Chose this gate for it's look, adjustability and outdoor durability. It was exactly as advertised, easy to install and looks great. Should fit most applications and is very easy to operate and sturdy. Main thing, keeps the dog off the deck when he is not supposed to be!

I would give it a 2.5. I had this gate installed on my deck in the late spring. Two months later it was showing a great deal of rust on the hinges, etc. even though it is sold for outside use. It's a nice gate, weird clasp, but worried about how long it will last (particularly as winter approaches).

I received confirmation from the vendor that there is, in fact, no "OD" model for this gate. What you get is the regular gate, which costs significantly less, with the stainless steel harware inside the box. The accessories can be bought separately for $10, so don't be scammed and just buy the regular gate and the $10 stainless steel accessories. The manufacturer should be ashamed of itself.

When I complained to Radiofence (the vendor), I was simply told that there was no "OD" model. They told me "Cardinal Gates includes the stainless steel hardware with the SS-30 gate and it then becomes the SS-30OD."

I requested my money back and that they pick up the two "OD" gates and ship me the regular ones and two sets of stainless steel accessories, but they would not do so and stated that I had to pay the return shipping because I did not receive a defective product. They are right. I didnt receive THE PRODUCT I ORDERED. Their response to that? "I am sorry to hear you feel you have been treated unfairly."

Why in the world would anyone buy a more expensive item that did not exist? Why wouldnt we all just buy the regular gate and the hardware separately? They did not have a response for those inquiries.

Beware of this scam. Cardinal Gates should be ashamed, as should its vendors. They are all literally advertising a model that does not exist.

Things I like: it is flexible to size to a range of widths, not too hard to install, and the rust proof paint seems to be working great (we've had these about 3 months so far, and they are installed on our deck outside). Some drawbacks: my three year old son figured out how to open the gate within a few days of watching us do it (when I had to read the instructions about 10 times to figure out how the mechanism worked), but it does work fantastic to keep mobile 1 & 2 year olds contained. It also keeps my dad's lazy old labs on our deck, but does not keep our young lab or mixed small breed in at all--it's just too easy for them to jump. I would definitely recommend the gate as well made, but just be sure it will serve the purpose you are buying it for.

The holes did not line up on one side when attempting to construct it, so I sent it back.

Perhaps it would have been good if it wasn't defective.
