My 17 pound West highland Terrier has this sweater in a size Medium.

I have not bothered to use the leg bands and the fit is nice. A bit of a pain to get her front legs in,

but than this is my first sweater that has leg cuffs.

To help you with the sizing: My westie measures: Neck 11",Girth 17.5" and length 14.5" The medium fit well on my Westie

and possibly the s/m would have worked also. Mine was not bought on Amazon. The manufacturer is the East side Collection

Be aware different manufactures or where it was made might fit differently

My dog is small-medium in coat/sweater size but after reading the other reviewer's comment, I ordered the size medium. He comment is correct regarding the length of the sweater. The item is supposed to be 16" in length. My dog is 14" from base of neck to the base of his tail and the end of the sweater stops about 1' short of his tail. Glad I got the medium. the sweater is well made, fits perfectly and is very colorful he's cream colored and those colors look great on him. If you do buy this sweat go up to the next size and you'll be fine.

Bought three of these sweaters for our shih-tzus and they are darling! I was unsure of the sizing so to be on the safe side, I ordered medium. The sweaters run on the large side so they were quite long on the dogs. I ended up using my sewing machine and hemming the knitted items so that the back of the sweater stopped right before the dog's tail. All three pups wore their sweaters during the winter I would toss the sweaters into the washer & dryer on a weekly basis and they maintained their color and shape. Great (and colorful) item for the price!

This is a nice quality sweater, very well made. My dog is 16 inches from neck to tail and I ordered a medium, fits splendidly. Recommend.
