased. When I checked the website the other day, the frequency recommendation for the cleaner had been removed, although the product itself was still being sold.

Since I've already invested a great deal of time and money into this product, I will try the recommended cleaner to see if there's any improvement. If anything astonishingly effective occurs, I'll add onto this review to let everyone know. However, at this point, I'm frustrated with the product and feel sufficiently mislead that I suggest that new puppy owners look into the grassy puppy pad holders Walmart has to offer for $40, rather than spending three times that amount on this product.

EDITED TO ADD:

The reason I gave the Pet Loo two stars is twofold. First, if it weren't for the smell, it'd be a truly great product. Even with the odor issue it's more convenient than using puppy pads. Secondly, if the product were to be used outdoors, it would probably work really well. I don't believe the odor is strong enough to make it unpleasant outdoors on a patio or balcony. Taken together, I believe that earns the two star rating. If it had been advertised as a "suitable for outdoor use only" product, I would have rated it even higher.

I agree with the other reviewers that state the factory hole spacing in the grass mat doesn't provide adequate drainage.

THE PROBLEM: the grass mat doesn't have the special pass-through mesh backing like some other specialized puppy grass products use Pet Loo uses the standard solid-sheet-of-rubber-mat-backing you find at the neighborhood hardware superstore. The holes look like they're burnt through the rubber grass backing with a hot wire, are very irregularly spaced (mine had several 3"x4" areas with NO holes at all, looks like they missed large patches when making the holes), and some aren't cleanly perforated. Basically, the urine needs to flow sideways several inches before draining (coating the grass blades, the backing, and sometimes the dog's foot in the process).1

MY MODIFICATION: I used an X-acto and added my own holes every couple of inches. It took a while, and I must've added 50 or more holes to fill in all the factory gaps, but the Pet Loo works now like it should have out of the box. Urine drains well, and only simple maintenance needed to prevent severe stinkness!!!

ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTION: you can buy a 23"x23" replacement grass from one of those companies that make the e-z drain mesh backing type. I ordered three mats from a company called k9grass that makes mats to custom sizes (I have no conflict of interest, and am not trying to endorse their products for any personal gain...), but they're kind of expensive.

PROS: the base is light, made out of very sturdy plastic (has a plus-brace for rigidity). It holds my little potato (13# Jack Russell) with ease. It might even hold my weight (about 155#). The urine collection cup slides out easily and holds plenty of liquid, no spills yet for me. After modifications and weekly cleaning (hose down in the shower, hand rub both sides with gentle soap.

CONS: poorly executed grass mat as above. for the price, there's no excuse for faulty design / shoddy craftmanship, should work out of the box without modification.

Overall, being a tinkerer at heart, I actually had fun slicing and dicing with the rubber mat. I'd have to say I like my Pet Loo. My dog didn't take too long to get used to it, and now she pees on her own time, doesn't have to sit around waiting for a walk.

have a new yorkie puppy and was looking for alternatives to expensive puppy pads. researched this product on-line on several sites and read great reviews for it so decided it was worth the money. found best price at amazon so placed our order. we have had the product for a few weeks only and have been very disappointed. our puppy had no issues using once we got him used to it and we thought it would be great but then we began to notice a bad smell coming from the grass. despite cleaning the grass daily per the instructions provided, the odor did not go away. more problematic was the fact that when we gave the grass a thorough weekly cleaning, as instructed, the underside began to completely disintegrate and the grass began to unravel. the product claims the grass should not need to be replaced EVER but after a month, we couldn't use it anymore. even though we bought an extra grass so we would have one to use while we cleaned the other, both have had the same problems. now we are back to the puppy pads and hoping to find more economical and eco-friendly alternative!

did want to say that despite being extremely disappointed with pet loo product, we were VERY satisfied with customer service from Amazon. they responded to our issues very quickly and were happy to refund our money so we don't feel like we lost out too much. have been an amazon shopper for several years and have always been happy, now even more so!

We have a very small paved courtyard & with a new 8 week old puppy about to arrive needed a product that would enable the pup to toilet in the same spot.

The pet loo seemed to be the most reasonable priced & functional product to achieve this aim so we ordered from Amazon (from time of order to delivery in Australia was 6 days very impressive).

The Pet Loo arrived essentially already assembled so set up was very easy.

