I have a 10 month old purebred Bichon Frise. Only one of her eyes waters a little. The watering began when she was teething and loosing her baby teeth. Any watering on a pure white dog will stain no matter how much you clean it.

I gave the lowest recommended dose to her on top of her food. Her appetite did not change. (However, the powder does get in her hairwhich Bichons have a lot of, so I will sprinkle a little water on top to make it stick to the food better.)After 2 months and 2 monthly hair trims (which is a must for Bichons), my babies eyes are BOTH white now. I am starting to give this to her every other day and try to wean her off of it. So far, the stains have not come back.

BEFORE giving this to your dog I would recommend the following: #1Check their diet for dyes, beets, or by-products. My dog eats only Innova Puppy Food, so there are no dyes, beets, or by-products causing the staining. #2Check for stray hairsMy baby has the hair trimmed back from her eyes, so the watering is not irritation. #3Use only Stainless Steel Bowlsothers could have dyes in the plastics.

Although cost was never a real issue, I almost choked when I saw the price of Angel's Eyes. And the shock was compounded by knowing it wasn't a permanent solution but something my white minature poodle OLIVER would always have to take if I wanted bright, clean & clear eyes. I thought long and hard before buying that first tiny $32. bottle at the pet store. It only contained about 2 weeks of treatments, but none of the topical products had worked. Name it, I'd tried it.... I changed to a food without beets, cranberries, or blueberries. I only gave him bottled water as recommended by another poodle owner. I washed his face morning and night and kept applying products that promised to make his eyes diamond clear. The stain was so dark and permanent it certainly looked as if his eyes were bleeding down each side of his nose.

I can't say enough about this wonderful product and buy it in the largest possible size so I'm never without. Oliver is down to 3 times a week and it keeps that nasty red yeast away. It only took a few days to see the new growth around his eyes and by the end of the first week, I was able to carefully clip most of the stain away. It's been 2 months and Oliver's eyes sparkle. It's processed in a powdered liver base so there was very little problem getting him to accept it. I think I mixed a little grated cheese in the first week but he doesn't hesitate anymore, and he only eats dry food.

Great product and great company.

I don't usually take the time to write a review on products but I had to write one for Angels Eyes. I have a 7lb Shih Tzu w/ all white fur around his face and this product has worked wonders.

We got him at 12 weeks and the staining was really bad. I did not start using this product until he was 9 months old because I thought maybe he was just teething and it was causing the staining. I used Angels Eyes for 2-3 weeks before I actually saw a difference. I was happy that it worked but disappointed that there was still some staining. I have now used it for 2 months and the red staining is gone completely (after cutting the old fur away). He still tears when he's running around playing and his whiskers and fur is wet around the nose and mouth but there is no red color. He also has no problem eating the Angels Eyes if it's mixed in w/ some canned food.

Honest reviews on Angels' Eyes Tear-Stain Eliminator for Dogs and Cats

Angels Eyes did not help the tear stains on my Maltese. When I got him at four months old, he had a little bit of staining, but nothing terrible. Once he started teething about a month later, it got really bad. I spent $60 on the Angel eyes because the reviews on here were good, and the breeder recommended it as well. I followed the instructions verbatim for three months, and nothing happened. It was a total waste of money, and I found out a secret from my groomer who agreed Angel Eyes is garbage. Dilute Hydrogen Peroxide with water, and rub it with a cotton ball on the tear stains. Then put a little vasoline on the spot so the tears roll off the fur, and do not settle in. I do it once in the morning and once at night, and his tear stains are completely gone. It also helps to keep the hair by the eyes short and clean. BOTTOM LINE, this product is not healthy to use long term(according to my dog's vet) and there are other more cost-effective alternatives available (the bottle of Peroxide was 75 cents at the drugstore!).

I read the reviews and ordered this product for my two Bichons. They weren't wild about the taste, but I got them to eat it and it did work. Within a week the tear staining was much diminished, and after two weeks was gone entirely. But then I noticed both dogs were developing diarhea. and seemed "off" eating grass, throwing up, not eating as well, etc. More research and I discovered that this product contains Tylosin, which is actually a low grade antibiotic. NOT GOOD! Had I known that I was feeding an antibiotic on a daily basis, I NEVER would have purchased this product and I certainly would not have purchased the large size for continued usage. I have since found out that in many cases, you can feed 1/2 of a Tums (500 mg calcium carbonate) twice daily or add 1 teaspoon vinegar to their water. I tried the vinegar and they wouldn't drink, so now I am using the Tums, with eqaully good results. I would caution anyone with the tear staining problem to talk to their vet and treat this product with caution. I give it one star because it contains an antibiotic which is not explained the average layman would not know what Tylosin is.

