The bells themselves work. If you're looking for these, go for it. They are nice and loud, easily heard from another room in the house, and it did not take my dogs long to pick up on ringing them to go outside.

However, if you really want leather, you may want to consider purchasing elsewhere. I purchased these bells in black leather. What I received was brown cloth. I don't really care about the color, but I have two great danes and specifically ordered LEATHER (and paid double the price for it!). I tried to return the item through Amazon only to be told I can't return it. Nice! Seller ships wrong item, customer gets stuck with the bill of paying extra and having to replace it. I expect the item to be torn to shreds within a few weeks, if that, and I'll have to buy a new one.

This item is a great help in training a puppy to go to the door when he needs to go outside. Well-made (my first set is still in use after 4 years; this one was purchased as a gift)and so easy to use. Long enough for even the smallest puppy to reach. Definitely a "recommended" product.

This product is really great. Just give it at least a month. The only problem is that you have to let the dog out, EVERY time they ring the bell. My puppy Shiloh loved to just go out to look aroung, sometimes 10 or 12 times an hour.But if you stick with it and don't give up, you will love this product. Shiloh is 9 months old now and without fail rings the bell when she needs to go out.I hung the bell on the side of the door frame. One day when I was in another room and didn't hear Shiloh ring the bells, I looked up to see her marching in the room with the bells in her mouth. Shiloh then stood and shook her head rapidly,I think she was saying "can you hear the bells now".