Initially we had great difficulty in getting the pup to stand on the Pet Loo & were about to give up when we realised that the artificial grass was moving each time he stood on the Pet Loo.

The artificial grass is not fastened to the base of the loo. We solved the problem by placing 4 bricks on the sides of the grass to stop movement. This fixed the problem & within 4 days the pup was trained & using the pet loo without any further encourgement from us.

The problem of the grass moving when the dog climbs on is an issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer as the the Loo with 4 bricks sitting on top detracts from the appearance of the product.

Apart from the grass as an issue the product works well & collects the fluids & drains to the holder very effiently. It is also very easy to clean.

If the design issue relating to the grass was fixed we would have rated this a 5 star product

We live downtown on the eighth floor with slow elevators that break down a lot so potty training a puppy was too hard without finding an indoor solution. We started with PupHead grass which was working ok for us the first 10 months of potty training until our bulldog outgrew it and stared relieving himself on the sides of the grass, spilling onto the floor.

We purchased this product hoping that it would be easier to clean & use by our bulldog. In theory the Pet Loo being raised was the solution since he'd have to hop on. However once he jumped off for the first time the grass went flying & freaked him out to the point he would only use the grass if we placed him on & took him off. We ended up using screws to keep the grass from moving but he'd still be shaking in fear every time we put him on it. We left it out for him for about a month to see if he'd warm up to it himself, meanwhile taking him on his daily walks 3x a day. He never did warm up to it but he did end up holding his bowels while we where at work.

Cons:

Poor design grass has rubber backing which takes days to dry fully & still slips under the weight of heavy dogs

Horrible smell I rinsed every time I'd place him on it with water & clean in twice a week in the tub and it still smelled worse than the Puphead grass

Eye sore other potty grass on the market don't look as cheap as this one

Pros:

SInce our dog was petrified of the thing it actually ended up potty training him. We now just take him out 3-4 times a day & he's doing fine not having a place to go in the loft anymore.

If I had to do it all over again I'd buy the larger version of the pup grass we had before which was a bit more expensive. We ended up tossing the Pet Loo this weekend.... I guess you get what you pay for.

We have an indoor cat who is getting up in years, and is always looking for something warm to lie on. Since I have trouble typing with a cat on the laptop, I bought one of these heaters a few years ago.

They have about the right amount of heat for an indoor cat who is just cold-basically it is about the equivalent of sitting on a chair that a nice warm human just got up from. FYI 13 watts is about the equivalent heat from two old-fashioned Christmas lights.

One cautionthis is only the heating element. It is made out of vinyl, sort of like an icepack, and is probably not something your animal will want to sleep on directly. It definitely needs a cover of some type. If you animal is a chewer or scratcher, you will probably want a zippered pouch for it.

The size makes it a very tight fit into the bottom tube of one of those scratching post/houses made out of carpeted cardboard tubes. It is flexible enough to roll up and surround the cat on three sides, which he loves.

Luckily the first one of these I bought came with the fleece pouch, and I could just replace the heater in it with this one. This is handy, because each of these heaters (3 in total) have lasted about one year and then stop heating.

I wish they were more robust, but $25/year really isn't all that much in the cat ownership financial picture, so I just pay it and shut up.

3 stars only because I only use these indoors, and my cat is pretty docile, so there is no reason these things should keep failing so often.

I purchased the K & H warmer from PetSmart with the cover, but I've moved the warmer unit between different cat beds. The cover that you can get it for it is a flat mat and good for cool spaces, but for really chilly places like right in front of a drafty window -putting it under the cover of an oval or "cup" style bed will keep your kitty toasty and happy.

Not only do the warmers fit nicely under the removable cover of a cup or oval style bed, they also slide nicely into most kitty "hammocks" (the sort you can cantilever on window sills). Great for winter bird-feeder gazing!

Safety note: if your kitty "milk treads" a lot and you put the warmer directly under the cover of a cup style bed, make sure to keep your kitty's claws trimmed. Putting the warmer unit underneath the entire cup is a waste because the heat will disperse into the surface below the bed instead of warming your kitty.

If you want to put a warmer in a cold place like a basement or garage, cement disperses the heat too easily -opt for the outdoor warmer. This one just isn't enough in those cases. The K & H outdoor kitty warmer uses 40watts instead of 6, but keeping your kitty warm and healthy is worth it.

