Over the last year, since my elderly Golden Retriever developed kidney problems, I have tried a number of different sizes and brands of "puppy training pads," with varied success. This is the brand that I prefer now. They are reasonably priced and excellent quality. If you have a big dog that is home all day, the king-sized ones have a much-needed capacity that a lot of the puppy pads are lacking.
If you haven't used any pads like this before and need to begin, you might want to start with this brand. I have used several of their products and the cost is less than average with great quality.

I purchased these "Out" XL puppy pads and another brand both at the same time. The difference in quality is like day and night! Do yourself a favor, and purchase something that is a little higher quality. The other brand i bought was the Four Paws, Wee Wee XL puppy pads and they are amazing! The biggest thing i noticed was how much better the wee wee XL pads were at controlling odors. This "out" brand doesn't hold any odors, as soon as a dog pees on the pad the smell will remain until you throw the pad out. The wee wee's are sooo much better in this regard.

These are the best pads ever and the only ones large enough and thick enough for 2 dogs! I highly recommend them to anyone with little dogs that need these for night time and bad weather!

Apparently my yorkie gets it about using these for his business. That's what counts most, keeping him from exploring the variety of other options. Outside of that, they pickup easily and as far as I tell do a good job protecting the floor.
