I only give it 4 stars because it takes a while for the dogs to get used to the texture of the cover on the bed. It's not fabric, and they find it a bit strange to get on it because the cover doesn't compress like a fabric cover would, it holds air (a bit) and is, as compared to fabric, kind of loud. But once they get used to it, they like it and use it. It seems to be very liquid resistant, and seems to be pretty durable (so far).

The bed is not a cushy/supportive as I'd like. I have a great dane puppy so it's fine for this stage in his life (he's 5 1/2 months and 75lbs) but he'll need something with more thickness as he gains more weight. It is GREAT for outdoors as it is totally waterproof which can be hard to find. If you have a dog that's between 50-75lbs, this will be perfect for you.

My young basset boy loves to lie on the front porch and watch the neighborhood happenings. I was looking for a weatherproof mat that was reasonably priced, and this was both. As others said, the crackly texture and sound might not appeal to some dogs, but my Barnaby doesn't seem to mind. I put a large beach towel on top of it, and he has used it from day 1!

I like the clean look, the color and pattern of this dog bed, and I have had many that I find not so good. The only thing is the crinkling sound, which others have mentioned, however, the doggies and the cat found it fine right after they stepped on it and realized that it was just maybe a unfamiliar sound.

My little dogs didn't have a problem getting used to the crinkly fabric and the puffiness of the air trapped inside and I was really pleased with the bed until I washed the cover. The waterproof material on the inside all just kind of cracked and flaked off everywhere (I didn't put it in the dryer, just the washer on cold and then air dried). Then my Chihuahuas figured out how to unzip the bed and pull the stuffing out allll over the place.
