Works well enough. My issue is that it has a push-button for turning it on and off. This means no rolling it up around the unit, as you could accidentally turn it on while handling it!

The ScatMat brand can handle items put on top of the mat without the battery quickly draining itself as the PetMetro model did. Although I admit to not reading the directions to the PetMetro model, I guess I assumed that it would function in the same way that the ScatMat brand does.

If you need to keep a pet out of an area or off a piece of furniture, this works! Our cat was leaving us "presents" in the basement when we went out. After replacing 2 sofas and 2 area rugs we were desperate it was this or get rid of the cat. The hallway to the rec room was narrow enough that she had to step on the mat to get into the room. She got a small shock the first time, tested it once more (gingerly) and never attempted entering the room again. We have ordered more to leave on sofas as well. My kids friends (teens) think it is hilarious to trick one another into stepping on it so it can't be too painful...? Anyways, for pets, it works, teens, not so much!
