Look, dying anything in these colors is going to be a bit messy. I used to pay $80 to get my dog dyed every 3 or 4 months. Now I can do it myself at home for a fraction of the cost. It lasts a few months for me if you include the fading time. I go with a bright pink and in the end, it is bubble gum pink. All pretty. My dog is black and white so the white takes and it looks fantastic. I don't follow instructions exactly. I wash in the laundry tub for her regular bath time, MASSAGE (happy dog) the dye on (I wear disposable latex gloves), leave for 5 mins while she sits quietly in warm garage/tub, rinse and MASSAGE IN a leave-in conditioner. Best tip I can give you to make it easier on the dog give treats off and on through out the process. Just little bits of something to make it worth their while. Everyone loves seeing her, grumpy people brighten up, she's in photo albums all over the world. I did it once on a lark but she is such an ambassador for happiness with the color that I have continued for years now. I forget what she looks like w/o color. If the process isn't fun for you, the dog will pick up on that and it won't be fun for anyone. Make it fun or skip it. Of course the dog shouldn't suffer. So for clean up, what's the big deal? It's clean up, did you expect not to? I use bleach (after the dog is out of the area (don't want her to breathe fumes) or a scrubbing cleaner with bleach. It comes out fine. Sometimes I even do it in my marble shower again, a little scrubbing (not bleach) and it comes out fine. Anyway, love the product and will continue to buy it. If you hate the process, groomers will do it for you. If you want less permanent, use the easter egg dye (food grade, non toxic) and it will wash out in the first or second washing. Or skip it completely and go for a walk.

I bought this to use on my black and white chihuahuaThe color is really bright and thats what I was going for.
I was able to dye her fairly easily, it was kind of hard to do on her faceI was dying all of her white fur and around her nose and mouth is whiteShe kept trying to lick it off, so I rinse it out faster than the rest of her but still the color is pretty good
I added a picture of her pink
I think she looks adorable :)
The color lasts quite awhile also, about 2 months or so, slowly fades with each wash
Also the jar lasts quite awhile as well.
I have been able to dye her white fur at least 2 dozen times (she is small and not too much white and you can see in the pictures)

This was my first time coloring my cockapoo and I didn't leave the color on long enough, which was only 15 minutes. Certainly not long enough to get anything close to the color on the jar. So, I had to do it a second time, which my little guy did not appreciate at all. The second time I left in on for 45 minuts and really made sure I had the hair saturated. And Voila!!! It was a perfect turqoise!!! I was coloring just his mohawk, so I put the dye on his dry hair and washed him afterwards. A little trick to minimize the bleeding of the color put conditioner on the parts you don't want color on that helps minimize the color bleeding when you wash it all off.Happy coloring!!
Honest reviews on Dog Hair Dye Gel
I'm really surprised this didn't work out for more people, because this worked out famously for me and the dog. My boyfriend has a white West Highland Terrier, and I wanted to dye her hair in a flame style. I had read the reviews before purchasing, so I knew what to expect and how to prepare for it. I covered the base of her tail with tin foil and then dyed the end of her tail yellow (with gloves of course). Then I covered the dyed portion with tinfoil so it could sit on there without getting on stuff and the dog could still walk around and go potty, and left it on for about 30ish minutes. I then took her outside and just hosed off her tail. I dried it off, and pretty much repeated the process and dyed the very tips of her tail orange and wrapped it up in tinfoil again. I was really surprised how easy this was to use and the colors turned out great and even though the containers were smaller than I thought they would be, a little goes a long way! I uploaded a picture to amazon's "customer photos" so check it out!!!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dog Hair Dye Gel
I bought this to dye my Shih Tzu. Works great on the white areas but fades out quickly. Also very very messy and dyes your tub. I had to use straight bleach to remove it from the tub surface.
