The one downside to this harness, for my dog in particular, is the fact that the way the harness is designed, the seat belt strap comes down his back and over his hips in a upside down 'V' shape, and when he's clipped in to the car it keeps his hips in a "fixed", upright and uncomfortable position for him. He unfortunately can not use this harness because it just causes him too much pain in his arthritic hips. This is no fault of the harness, in a younger dog that doesn't hurt it would be perfect because it *does* keep them straight forward, upright and close to the seat. In the case of an accident, the dog would stay in the seat and not be flung all over the vehicle.
I'm so sad I can't use this for my dog because it is so well designed and safe. I highly recommend this for any dog that does not have lower back problems or arthritic hips.

Nice sturdy harness but the strap to connet to the seatbelt is short will need an extension.Best Deals for Snoozer Pet Safety Harness Without Adapter, X-Small
I purchased the first two based on their size recommendations and then returned them cause I couldn't even begin to get my little dogs in them. Next size up worked. But it is really lacking a connection for a leash so you have to hook the harness up by the seatbelt connector. Not good as it gets under the dogs tail. Well, probably not good for them. But works in the car.Honest reviews on Snoozer Pet Safety Harness Without Adapter, X-Small
Bought this after trying others. It may not be as comfortable as others but if you think about it the first few times you wore a seat belt it was uncomfortable. The only complaint I have is in the beginning the straps over shoulders and her hips straps came loose all the time. The straps in the buckle come loose easily. Other people have mentioned this. So I wasn't surprised. I had to tie knots and cut straps to make it secure. When you cut the straps you must burn the ends or they will unravel. Yes, it was work but now I'm happy with the results. We bought a doggie seat for her [she's only 10 LB.] so she could see out the window. Of course, the buckle attachment to the seat belt didn't work together [so I had to make adjustments on that too] but she was very secure when I was done and thank God. My husband had to make an abrupt stop and she flew forward but the belt stopped her flying out of the seat. I'm not saying it's perfect. There was a time she managed to fall out of the seat on the right side and was hanging backwards but she wasn't hurt and I just put her back in the seat. I need to shorten the strap attached the the seat buckle maybe 1 or 2 inches to avoid that from happening again. She doesn't seem to mind the belt at all. She can stand, lay down, on the right or left or prop her elbow on the edge of the seat while enjoying the ride. She gets excited when I put it on her she knows it means a car ride. With a little work I think this is the best belt yet.
