These boots keep my dog's feet from freezing due to salt on the sidewalks. The velcro straps keep them securely on her feet. I can see how they might wear out if the dog is constantly walking on concrete, but I bought them mostly for snow.

The shoes are of excellent quality. With a zipper and velcro straps, the dogs can't get them off. The rubber sole makes it all-weather. HOWEVER, the design of the boot is poorly thought out. A dog cannot lay his paw flat when in this shoe. If your dog is not putting weight on his foot when you are putting on this shoe, it is impossible to put on properly. They may work if your dog is very comfortable with having his/her feet handled, but even then it is a gamble.

So, they have a zipper and these velcro straps you wind up the dogs boot once you have it on...except they slide down CONSTANTLY and it takes forever (a lot fo sweating and cursing and dog chasing) to get them on, just for them to slide down.

Before I even put them on my dog's feet , the zippers were very hard to open two of the zipper pulls came off. But otherwise they are fine. A little hard to keep the leg hair out of the zipper but the neoprene tongue helps.
