We are caring for a ferrel cat who refuses to come in the house so when it gets very cold we worry about where she witll be. We bought a cloth "dog house" and put the heating pad in it on our screened porch, where our little girl spends most of her time during the winter. We are extremely happy with our purchase and our ferrel loves it.

I was going to use folded towel, but when I called the mfg'er, I was told to NOT use anything other than this cover, as it is specially designed to not hold in the heat (the fabric has a loose weave) which will damage the pad.

It's an OK cover, probably will fall apart if you wash it too many times, though.

Second pad cover I have purchased. Good quality and fits good over the hard plastic heating pad. I placed the heating pad and this cover in a Kitty Cube I purchased at Wal-Mart. Fits perfectly. I make small slit for power cord to go through. For extra protection enclose the Kitty Cube in a carbord box with a rag covering enterance. Your cats will stay warm!

The cover has to be ON when the heater is installd (for me, that meant screwed into the wood that is the floor of the rabbit cage). You cannot t the cover on AFTER the pad is screwed down.) It is a fibrous kind of material, and the screws got caught up in the cover a bit. Not terrible, but annoing. Maybe a litle grommet could be pressed into the 4 corners of the cover to match up with the 4 holes in the pad.