It was white a bit smaller than anticipated. Other than that, I thought it was just fine. The next time I buy my (slightly smaller) dog a bunny costume I would consider this one.

It was a really cute costume. Looks just like the picture. Although you do get only what you pay for. The material is really thin, and the ears are floppy so you have to stuff wire in them. I am using it on my 60 lbs Pitt/Mastiff mix and it just barely fits him. Considering this is an extra large, i wouldn't use it on a dog over medium size. But it is awefully cute.

The costume doesn't showcase the tiny padded bra which adds to the humor. The ears are a little floppy, but can make a great photo. A large fit my 40lb puggle perfectly

This is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. I ordered a blue hoodie also that doesn't have the lining and this brown one seems to be made much bigger. I also love the velcro feature (which I definitely missed when reading the description) and it will work great to be able to get my pitty's big head through the opening!!

UPDATE: This didn't fit my baby boy. I was able to get one leg in it and didn't want to attempt the other. I have contacted Amazon to see about getting an x-large for both hoodies. I think the x-large will be too long. If it is, then I think I can handle that rather than not being able to get it on him at all.

UPDATE 2: This is why I love Amazon. They fixed the whole issue by letting me return (at their cost) for a refund. Then told me to reorder the sizes I needed and they credited me back the shipping for that also. Amazon has fixed this WHOLE issue and I am absolutely pleased. I will update one more time once I receive the hoodies and let the other pitty parents out there know how the x-large fits :) DOUBLE TWO THUMBS UP TO AMAZON!!!

Petmate 21647 Pet Porter Fashion Dog Crate, Giant, Dark Gray
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

We got this crate for our 80lb German Shepherd. We thought we could get a large but decided on the GIANT size since this him enough room to lay on his side and also turn around. Build quality is very good and can be put together in under 20 minutes. This crate is airline approved and has a steel door which a dog cannot open easily or squeeze through (like with those wire crates). Makes your dog feel a little more secure as well. Very happy with purchase but it took a week for us to get it even though we got free shipping with prime.

This is a great kennel which is well made. However, please note that the back of the kennel is not ventilated. If you have a short-nosed dog the airline will likely require that you drill holes in the back for ventilation.

Best Deals for Petmate 21647 Pet Porter Fashion Dog Crate, Giant, Dark Gray

I needed to know how much this weighed and one listing stated it was 48.8 Lbs I'm not very trusting of website descriptions so I weighed myself and then held the kennel (not easy) and the difference was 43.7. Also to make this airline approved you need to buy metal nuts for the bolts instead of the plastic ones that come with it. You might also need to drill holes in the rear. This is plenty big for my 95 Lb lab mix. He fit in an XL but I wanted him to be more comfortable on our flight to England. Don't forget to buy the water and food dishes along with the live animal stickers that you need for traveling.

Honest reviews on Petmate 21647 Pet Porter Fashion Dog Crate, Giant, Dark Gray

My puppy outgrew a Grreat Choice 28" crate he shipped in from the breeder. That crate is really 24" deep inside. He's too small for this Giant crate now so I filled some of it with a Rubbermaid Roughneck bin. My dog is expected to grow to 27" at the whithers with fairly square overall proportions. I was reluctant to get such a large crate because Petmate suggests this size is appropriate for Great Danes, Saint Bernards, and Bull Mastiffs. My dog will not be that big rather just slightly exceed the standard for a German Shepherd. Petmate's label also suggests this crate is for dogs 34" to the top of the head. Well, Great Dane dogs need to be 30" at the whithers so they would be ducking to get in there. This would be a suitable to transport a giant dog for a short time but it's too small for regular use with a dog 30" or more at the shoulders. If your dog is going to be 26"-28" at the whithers, it's probably the right size for regular use.

Because my dog is not a Great Dane, I wondered at first if I shouldn't get a 40-42" crate instead but I read some people's comments that those crates were a little cramped for their dogs of a similar size to what I expect mine to grow to. Since my dog has already learned not to soil his crate in the smaller one and this will be his crate for maturity, I don't regret possibly erring on the larger size.

