I bought this for our dog, since we have this cat, who when she gets mad at him, will pee on his bed. Once cat urine gets into the padding, it's impossible to get out, and I have had to throw away several beds. This bed does appear to be waterproof (I tested it with the hose). My only complaint is the "texture" of the material on the outside. Dog hair sticks in it like crazy. Our dog seems to like it, but he sheds white hair, and before long, the bed looks a mess. I have tried a high-power vacuum; using sticky pet rollers; lint pickups; ... etc. And nothing works! I just can't get all the hair out. So don't expect it to look nice for long. I have a terrible time trying to de-hair the cover and it's too much work for me, so I think I'll try another waterproof-type bed the next time.