For indoor and "upstairs" use only, 6 watts worth of warmer pad is positively great, and it uses less electricity than a bulb-style night light.

This product is PERFECT for your pet on those chilly nights. We have 2 boxers that sleep in separate beds and they used to sleep in tight little balls but now they lie sprawled out from one end of the beds to the other!

The warmer doesn't get too hot (which is good) so you have to place it under a slender piece of material or it doesn't work very well. For example, one of our beds is a normal egg shell with a fabric cover and we have the warmer inside of a pillowcase and zipped up between the fabric and egg shell and it works great. On the other bed, it has a thick pillow as a base so we had to put the warmer on top of the pillow and then cover it with a blanket; otherwise, with the warmer under the pillow the top of the pillow never got warm. The key thing to remember is that these are WARMERS so they don't feel warm enough to a person but they get PLENTY warm for a pet.

Update: 01/23/2012

These warmers are both still going strong/warm... they have been used nightly for anywhere from 8 10 hours for 4 months out of the past 3 years. No problems at all! We will buy these again if the need arises and I recommend them without a doubt to anyone that is looking for an affordable warmer.

I have two large dog beds that have a heavy canvas cover. I ordered a K&H pet bed warmer & a PetSafe warmer at the same time and put one of each in the pet beds and put the beds next to each other.

The K&H pet bed warmer did a better job of warming through the canvas cover & 1 of my dogs spent quite a bit of time sleeping on that bed (sprawled). The bed with the PetSafe warmer got sporadic use & I had to really lean into the bed to feel the PetSafe's warmth.

If my dog hadn't chewed up the cord, I would have returned the PetSafe & gotten another K&H. I ended up purchasing another K&H.

My little guy (5.5 pounds) has three beds, and this is his favorite by far. He loves to burrow into it, and the internal wire keeps the hood up so he can peek outside. The small size would probably fit two 5 lb dogs, and would be fine for one 10 to 15 pound dog. My house is drafty, and I'm happy that this bed will keep him warm--it's like a sleeping bag with sherpa lining. This product is a little pricey compared to others, but it's worth the cost.

I have a seven year old dachshund with a really bad spinal problem; he's been in very bad paid for about six months now. Dachshunds are notorious burrowers and I had all kinds of blankets and towels and bedding in his dedicated doggie area. His name is Maxx so I call it his "Maxi-Pad." I saw that it was hurting him to burrow in his normal way, so I began looking around for something better for him. First step of actually getting him to go in was solved. For a night or two I noticed he still was reluctant to sleep in it. It dawned on my what I had done when I brough him home when he was just a little puppy and was sleeping in his kennel" he missed my smell! So I took one of my old wear-around-the-house tee shirts and stuffed in toward the back of the Cozy Cave. Next morning I couldn't find him and peeked around the top of the Cozy Cave and saw him sound asleep. He's been sleeping in his Cozy Cave every night since. It does my heart good to see him safe, secure and comfortable. I wonder if he knows how much I love him? If you have a dachshund, I'll bet they will love you too once you get them a Cozy Cave.

I have a small dog, so she has the option of a pee-pee pad or the great outdoors; therefore, she is not 100% bell trained. However, when she does want to go outside, she does know to nose the bells. Wish I had thought of this with my previous dog who scratched at the door with her nails and caused light damage. The only reason I gave it 4 vs 5 stars is because I'd like to see an adjustable loop on the handle so I could adjust the size (if another dog gave the bells a good bat with a paw, it would slide off the door handle).

I wanted to train our new catahoula puppy to ring bells to indicate she wanted to go outside. I made some bells myself out of a leather strip. Ended up costing me more than these and the puppy destroyed the bells within a week. As soon as we put up the poochie bells, it was like a light came on. They are at a perfect height for her, they are sturdy, attractive, and within another week, Lucy was completely house trained. Of course, she does have a tendency to ring the bells ANYTIME she wants to go outside, but that's ok. It's not at all an obnoxious sound. I ordered another set for my bedroom door to make sure I hear her when she starts roaming free at night. Another plus is the looks on people's faces when they see your dog ring the bells.

These bells work exactly as they said. We had a puppy that was having a few accidents. We bought two sets, one for the front and back door of our house. He learned after about 4-5 days to ring the bells. He now rings them on his own to communicate to us that he needs to go potty. I even take a set with us when we go visit at my mother and father and he rings them there too. I would buy this product again and again!