These plastic dog crates, when they're the appropriate size, are great for housebreaking a puppy. By "housebreaking" I mean not only training them to soil outside only but also to keep them out of the trouble they would get into if they had free run of the house, and to teach them calmness and a lower level of activity is expected indoors. It gives them a safe, private space that is free of stress when they need to eat or rest. Combined with an expen and/or puppy gates, it can help a puppy become a house dog.

This one is obviously not a puppy crate for most dogs but for people with large dogs it provides them a good indoor dog house or "den." It also provides some of the means necessary for safe transportation by car or airplane (although I haven't tried to fly with a crate this big and I'm not familiar with possible restrictions, I am sure this crate is designed to meet airline specifications with some modifications that may include drilling vent holes on the back, drilling tie down holes on the corners, possibly replacing the plastic nuts with metal ones for certain airlines, and of course providing live animal stickers, as well as food and water dishes.)

The other options out there are the wire dog crates and the extruded and sheet aluminum or steel crates. The wire crates have their drawbacks -they let dog mess (fur, dirt, soil etc) out more easily, the dog can pull stuff into the crate more easily (nearby household items), dogs can get parts caught between the wires more easily, they're noisier and less private, and they have a reputation for being more easily escaped (no personal experience with that). Only the crates made with extruded and sheet metals are really "escape proof" because there is no plastic to chew through and no wire to bend out of shape and the latch mechanisms are robust. They're quite expensive though(we're talking four to ten times more expensive than this one).

I'm getting ready to buy a second one of these crates for my truck. I certainly don't want to move the one in and out of the house all the time. These things are huge and quite heavy. The weight and bulk combine to make these things difficult to handle for one person. I'm hestitating again because this thing is really going to fill a lot of my eight foot truck bed. I looked at 40-42" crates again because my dog might be comfortable enough in that size for the shorter durations of travel and it would save some space for bicycles, the bike trailer, luggage, camping equipment, ice chests, bins, and boxes of other stuff we're always taking along (We sure could use a bus!)

Amazon was competitive on this crate with the two big pet warehouse stores when shipping and taxes are factored in. The warehouse store in my town actually has the crate in stock but at a price 25% higher than their online price with shipping. I guess they want a premium for stocking these huge items at their retail outlets.

Amazon shipped the crate in a single wall box in which it scarcely fit with no further packaging. The box had popped open by the time it arrived. The crate itself is fairly durable and there was no apparent damage.

The crate is built very much like the smaller Petmate plastic crates -it's a plastic clamshell with a wire door. Compared to smaller crates, the plastic is thicker and the four-point rotating latch on the door is unique although it's available on large and extra large crates also. The door is not a precision fit. The wire axis pivots in a well-hole molded in the plastic. Because the opening is so large, there is a platic lip that supports the door when it is in the closed position (otherwise it would hang loose because the door frame is not rigid enough). The latch mechanism suffers a little from the sloppiness in the door's fit. One has to make sure all four wire pins are aligned with their holes before the door can be fully latched. Opening is straightforward though.

This crate is dark inside -and my dog is all black. He doesn't mind it and may actually like it that way but it sure is hard to see him in there. My wife said one time she was talking to his backside without even realizing it! A guess a wire crate would let more light in but that's not always preferable. The dog sees the bright room outside his crate just fine, so it's really more about how well we see him.

Considering the cost of these crates which includes a considerable amount just to ship these huge things around on trucks, I think they're quite cost-effective. Only the wire crates compare in this price range and for both my truck and home they would need some kind of pad to sit on and a non-chewable cover to keep the wind, noise and extraneous stimuli out.

I rate these well worth consideration because plastic crates may be the most cost-effective and best solution for many people and their dogs, and these are some of the best plastic crates available. With that said, some people may prefer wire crates for their specific needs, and others will either be willing or have no choice but to pay up for the aluminum/stainless steel crates. This plastic crate as well as wire crates could easily be destroyed by a powerful 100 pound dog that is determined enough -and yet some dogs will respect even a soft-sided collapsible nylon fabric crate.

