I bought a small bed for my Mini Schnauzer. She like it immediately but did not fit into it. It is advertised as 16X20". It is more like a 10X15" useful space. I returned the item for a larger size.

Firstly, in terms of size this bed is the perfect fit for my French Bulldog. He's 20lbs. He can't completely stretch out otherwise his paws hang off the ends but he's not cramped either. The sides of the bed give a lot and are fairly soft so if your dog is much heavier than mine they may flatten it. Still, it provides enough support so that my dog can rest his head/chin on the sides and is comfortable.Secondly, regarding the warmth, I was pleasantly surprised. Must admit I was a little skeptical at first, but it does retain heat well. 'Retain' is the key word here. The bed itself won't create heat, your dog has to be warm-ish to begin with. I put a blanket over my dog and after a few minutes it's a toasty little oven in there. Thinking of buying another one to put inside his crate. Overall very happy with this bed.
