I got this product after much thought and research for my 7 year old European Burmese who tends to be restless and anxiety prone. In the past he has also had problems with aggression toward another cat in my home and spraying.

He has been on 5 mg of Prozac for the past 3 years and each time I have tried to wean him off the Prozac his noisy, restless behavior comes back within a week or two.

I am a veterinary nurse at a feline exclusive hospital and our veterinarians are recommending these NurtureCALM Pheromone Collars for cats with anxiety and behavior issues. The feedback so far has been very encouraging. It is my hope that with the help of the NurtureCALM collar my cat will be able to be weaned off Prozac.

There are several things that I don't like about the collar. It is made of a very stiff plastic like material that tends to crack and break easily. In fact the collar that I purchased was cracked in several places and the buckle was about to break off.

I ended up having to return the collar for a replacement. This was discouraging considering the high cost of the collar. The other big problem with the collar is that it is covered with a messy, flaky white substance. Apparently this is what "holds" the pheromone.

I was very concerned that it would have an unpleasant odor but it does not. The flaky white stuff is messy but I am hoping that in time it will be less so. Also, keep in mind that the collars only last about 60 days.

My cat has worn the calming collar now for about 4 weeks and I can see that it has made a huge difference in his restless behavior without making him dull. I am now giving him his Prozac every other day and he is doing well.

The flaky white stuff quickly dissapated, so it ended up not being a problem. I will continue to purchase this product and very much recommend it to cat owners who are experiencing behavior issues.

Bart is about 12 years old now and has had inappropriate peeing issues for most of his life. We have had endless tests at the vet and the general opinion is that it is behavioral. Two years ago I finally put him on prozac because I just couldn't take it anymore. I also adopted a few other strategies such as confining him to the upstairs of our house (instead of allowing him to roam the entire house), locking him in cage when I go out for prolonged periods and using pherome sprays. Adopting the multiple responses has for the most part worked. Instead of cleaning up 2 or 3 pee's a day I now may see one a week. But I decided to use the collar as an adjunctive to all the other stuff to see if we could achieve even better results. And we have. He has stopped peeing everywhere and is using his box regularly. The pherome's on the collar seem to keep him incredibly calm. Are there drawbacks? Yes. It's costly -each collar only last about 1 month so you have to replace it regularly and it isn't cheap. But for me -not having to worry about whether or not I am going to have to go on another pee hunt is worth it. Also the collar is plastic and not very pliant. But I expect this has to do with how the pheromes are deployed. The white chalky substance is a bit overwhelming when you get the collar out of the packaging but it disappears very quickly. I would recommend this product to anyone in my boat. That said I am not to sure (after reading all of the reviews) that it is appropriate for all behavioral problems.

I have 6 cats with the 6th being a new arrival that my daughter brought to me that was very undernourished and homeless. When the last kitty came all you know what broke loose and I was having spraying and inappropriate urination issues along with fighting going on. I have the new arrival seperate from the other most of the time but I am trying to slowly get everyone to get along. I got the spraying and urine areas all cleaned up but there is still a lot of friction in the house among the cats along with my anxiety dealing with it all. Anyway I ordered 4 of these collars. Two of them are for the major offenders of fighting and the other two are for two of the cats that are really stressed about everything. I put the collars on the major offenders first and noticed a big difference in the level of stress amoung the cats. A day later I put the collars on the remaining two cats and within three days the stress level has really gone down. There is a little checking each other out going on but I think they are used to the fighting that was going on so I feel that will subside as time goes on.

I am very impressed with the collar. I have used the feliway spray and diffuser and neither has helped to this level. I will be purchasing this item again when the effect wears off and will probably just get two for the major offenders as the stress situation with the others will have died down by then. I would recommend this to anyone having problems with their cat dealing with stressful situations. Now they just need to make a collar like this for us humans:}

Honest reviews on NurtureCALM 24/7 Feline Calming Pheromone Collar (Upto 15" Neck)

I used the calming collars in tandem with some calming drops for a cross-country move. I would say the calming drops worked more effectively than the collars. Based on other reviews of this item prior to purchase, I knew that the collars may or may not work on my cats. I would say that the collars did a good job but would not recommend them on their own (if moving or in a car for an extended period of time). If you're looking for a significant difference in your cats demeanor, I would not go this route.

I was also surprised by the collars themselves. It appeared that the white substance on them was the calming pheremone. I was expecting a fabric collar that was sturdier.

Side note: don't use these as the cats' main collars they break pretty easily. I put these on my cats with their regular collars still on had to grab one who tried to make a run from the car and the calming collar broke. Just an FYI.

We tried both this collar and the Sentry pheromone collar. The Sentry collar had an overwhelming, horrible perfumey "lavender-chamomile" fragrance that we couldn't stand (and we weren't sure how our cat felt about it either).

This collar seems to work well and has minimal-to-no odor --our cats have been much more friendly to each other, grooming and sleeping together, since we put the collars on them.

One note --the actual product title is nurtureCALM not NatureCalm. Anyhow, buy this one, not the Sentry! Also worlds more effective than the Feliway diffusers.