Update: I bought a Sky Kennel Ultra Extra Large crate for the truck. Petmate told me that 4 years ago they made a change and the Sky Kennel and Vari Kennel are now the same thing except that most retailers order the Sky Kennel with live animal stickers and food and water dishes. A lot of retailers also order rotating latches for Large and Extra Large Sky Kennels, but standard pinch latches for the Vari-Kennel line. Both are available from Petmate to the retailers. The Giant comes standard with a rotating latch.

I have personally seen the Giant Vari Kennel and this Giant Pet Porter. The only difference is the color. The Sky Kennel version is also identical but may possibly have holes drilled in the back and it would usually come with food and water dishes. The provided dishes are worthless except for meeting regulations.

There are some things I prefer about the Sky Kennel Extra Large crate I have compared to the Giant. There are two feet molded into bottom of the floor to support the floor. The roof has corrugation molded into it to provide some stiffness whereas the Giant versions roof is flat and rather simply thick enough to be rigid. The Extra Large has side grates that slide in between plastic lips whereas the Giant's side grates are held by clips riveted onto the plastic. The door latch works smoother on the Extra Large. It has joints on the wire pins that maintain better alignment with the holes throughout the rotation of the knob. On the Extra Large, I just close the door and turn the knob and the pins go in the holes every time. With the Giant I have to make sure all four pins align with the holes before I can finish rotating the knob all the way otherwise the pins sometimes hit the plastic even though the holes are elongated (it's sloppy).

The side rails on the Extra Large have a lip that is molded over the edge whereas on the Giant the plastic comes together in a simple flat sandwich. The Extra Large has molded in tie-down holes on all four corners whereas on the Giant you would have to drill your own (I use the Giant in the house so I don't have to tie it down).

The Giant is quite a bit larger than the Extra Large. It's a bigger difference than the numbers make it appear tob e. It's also about double the weight. I would not want to move the Giant crate around. It's a beast. But the Extra Large is no more difficult to move in and out of the truck than a large ice chest.

Overall, the Extra Large has a better design in features and I'm happier with it but obviously those design features don't work when you size up to the Giant scale. If you only need the Extra Large size, it's a nicer crate at a much lower price (I got it for $100 less than the Giant) but if you need the Giant, this Pet Porter Giant is essentially equivalent to the Vari Kennel Giant and the Sky Kennel Giant -they're all made the same way.

I now expect my dog to finish out at 27" and 75 lbs. Because of his size (not weight) I am sure he will appreciate the Giant crate as his place to sleep and eat daily. For travel and occasional use, the Extra Large is the right size for him.

We looked around for a dog crate for our champion german shepherd who has always liked an enclosed crate rather then an all open wire one. He likes the 'den' environment and required a crate that was at least 34 inches high and we searched high and low and selected the Amazon Petmate 21647 'Pet Porter'. We wanted a high quality heavy duty locking door for our dog as he can be a 'handful' when he decides he has had enough 'crate time'. The Pet Porter Giant is a full 35" high and 48" long so he can stretch, sit up and stand on all fours with no issues. Interestingly enough, he has NOT in the last week since we put him in this crate, made any attempts to get our attention by clawing at the door, he loves it! The only issue is that there are no vent's on the back of the crate, so if you were to use for a flight, you may get rejected and or your dog may not enjoy the experience. To make the Amazon experience even better we used the PRIME shipping and received the crate in 1 DAY for an additional $3.99. No one could touch this price and as always. Amazon stands behind their products. Great definition of the crate and better then fast delivery.

Guardian Gear 2-Way Coupler - Black Review

Guardian Gear Nylon 2-Way Medium Dog Coupler with Nickel Plated Swivel Clip, 12-Inch, Black
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
My dogs are a 45-lb boxer mix and a 35-lb mystery mix. They're both medium-sized, with the heavier one being 3-4" taller. The coupler arrived unexpectedly fast; a day before the delivery estimate in fact! So we gave it a test run. I wasn't sure if the 24" length on each side would be too long, but it was great...the longer length allows you to keep the leashes above the dogs' heads which prevents tangling. No stopping to lift up front legs because of leashes caught underneath. And not once did I do a spin to get unwrapped from a leash around my waist or a high step over one around my leg! The dogs were far enough apart so that one couldn't yank the other around, which is something I encountered years ago when I tried out a much shorter coupler. I also felt more in control; my dogs walk pretty well on leash but every so often a dog or squirrel will grab their attention and they will forget their manners and pull. That didn't happen today, but I can tell that correcting them will be a lot easier with the coupler and a single leash rather than trying to correct two excited dogs on two separate leashes. As I was researching couplers, I noticed others saying they could be too heavy for smaller dogs. I don't think that would be the case with this one because it's very light. It's definitely worth a shot if you're on the fence, and I recommend going for a longer length instead of shorter if you're unsure about what size to get. It's awesome to get a well-made, useful product for under 8 bucks, with super fast free shipping besides. Five stars!

