Our dog is 13 and is hardcore coprophagic. We've tried everything our vet and other owners on the various pet sites have suggested, but expensive training we cannot afford. He is an addict once he starts... In addition, over the past few years, we have tried every muzzle on the market, with little or no success. Open and plain mesh front muzzles ended up getting... messy and disgusting to clean. When I found this muzzle I was hesitant, as the flap part made it look like it would make things difficult to breathe. There is much more room for him to breathe that most of the other muzzles we tried. The flap is the key element we've been missing. We keep our yard as free of waste as possible (at least 2x a day and clean up if we see them go). Without getting graphic, with anything but this particular muzzle, he will go right for anything new from himself or our other dog in a flash. Whether we are on the porch or 2 feet from us the frustration! The flap is a bit cumbersome when open and while there is a way to hold it back I'm not thrilled with the way it is supposed to stay, but its only that way for a short time for him to get water. It has continually stopped him from getting to anything in the yard and as far as we are concerned is the best muzzle available for dogs with his condition. Every morning trip outside was a nightmare when he came to the door with those open front or mesh front muzzles. We had 3 mesh muzzles queued up at the backdoor. Horrifying. Unless you are ready to scoop right there as he poops, everything is fair game. In all the time we have had him use this I've had to "clean-up" this mask 2x and that was shortly after we got it. He has it on the majority of the time he is outside and has become accustomed to it (as well as one can). While he may sniff something, he doesn't try he's learned that it pointless to try. But the second I let down my guard and let him out without it on BANG! This thing is a godsend. I came here today to price them out, as we only have one and the 2 mesh "backups." I shudder about having to go back to the old way if this one breaks...The only complaint that I have is that the top of the muzzle comes up quite close to the bottom of his eyes. I'm suppose it might be his snout, but it bears mentioning. If you need to tighten, the muzzle of course moves back. The black lining runs right up to the edge of the eyes. If I had to pull it tighter, I don't think I would use it I think this could be easily rectified by having the top over the snout cut down a bit.
Also, our dog is a lab/Shepard mix, but small in frame he's around 65lb, which is overweight, but we are using the LARGE 13" muzzle for him. We tried the M/L but it was really snug. There is a decent amount of strap (as far as we are concerned) to adjust as needed. I'm happier with the Large, as he has more space its not on to keep him from biting or barking. Anyway, we love, love, love this and it has literally changed our lives for the better no more disgusting morning cleanup!
I give it 4 stars, the design of the upper part of the muzzle near the eyes. 6 stars for making things easier across the board...

Bad News First:* The muzzle is cut a little small, so when you measure your dog's head, I would add 1" 1.5". (There is plenty of room to make the straps more snug.)
* The snaps are awkward. The red, cloth strap which comes across the dog's nose is sewn onto one side and snaps onto the other. When you are not using the "front nose cover" it rolls back and snaps on the same side it is sewn onto. This creates a loop large enough to carry a hammer or a large wrench if you make your dog carry your tools.
Now, The Good News:
* The dog has more space within then most muzzles.
* The end curves up and prevents the dog from picking up "outside things" such as small frogs even with the front cover pulled back.

I purchased this muzzle in a size large for my 85 pound Doberman Pinscher following a surgery that left him with seven sutures on his front leg. This muzzle prevented him from chewing/licking the surgical site and worked much, much better for us than Elizabethan collars do.For the price, I would recommend this muzzle to anyone to use as an alternative to an E-collar, however it is important to note the following:
-With the "nose-strip" buttoned across the nose, air-flow is somewhat more restricted than I would like, so I leave it open: problem solved.
-My dog can NOT drink or take treats with this muzzle on.
-My dog CAN get the muzzle off with his paws (he can also remove E-collars). The single strap around the neck is not the most secure, but I think it might also have to do with the shape of my Doberman's streamlined snout/head. However, I think any seriously determined dog would be able to wriggle out of this muzzle without issue.
**This muzzle would definitely not be appropriate to wear for extended periods of time (dog can not access water), while unsupervised (dog can get it off), or outside in the heat (ventilation is not adequate for labored breathing), but I think this is a GREAT alternative to an E-collar to prevent licking/chewing legs/wounds/surgical sites and could be alright for occasional use (trips to vet, during grooming/nail trimming, in an emergency, etc.)

I purchased this muzzle in size large for my 7 year old Rottweiler. The actual muzzle fit perfectly but the back strap was little short. I had to pull it all the way to the end to get it to fit around his head. (I did measure him before I purchased it)Pros:
Mesh insert allows him to breath easier and makes wearing the muzzle more comfortable.
Muzzle is loose enough to allow him to drink and eat
Cons:
The back strap is a little to short (or maybe my dog just has a really big head)
The front strap is a little bulky. I only plan to use it when I am in crowded areas or the vet's office so when I'm not using it, I don't what to do with it. I folded it and snapped it onto the side of the muzzle but it looks really weird and bulky.
I've only been using the it for three weeks, but overall, it's a decent muzzle.