Walking my two dogs used to be an enjoyable affair for all. Then we got a puppy, and walks became a comedic disaster that always ended with me being hog tied or in some other compromising position. This 4 inch two way couple allows me to walk my two older dogs (12 & 16 lbs) on one lead and the puppy on a separate lead. This works out nicely. I ordered a three way coupler, and I'm going to start conditioning the puppy to walk with it, too.

A few notes:

1. The picture of the 4 inch coupler is slightly misleading. It looks like the two straps are sewn together, but really they are just rubber banded together for packaging, and the coupler is designed like the other pictures where the straps are just sewn to the ring. I actually am happy about this because it is a better design.

2. You want to select the shortest coupler that will allow you to link your dogs together and squat for potty, no longer. Being right close to each other minimizes the tangles and "every which way" factor. I also think being close up on eachother mentally puts them into "business mode" rather than "stroll" mode. The 4 inch coupler is great for similiarily sized dogs. I ordered the three way 12 inch couple becuase my third dog is bigger than the rest. I can't imagine every wanting a 24 inch coupler. Furthermore, these couplers work best with a short leash that keeps your dogs right by your side.

3. There is a learning curve where your dogs have to learn to walk togethera few walks. Imagine being tethered to your sibling when you were little. You'd need to work out how to walk together. Same with the dogs. I recommend starting with a short stint on the coupler after a long walk so that the dogs are not wound up and have gotten all their potties out. It shouldn't take many times to get the hang of it.

Best Deals for Guardian Gear 2-Way Coupler - Black

I purchased a different coupler before this one, and I must say this one is a much better design. I like how the two leashes are permanent to the o-ring. The other coupler I purchased had an adjustable clip, and the clip would always slip making one side longer than the other so one dog had 3 feet and the other only a few inches. This works great for two very different size dogs. I use it for my 50# Chow Chow and my 25# Dachshund, and I attach it to a retractable leash. It worked greatno tangles and the leash held them both no problem. It seems to be well made. Great purchasevery happy.

Honest reviews on Guardian Gear 2-Way Coupler - Black

Great quality and good heavy duty clips but not too heavy for my 20 lbs dogs. One love to pull, the other is a gentlemen: With being able to use just one leash, I was able to control his side of the coupler with one hand so he had to was alongside and not out in front. Although it is said there should only be enough room for one dog of the same size between the two dogs on the coupler, the longer length gave my gentlemen the ability to get around the bully easily and take his own walk, while the other had to mind his manners. Definitely happy with the purchase and the quality.

Works as promised. Very heavy duty. Doesn't appear to be heavy duty. The straps are not the size of car safety belts and the buckles are not the size of vehicle toe clips, but this is a VERY heavy duty item that will last and will hold any breed dog. Strong enough for bigger breeds and small enough for the little ones. Clip one leash and able to control (or try to control) two dogs at once. I have two shepherds, so I try. Mostly they just trot along together and it is long enough to give each dog their distance. Great product.

I brought home a Siberian Husky puppy today and stopped at Pensacola Harley-Davidson to get him a few Harley toys. I wanted a good orthopedic mattress for his joints and I got it!!! The Xlarge is huge!!!! It's as long as my dresser in my bed room. He has plenty of room to roll around and change positions, plus room for me to cuddle! :-) the mattress is firm but soft, seems like it will hold up really well. I have an old hound dog that can smell any wildlife around (I live in rural Maine). His nose takes over and he'll lunge to follow the scent. He is strong enough to yank my arm, requiring me to dig my heels in and pull to keep him from taking off to follow the scent of a deer? moose? bear? or even a tiny chipmunk. This leash stretches, and when he pulls too hard, gently pulls him back with no effort on my part. Walking him now is pure pleasure instead of a battle of strength! I wish I'd known about it sooner, would highly recommend it, and will be taking it my vet to show him, so others can hear about it. Love it!!
